I can't get on Firefox

I turned off the computer awhile ago and after I turned it back on Firefox is nowhere to be found.

What happens if you install it again?

  • Updated Java (13.5) and can't get a Firefox window (mac, 10.6.8)

My MacBook pro suggested I update to the most recent version of Java. after doing so, I can't get a firefox window on opening firefox or on requesting a new window. If I click on a link I get a window.
    what'sup?
New java is 13.5 Firefox is 3.6.18 Mac is 10.6.8

If you have access to an Apple Store, the Genius Bar should be able to manually install a version that works with your Operating System.
Be sure to make an appointment though.
AppleCare should be able to help you as well.

  • The exe files are not responding on my computer. I can't get to firefox.exe - what can I do?

I downloaded a 7-zip file from CNET and it didn't do what I wanted and so I uninstalled it. However, all the "exe" files on the computer are now not accessible. I can get to Firefox thru a "shortcut" on my desktop for the local newspaper. The e-mail is working thru my yahoo account only. I purchased PC MightyMax and that didn't do anything for me. I've tried to restore the computer to yesterday or earlier and the restore window will not come up either.

In some cases, all EXEs being broken can indicate a malware infection.
Do you get a specific error message when you try to start a program?
I'm concerned that PC MightyMax itself might be an infection you need to remove, but let's come back to that issue.

  • I need to get into my old account and get my addresses and then cancel the old account but can not get into it. Had to change my user name when I moved and now I can't get into Firefox. Can't remember the old password. What to do??

I moved during the summer. I changed to highspeedand & when I set my computer up it told me that my email address was already in use so I had to change it(????) I changed from jkady to [email protected] I tried to change it on firefox but it would not except the new name and I could not get into my old account.I need all my addresses and would like to cancel the old account but I can not get into it. This is very frustrating!!!!! I need my addresses!!!!!!!!

I logged in changed the primary E-Mail address to a different one, vertified it then tried to log in it said either to send an E-Mail to veritify again or to do my security questions, so I choose to do the security questions and put in my Birthday like it asked and it said that it was wrong and I had to authenticate it to get in, why is it so hard to just set up a Apple ID really though!
So I tried the E-Mail to and it has not sent me an E-Mail then I tried to log in again and it has locked me out of my account so I try to recover my password and it gave me the same options to get my password back and both options are doing the same as before, it says I don't know my on birth date or it is wrong or needs authenticate it, then the E-Mail doesn't come through!
    This is just stupid now.

    Take a look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
    There should be firefox icon.
    1. right click on it
    2. click "Send to" > Desktop (create shortcut).
And then you should see firefox icon on your desktop.
If you want to remove firefox you can try, restart PC first ..

  • How can I get my Firefox persona to work with the new version of Firefox?

Everything was working fine, then my computer automatically updated Firefox and my persona background disappeared. It's listed as enabled on the add-ons backgrounds under add-ons manager. I have Foxkeh tail wag. I went and reinstalled it but it still doesn't come on. I went to the firefox personas page and tried to install a different persona. NONE of them work now. How can I get my persona background back?

    Fixed! Thank you!

I will click on the browser to bring it up. Yet, whenever I do. It will seam to be appearing but also slide off the screen to make it un-visable. Firefox appears to work just fine except for I can't actually get on. I uninstalled the program and then re-installed it. But the issue persists.

  • I need to access a website that is not Netscape compatible. Where can I get a Firefox add-in that emulates Internet Explorer?

Need software that makes Firefox act like Microsoft Internet Explorer so that I can get into a website that will not interact properly with Netscape, which is apparently used by Firefox.

The following Add-on uses the Internet Explorer installed on your system to display a page in an IE tab in Firefox. There are several Add-ons to perform that function, but I have had the most success with the following:

  • Can't get the Firefox homepage toolbar on my Samsung Galaxy S4

Firefox mobile downloads to my smartphone but the window that comes up has 6 open panes. At the top of the screen there are 4 panel options: History, Top Sites, Bookmarks and Reading List. If possible, I would like the same home page with toolbar & icons that I get on my desktop computer. I have installed and uninstalled Firefox Android many times and get the same results every time. I have gone thru all the online help options without success. Any help to solve this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!

    Hi loonyone,
Thank you for your question, currently this is the default homepage of Firefox. In order to change the homepage you can tap on the setting menu > Customize and then click on the Panels that you want to show up and not to show up. Top sites is the panel also used on desktop.
If you have any other questions please post back.

  • Can't get fresh Firefox installation to read old profile.

