I can't get my music to play on either ITUNES or download it to my IPOD!

My old computer crashed, so I got a new laptop, installed ITUNES on it, and then placed all my data from my old computer onto this new laptop (including my songs). Then I stupidly took my IPOD and placed my songs on the ITUNES again. I just came back from a trip to Europe, and I had accidentally gotten someone elses (A friends songs) on there. So those songs are in my ITUNES now too. Now I have like 3 copies of each song on there. My issue is rather confusing, so I'll try to make this make sense.
-I just got a new Ipod yesterday - a IPOD Blue Nano Gen.2 (I think) 4 GB.
-On Itunes whenever I try to play my music, it says "This computer is not authorized to play *insert name of my song here*. Would you like to authorize it?" So I type in my password to my ITUNES account and click Authorize. Then it says "Accesing ITunes Store..." but if never actually works.
-I have two Itunes accounts, and songs from both. I have to somehow authorize songs from both accounts on this computer.
-I also want to get these songs to go onto my new IPOD, instead of my other two.
If this doesn't make sense, please tell me --- but I need help! My dad is too busy to help me, so I need to figure this out myself.

How did you transfer the music from work to home PC?
Are you sure all mute buttons are off and the itunes volume is up?

You get exclamation marks or dead tracks because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
If you use an external drive, a change in drive letter is a common cause and you need to change it back.
AS a way of working out what has happened, right click on a track and select the summary tab (you will have to go past an error message). The summary tab will tell you where iTunes thinks the track is located. How does that compare with where the track actually is?
The xml library file is not used by iTunes, it is created to allow other programs to access the library. You can recreate the iTl file from the xml file, but there is no point if the location of the files is wrong.
There is a simple way of getting you music back in iTunes, but it loses all playlists counts and rating. To do this drag iTunes library.itl and iTunes Library.xml to your desktop. Then open iTunes and an empty library is created. Add you iTunes Media folder to it.
If you can't work out what went wrong and how to fix it, you may have to do this.

are you getting an error message, Odessa? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if you're not getting an error message, describe what happens when you try to transfer songs to the ipod as best you can.

In iTunes go to the Help menu in the upper menu bar. Then click on iTunes Help. Then on Sync your iPod, iPhone or iPad and follow the instructions.

Try:

Can't Get The Music To Play...

I'm new to the iDVD and have gone front-to-back in the guide. But I can't seem to get the ITunes I've dropped in the main menu to play. There's just no sound, no music. Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated!

+1. Open the menu where you are having audio problems+
+2. Click on the drop zone icon to open the drop zones+
+3. Move the music (the iTunes music notes) that you've placed here out of the menu box+
+4. By getting the music icon out of the way, you will reveal a tiny black sound/audio icon+
+5. If you strain your eyes and look real close you will see that there are no sound waves coming out of the sound icon+
+6. Click on the icon and tiny black sound waves will appear+
+7. You have now "unmuted" your menu+
+8. Drop your music selection back into the menu drop zone+
+9. You now have sound!+
Frankly, I did not see the little sound wave icon on one of my menus, but I went ahead and followed the instructions and it did work.
Give it a try and post back if it does not help.

If the tune is a MP3 then there is an issue with Safari. Convert the tune to AAC.

After my recent update, I can't get my music to copy to my itunes library. I've tried both adding file and folder, but nothing works. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you resolve it?

I've tried uninsstalling an re-installing itues sevral times, and still can't get it to work. I don't know what else to try.

iTunes will silently ignore any request to add files that it can't get access to. It is hard to know for certain but it seems that some requests go via the current user account and some via the system account. Might be worth checking that both your account and system have full access to all the files you are trying to connect, and that they are not hidden.
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

How can I get certain music to play on my iPhone 4S?

I have transferred about 15 songs from an old mp3 player over to iTunes, but it comes up as unplayable on the iPhone. The songs appear in my music, but are colored gray and I cannot open them on my iPhone. I am able to open them and play them on my computer, but they won't play on the iPhone even after I sync it. Help??

The Airplay icon only appears if there's an Airplay enabled device that the iPhone or iPad can find in the same network, or connected via bluetooth.

Can I get my music collection (play counts and playlists inc.) from my iPad to my PC?

I had a problem with iTunes where I couldn't add songs to the library because I didn't have sufficient permissions to edit my iTunes library (even though I did). After a few days of tweaking administrator permissions and the like, I got really annoyed and tried re-installing iTunes to see if it would make it go away. Whilst the iTunes64Setup.exe file was downloading, I was fiddling with the .itl and .xml files in my iTunes folder and when I re-installed iTunes I had lost all my play counts and playlists. When iTunes opened, I assumed it must have overwritten the two files because when I looked at them in Windows Explorer they were both a lot smaller in size.
Obviously, I didn't sync my iPad or iPhone after this had happened, so I still have the playlists and play counts stored on them. Is there any way I can:
a) Recover a previous version of the .xml and .itl files on my laptop and use them to restore my plays?
or
b) Use iTunes Match to restore them onto my laptop?
I'm not sure about b). When you subscribe to Match, does it analyze your current library and then save it to the Cloud so you can redownload it?
I'm going to buy the new iPhone when it is released in the next couple of months so I'm willing to jailbreak my iPhone 4 if need be.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I can't get the music to play on my iWeb site.

I have posted my website on line after making it on iWeb, but when I go to the page, the music won't/can't play. The album art is there (with a transparent quick time Q underneath). So basically, there is no play feature to start the music. How do I fix this?
Second, once I am able to fix the above issue, I would like to make the music play continuously throughout the entire site (without having to press start). How do I go about making this happen?

Airport Express with Itunes can not get the music to play on the speakers

I have upgrade everything Firmware on the Airport , OS 10.5.5. The wireless internet connection works
perfect. Then I select the external stereo speaker or multiple speaker in itunes at the bottom right it connect no error see everything. But once i Play the music it does don't play to the stereo speakers It play on the Powerbook no problem. It did work before i upgrade Itunes

I switched music from iTunes from my old laptop to my new one, but can't get the music to play

I seem to be having problems with my new laptop, specifically in playing music on iTunes. I have a HP Envy using Windows 8. I downloaded the compatible version of iTunes for Windows 8 and moved the music from my old laptop (Dell Latitude D830) to my new one. I tried to play some of the music and after clicking play nothing happens. I have also noticed that I seem to have difficulties running the program if I don't run it as administrator. So if there is any advice anyone could give me I would greatly appreciate it.
