Is your iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 and your ipad 1 running iOS 4? If this is the case then go through the update process on your iPad 1. All the iPad 2 apps running on iOS 5 that are compatible with the iPad 1 will be put on your iPad 1. Those apps that require a camera will not appear because the iPad 1 does not have a camera.

I run a library software called Overdrive to down load audiobooks; since updating to iTunes 10.5 and iOS5 I can't get the books to transfer from my laptop to my Itouch or iPhone4

Has anyone had experience using Overdrive to download audiobooks and then transferring them to an iTouch?

i found that overdrive transfures the audio books to your music library file or music file under your ipod. it just transferes a number like 11235 or 11238 a number is a chapter or part. i have not found a way to get the book name or picture to transfer from overdrive to my ipod. i started with ios 4.2 and everything worked fine as long as i used wma format. if i used mp3 format it just transfered the book name and chap number and put it under music in my ipod. i use win 7 and ie9. when i updated to ios 5 everything went into the toilet. now i had to creat a new file under my ipod locate the books in itunes then drag and drop to the new file. i called my files mp3 and audiobooks (2 files) i still only get a number for each part of the book. no name downloads to itunes or ipod.

How can I get my music to copy to the iPod Shuffle?

I have a new iPod Shuffle, it shows up under the Devices in my iTunes, but when I Sync it says there is an unkown error and cannot copy the song. It displays this message for every Playlist and every song. My iTunes is current and the software on the Shuffle is current. All the songs play just fine from iTunes on my desktop computer. How can I get my songs to copy?

If you have not done so, you may want to restart your computer.
That message (about the song file not found) means iTunes cannot locate the song file where it expects to find it. Are you sure you can still play the song in iTunes (?), because you may get a yellow exclamation point next to the song, meaning the same thing; iTunes did not find the song file where iTunes expected to find it.
The consolidate command would not help if iTunes can't locate the files.
That might mean they were moved or deleted. If you do a Get Info (from right-click) on one of those songs, the Info window should tell you the expected location of the song file, on the Summary tab next to Where. Follow that path (using Windows) to see if the song file is there.

When I plugged my phone in for the first time I was not given the option to transfer the contents of my iphone to my computer. Stolen computer!! can i get my music files back from my ipod?

I had my computer stolen! And stupidly hadn't backed up my music files... All the files are however on my ipod. Obviously, i don't want to lose them so i'm looking for a way to transfer my files from my ipod onto itunes 8 on my new computer...
I've read about transfering the iTunes file to a new computer but obviously i can't do that because i don't have the old file.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

You need to sync them from iTunes on your computer to your phone
In iTunes on your computer click on tones in left column and make sure your ringtones are there. Plug in your phone to computer with USB cable. Click on phone name I left column. Click on the tone tab on the right of iTunes screen and then select sync all tones and then click on apply or sync at the bottom right of iTunes screen

I can't get all music to sync from my iMac to my iPhone 5.

My iTunes library looks normal enough. BUT, when I try to sync playlists, albums, etc to my phone, not everything syncs. When I look at the music listing on my phone (through iTunes) some of the songs show up in very light text or have a circled exclamation point next to them. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, but last Spring I switched to an iMac from a very old Dell. I transferred that iTunes library to my iMac by way of external hard drive. Anyway, this problem is driving me crazy. Am I going to have to start my iTunes library completely over from scratch? What happens to all of my purchased songs?