I backed up my WHOLE profile folder to a backup drive (internal, D:\). I reformatted my C:\ drive. I reinstalled the OS (Win XP SP3) and Firefox. I copied over the profile files and nothing. I created a new profile with Profile Manager, nothing. I've tried un-/re-installing Firefox and copy-and-pasting the files, nothing. I've already read all of the FAQs. Please, please, please help. (also, the forum won't allow me to respond so please don't ask questions, I can't respond)

There are two different versions of Flash, the '''''ActiveX''''' version for IE and the '''Plugin''' version used by most other browsers.
1.Download the Flash Plugin version setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    4. Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />

Firefox sometimes will open in the background instead of the standard UI as normal after clicking on the desktop shortcut. When this happens I simply end the task/process manually via windows task manager & on the second attempt it will open normally.
To open task manager & end task/process
    1. Press & hold at the same time Ctrl + Alt + Del
    2. Select Start Task Manager
    3. Select the Processes Tab
    4. Locate & click on firefox.exe & click the end process button on bottom right. If you get a message saying the program is not responding, simply select end now when prompted.
    5. Click on Firefox icon on desktop to open Firefox and it should be fine.

  • What other browser can I get besides Firefox or Internet Explorer?

For the past 10 revisions/updates FireFox has gotten buggier and buggier and crashes more and more. So I am looking for an alternative browser besides the pieces of crap FireFox and Internet Explorer. Any ideas?

Hi tforsberg, obviously Firefox behaves differently on your system(s) than on mine, even though we use the same OS.
Were you able to find any crash IDs?
To track down the extra Flash DLL, could you try the following: type or paste '''about:plugins''' in the address bar and press Enter. You can use Find (Ctrl+f) and search for '''npswf''' to find the Flash plugin(s) on the page. The default location is:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
Can you track down Flash 12 to that or a different location?
Regarding session restore, you get the best results when you exit Firefox using the menu. Either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
    * File menu > Exit
If you exit Firefox by closing windows individually, or by right-clicking Firefox on the task bar and choosing Close All Windows, you might not be able to recover more than 3 or 4 windows. You can increase the number of closed windows that can be restored by changing a setting:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) You can raise these values to store more closed window and closed tab history (which then can be restored from the History menu):
    * browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo (number of closed windows remembered; default is 3)
    * browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo (number of closed tabs remembered, per window; default is 10)

  • Just updated to 7.0.1 for Mac Snow Leopard, but the icon in my dock isn't the firefox symbol, it's a "document" icon. How can I get the firefox icon in my dock again?

I was given an auto-update message from Firefox, which asked me to restart the program to initiate the update. As soon as Firefox restarted, I got a weird document icon in my dock - in the place where the Firefox icon was moments before. The new update of Firefox seems to be working just fine, but I would like the Firefox icon in my dock and not this unrelated icon. Can you help, please?

I had this problem. Re-instal Firefox. After you drag the Firefox icon in to the Applications icon it is going to ask you if you're sure that you want to replace the version that's there - say yes. Then go down to your dock and remove the Firefox icon - drag it off the dock so it "poof!s" away. You can now put the icon on your dock again from your newly updated version. If that doesn't fix it drag it off the dock again, probably no need to re-update for the third time. Fixed it for me anyway. GL!

  • How can I get regular Firefox and not the "Yahoo" version?

I want firefox, but I don't like the version where I always have the yahoo search page and it won't let me set my own home page.

It is because you might have downloaded the optimised version of Mozilla Firefox made for Yahoo!
Do a fresh reinstallation of Mozilla firefox's appropriate version.
You can download it from here: Firefox 21.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
And yes if you have an add-on of Yahoo search toolbar then you can disable it from the firefox installation toolbars.
Remember do not download the optimised version made for yahoo. As it will only have that yahoo search home page!
    Thank You!

  • How can I get a Firefox on CD? I have a computer that is not able to connect to the internet due to a virus so I am not able to download the software

The computer was running IE, but that now seems to be corrupted

You can download the setup file from http://www.mozilla.com/ using the computer that can connect to the internet. You can copy the setup file (Firefox Setup 3.6.10.exe) to a USB key or burn it to a CD.
You can buy a CD from http://store.mozilla.org/ but I don't know how long it will take to arrive.

  • I can't get the Firefox tab in order to access all the choices there. Where is it?

In the Mozilla support, it keeps telling me to click on the orange Firefox tab at the top of my screen. I don't have one and can't find how to make it appear. Any advice?

For new installs, Firefox on Vista and higher will show an orange Firefox button. For users who upgraded from Firefox 3.6, I think you kept the classic menu bar.
If you want to switch: [[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar]]
If you want to find the Options dialog on the menu bar: it's on the Tools menu
