I can't get my iPod touch 3rd gen to connect to my WRT120N

For some reason my iPod touch 3rd generation will not connect and it is driving me crazy!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you are trying to connect to your wireless network on your iPod are you getting any error message?
Whats the wireless settings you have setup on your router (SSID, Channel, Security Mode). Is the Wireless MAC filtering is Enable on your router or not? Whats the current firmware on your router?

  • I can't get my iPod Classic (3rd gen) to reset. Device won't connect to iPod server.

I have an iPod 3rd gen classic with the 160 GB HDD.  All attempts at resetting the device elicit a dialog that states that iTunes can't read the contents of the iPod and that I should go to the summary tab in iPod preferences to click restore to factory settings. When I hit OK the iPod appears in the devices list in iTunes and the title box appears identifying the iPod by serial number, but notes the capacity of the device as 0 KB. My only option is to press the restore iPod button. As soon as the button is pressed I get a dialog which states that iTunes cannot access the iPod software server because I am not connected to the internet. This behavior has been consistent in 2 versions of iTunes (I just got 11.1.5.5) and 2 versions of iPod software (now 2.0.4 up from 2.0.2).
I got into the iPod diagnostics (center + previous, FYI) and tested the drive which appears to be fine. I'm going fairly nuts with this 'cause I gots to have my tunes and have been diligent about troubleshooting only to hit this wall. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
Have you checked to verify your iPod is a Classic 3rd gen? Apple's website is kind of confusing when classifying the different generations of the Classic iPods. My thoughts on the differing classifications of iPod Classics are as such:  http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iPod_models (scroll down to models) I have just finished replacing the battery in a friend's iPod Classic 3rd Generation and found that they only made a 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 GB hard drive for those that look as such: 2003-2009 with 4 buttons across the top (back track, menu, play/pause, and forward track) and beneath that is the touch wheel (pictured below is an example of how iPod Classic 3rd Gens look).  If that is the case, someone may have upgraded the wrong size hard drive.  The previous person may have instead installed a compact flash card.  If I researched correctly, when upgrading to a compact flash card the iPod can be very touchy with which manufacturer of the compact flash card will work properly.  If you click on the link and scroll down to posts, some people have specified which compact flash cards work.  Best wishes.  Please let me know if you were able to resolve your issue. -joe p  http://www.tarkan.info/20080506/blog/iflash-compact-flash-compatibility-help-nee ded

  • Can't update my iPod touch 3rd gen

So I have my 3rd gen iPod touch and i have tried to update it several times with errors telling me that iTunes timed out or with the 3091 error code (i think its the 3091 its the highest error code with 3000) and i have redownloaded itunes rebooted my computer used a different computer and i cant get it to update/ or even restore is there another way to get it to restore? I don't care if all my stuff gets deleted id rather have a fresh start anyway. I am at ios 4.3.5 and wanted to update it up to the new ios 5

You have a 2G iPod.  Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPods.  When the 3G iPods were introduced, the 8GB 2G iPods were continued to be sold with the same updated iOS as the 3G ipods.  It is a common error to think that users purchased a 8GB 3G ipod.  Sorry.

    Hi IIIaass,
Not. My iPod is a 3rd Gen 8GB. I have updated it until the 4.2.1, but my old iTunes (10.2.XXX) always said it was the current version of the iPod.
Now my brother has bought a 4th Gen iPod Touch and he has the 4.3.3. I have downloaded the last iTunes today (10.3.1.55) and it says the same.
I'm trying to restore it right now to see if that change.

  • How can i get my ipod touch 4th gen out of recovery mode if my home button isn't working?

i am not interested in fixing my home button myself. the ipod is 2.5 years old and the home button seems to be pushed in too far so it will not work and i  was updating an app when it went into recovery mode. i have tried all of the tutorials on YouTube and none have worked. i tried pressing the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appeared, it did but less than a second later, it went back to the "connect to itunes" screen. please help

The only way to get an iPod out of recovery mode is to connect it to iTunes and restoring to a previous back up.  If there is no back up the data will be lost.  Hope this helps!

  • Can you get an ipod touch 2nd gen working after a short circuit?

