I can't get service after acdtivation

I just activated my phone and have no service.  I can't receive a text or call due to no service.  Can I chat about the problem without being able to receive a text or email?

It's not clear what you're asking. Do you think you are speaking to Apple? If so, this is a user-supported help forum. If you just activated your iPhone and don't have service, contact your carrier. Since you don't mention where you are or who your carrier is, it's hard to know what the issue may be. The carrier is in any case the best place to start as it may be an issue with your SIM or if on CDMA, the iPhone may need to be provisioned to your account.

    I have used my Treo 650 for years in the US. I've also taken it to other countries (Africa, Europe) and used SIMS purchased there for service while in those locations. Upon returning to the US after each trip, I've always been able to use my US SIM to get my US service back. 
    However, I went to Thailand in November and used a SMILE SIM and another Thailand SIM, both of which worked in Thailand.  Unfortunately, upon returning to the US, my US SIM won't work for getting service any more.  (I am using my US SIM in a Nokia phone in the meantime, and it is working. When I put the SIM into my Treo, it will transfer the text messges, but will not connect to my service provider, AT&T.) 
    I called AT&T and they said it was a hardware problem.  I suspect it might be a "lock" problem with one of the Thailand companies.  Is it possible that the Thai company locked my cell phone? 
    So my question is, how can I fix this?  Whatever the problem is, I'd sure like my service back!  Please help!!

    I don't think a SIM card can lock your phone. Did you let them do anything with the keyboard?
    Can you try with a friend's AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card and see whether either will work?

    You can't.  The warranty on the iPhone has NEVER been international.  You will need to bring the phone to Thailand (or send it to someone you know there to bring it to Apple) for servicing.

    Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.

    The above helped me find this solution:
    do the following steps:
    General > Restrictions > [scroll down to ] PRIVACY: > Microphone > Allow changes
    Not: Settings > Privacy > Microphone
    If you are installing an app like Soundhound, you will have to delete it then just reinstall it. The app then will ask you if it is "OK" to use the microphone. Push "yes". Then go back to the Settings app and follow the chain:
    Settings > Privacy > Microphone > SoundHound   push tab to the right until it turns green and you are set.

Certifications can help you to learn some of the skills required to administer Oracle, or develop in Oracle, or use various Oracle software products.     About 4 weeksago I’ve noticed that I have problems with my microphone.
    While using speaker mode, I can hear the person I’m talking with on my speaker, yet the person is NOT hearing me.
    Also, while recording video on my iPhone4 camera, it records ONLY video WITHOUT voice.
    Note that the application Voice Memo works fine while I'm recording voice (only) and it works fine on Skype application too.
    Non of the above problems had been noticed during the first 6 months after purchase.
    From discussions on various sites I learn that many iPhone 4 users experience the same phenomena (microphone/speaker/video).
    I had the same phenomena while using iOS 4.3.x and also now with iOS 5.0,
    and as far as I understood it’s probably hardware problem that can only be fixed at Apple service center.
    I leave in Israel and tried to approach Apple authorized distributors/carriers in Israel (iDigital and Orange Partner) for support.
    Both iDigital and Orange (my carrier) responded that they can NOT help me, since my iPhone has NOT been purchased from their stores.

    The warranty is NOT international. The exception is the E.U. which is considered one country for warranty purposes. You will need to physically take the phone to an EU country to get warranty service. You can NOT ship it to them. They will not accept an international shipment for warranty service and they will not ship a replacement internationally.

    It's independent of whether you can play the video or not, but FYI you can transfer the video file to your Mac using the program Image Capture.
    I'm having the same problem, I copied the file to my Mac but I can't play it. Neither QuickTime Player nor VLC can open it.
    VLC's debug log shows:

    ps error: cannot peek
    main warning: no demux module matching "mp4" could be loaded

    After you buy this from the Apple Store, it can take a number of business days to receive the redemption code for your purchase. The Apple STore must communicate with another part of Apple and they will generate two emails to you. One has a locked pdf with your redemption code inside, the other will have the password to unlock the pdf. You can then redeem the code in the Mac App STore on your Mac.

    A bit OT, but the current rc.conf doesn't support blacklisting modules so '!snd_pcsp !pcspkr' sin't doing anything.

    I have my TMobile 8900 and I can not get any service here in the Netherlands, I tried it originally and then I unlocked it and nothing is working at all. Anyone know something that will help?

    On your device go to Options - Advanced Options - SIM card
    Open SIM-card screen.
    Type on device keyboard: MEPD
    New screen will appear.
    Find "Network" field in the screen. Is it Active or Disabled ?
    If your device is unlocked then Network: Disabled has to be shown.
    Check this and post here how it is going.

  • Can't get online after switching from a Dell

    Can anyone help me?
    I just switched to a PowerBook G4 from using a Dell, and now I can't get online. I'm using a cable modem, but apparently my Apple won't recognize it. I talked to Apple tech support for over an hour, and they sent me to the Apple store who, of course, couldn't duplicate my problem. The guy at the store said this happens a lot when you switch from a Windows machine to a Mac because the modem "knows" which computer it should be trying to connect to. My Apple won't receive an IP address from the modem, and neither Apple nor my cable company can fix it. I've never used an Apple before and I'm getting really frustrated!

    The Apple Hardware Test was originally distributed on a separate Apple Hardware Test CD. The latest Macs distribute the Apple Hardware Test on a special volume on the Software Restore and Install DVD. Each Apple Hardware Test is specific to the type and model of Mac with which it was distributed.
    Since the Apple Hardware Test is included on the Software Restore and Install DVD that shipped with your Mac when purchased, Apple won't just send you another one.
    Your employer needs to give you the OS X install package that shipped with this Mac when purchased to keep handy. Although there is an alternative, to run Disk First Aid repair on the hard drive to check for any hard drive directory problems requires booting the computer from the OS X install disc #1 that shipped with this Mac when purchased.
    Check Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption for system troubleshooting procedures with instructions for running Disk First Aid repair on the hard drive.
    This is also recommended before installing a major OS X update such as 10.4.6 or 10.4.7 which is expected to be released soon.

    Since you are new to Macs and OS X, check Maintaining Mac OS X for recommended maintenance for OS X which isn't much but also good info to know for future reference.
