I can't get my unlocked iPhone to accept the new sim card.

Hi,
I have an iphone 3, I had it unlocked by O2 a few weeks ago, but it still wont accept a new sim card, and when i connect it to itunes, it doesnt mention anything or give me the opportunity to register the new sim. Can anyone help?

I have a new iPhone 4 that I bought unlocked. It's intended use is not as a phone, but more of an iPod touch. I want to activate it, but iTunes tells me I need a sim. Is there a way I can activate the phone for use with iTunes w/o obtaining a sim?

There is no way to do this with a stock Apple firmware. I am in the same boat. I wanted to use my old iPhone strictly for development, as I am upgrading to the new iPhone. Unfortunately, I got bitten by the SIM card problem and my phone old phone won't even recognize a SIM card anymore. In my opinion, requiring a SIM just to use apps on the phone needs to go away. You should be syncing iphone to your computer regularly so all of your contacts should be on your computer in whatever program you have chosen to sync.

The nano SIM should come with the phone if you set it up with a carrier.
If you purchased an unlocked phone, you'll have to contact your carrier to get a nano sim card.

I dont have Prokit 4.0.1 if you are referring to that, do I need this first? Please explain what application name I am looking for if other than Prokit which is sitting in my "download folder" do I need to manually put it into the apps folder? Back your old phone up in iTunes first. Then after you swap the SIM card into the new phone, connect the new one to iTunes and choose "Restore from backup." It should replicate everything that was on the old phone, right down to most of your settings and text message history.