I was replacing the screen on my 2nd gen iPod touch, and when I was trying to lift the screen (not the glass, the display) out I accidentally and stupidly touched two chips (I think)on the board in the bottom left (the top two of the set of three brown and silver ones) together with a metal ended screwdriver, it made a quiet high pitched noise and then I couldn't turn on the display ( by pressing the lock button) , I would've turned the iPod off before hand but the touchscreen didn't work at all so I couldn't and looking back at it I really should've just waited until the battery died. But I didn't :(. Please help.

thanks, i actually checked it this morning and it was coming on to the low battery connect to power screen but the screen looked all messed up, i dont know if this was because of the short circuit or because of when i tried to take the screen out after i had short circuited it, either way i have to replace it anyway as it already had dead pixels, the reason i as this is because i dont know wether the other screen will work normally if i put it in, i dont want to fit it to find out it doesnt work.

I've tried all the different troubleshooting through Apple but can't get my Ipod Touch 3rd Gen to show up on windows much less sync with Itunes.  I just went through the process of fixing my Iphone so I know that Itunes is properly installed and the other drivers should be good.  I even turned on Bonjour, which the one of the trouble shooting steps exposed.   Any tips other then buy a new Ipod touch?

  • Ipod touch 3rd Gen not fully starting up - constantly restarting with the apple logo screen

    Hi,
First of all, I cannot get my ipod touch (3rd Gen) to start up so I cannot get model specifics and version numbers - though it is iOS 5.1.1
I have obviously tried to restart it by holding the power and home button for 10 secs but this has not done anything.
At the moment, the ipod switches on and I see the black screen with the white apple logo - this stays on for about 3 minutes, then I get the little spinning circle (but it isn't spinning) for a couple of minutes, before it powers off and does this again... repeatedly. It only stopped because the battery power ran out.
I have connected it to my computer with the latest version of itunes - it appears in the devices list but just has a spinning 'loading' icon and is grayed out.  As my ipod restarts the cycle again as above, my computer makes the noise as if i just plugged it back in and the above happens again in itunes.
The problem began when I updated apps (through update apps in app store) and it froze - I turned the ipod off to restart it, and now this is happening.
Any help or advice extremely grateful... I can't even access it to get it restored which is a bit of a problem as I have work notes on it. (Obviously I don't know if notes are backed up on ipod backups through itunes?)
    Many, many thanks in advance!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Sync failed to start w/ iTunes 10.7, iPod Touch 3rd gen

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.7 on Windows 7x64, I have had trouble getting my iPod Touch (3rd gen, 5.1.1) to sync. I am getting the message "sync failed to start". This happens with either WiFi or USB connection to the device. I know the iPod WiFi is working because the Remote app shows my iTunes library, fetches email, etc.
After installing iTunes 10.7, when I connected via USB, Windows tried to search for and install new drivers. After a very long delay, I canceled the search and continued using the existing drivers. I'm not sure if this is related.

I have resolved the problem by 'shutting down' my MacBook ('restarting' the computer was not sufficient to resolve it). While I was at it, I took the battery out briefly before rebooting – don't know if this made the difference, but I do know that Apple Tech Support have instructed me to remove the battery momentarily on previous occasions when resolving other issues with the computer. Anyway, either just shutting down (or shutting down + removing the battery) seems to have resolved the problem, as iTunes is once again recognising my iPod Touch and I'm able to sync again. Phew!

  • HT1454 Can not get video out from my ipod touch 3rd gen. Any ideas? It should nt be diffiicult to do this on the 21 st century, or not?

After having spent EUR 130 on cables from apple, i still can not get video out from my ipod touch 3rd gen. Any ideas? It should nt be diffiicult to do this on the 21 st century, or not?

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

  • I recently purchased new Mac Mini with Lion installed. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini.

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini with Lion installed. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini. Everything else syncs great, and iCal syncs from my Mini to my Touch. My Touch has the latest iOS installed. I have tried rebooting my Touch, removing the sync calendars option from iTunes>Info and checking it again after applying and closing iTunes, and restarting my Mini. Any help will be appreciated!
