I can't get started

Hello
I purchased an Airport Express to play iTunes on my home stereo. When I plug it in it will not connect and always blinks amber. I have a Linksys 2.4 GHz wireless router model # WRT54G. My iPod touch has no problems getting web info from the router. I have Airport Utility 5.4.1 which it says is the most current version. I have tried to put the unit very near to my PC and it makes no difference.
I have always gotten good info from these discussion forums. I'm sure I will again.
Thanks

Still nothing.
I have a buddy who has a Mac book and his own AX. His AX has never turned green, but he can play music on it with iTunes. Another buddy has a Windows laptop and can connect to my first buddy's AX and play music with iTunes. My first buddy is able to connect to my AX with his Mac and play music with it. I also have a Windows laptop that can connect to it. I just can't get my home network (Windows) to even see the thing. I tried both hard and factory resets with the AX connected to my router.

  • Can't add page ! (can't get started)

When I open iWeb, I am unable to add a page, so I can't get started. The only thing that appears is: in the left hand column a red icon that says "site". I am unable to add anything? any ideas? My idisc is mounted and is telling me how much space is available.

What version of iWeb are you using right now?
If you are using iWeb 1.1.1....Don't update to 1.1.2 YET. Download the iWeb 1.1.1 Update directly from here and apply it...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iweb111.html
This has been known to ungrey your iWeb options.
Another trick that has sometimes worked is this:
    1. Open up iWeb with its greyed out options and leave it open
    2. Now launch iPhoto and select 2 or 3 photos
    3. Click on the iWeb icon at the bottom of the iPhoto window
    4. Select Photo Page
See if this opens up a new photo page for you in iWeb. This has been known to ungrey the options as well for some reason.
If none of this works, you may be looking at reinstalling iWeb to try to make things work. Here is a page from Kabing that summarizes all of this in a more organized way...

  • How can I get started if I am not an advanced user but still want to config ATS660 external trigger?

There r 2 groups VIs provided by the company: easy VIs and advanced VIs. And set external trigger VI is in the latter one. The manual indicates that only the person who r very familar with the ATSApi Application Programming Interface should attempt using the Advaced VIs. Unfortunately I am not that kind of advanced user. If I want to learn all these stuff(like how to call the VIs in correct order), how can I get started?
I will be really appreciated if I can get some help here.  all I have now is the ATS660 User Manual and ATS-VI Software Manual. I wonder if there should be other useful manuals, like NI-DAQ user manual that can help to understand how to call/config the device in right order.
    Thank u in advance.
    Dyna----an eager learner

ya, u r right. That was what happened to me.
The company is Alazartech. This is a PCI waveform digitizer.
I've visited the www.alazartech.com , and found no further info about how to call this subVIs in correct order. So I am asking here , hope that any one is familiar with this stuff.
Anyway, thank u for ur reply.
I will keep focusing here and expecting some replies.

If you're talking about writing mail clients in java, you might want to start with a better forum. We're focused on Messaging Servers, here. Unlikely you'll get any Java programming from us.
If you're talking about Messaging Server, start by downloading the software from sun.com/downloads.

  • Can't get started!  Can I skip the Product Registration process?

I just bought a 12" G4 Powerbook. I think the previous owner did a fresh install of Mac OS version 10.3.3. When I turn it on, it goes to a "OS X Panther, getting started" menu, and it wants me to enter my Country, then U.S. keyboard settings, then a page where I'm supposed to enter my name & address & phone number ...
It says this info is used to "personalize my settings" (i can do that myself)
"store my contact information in the Mac OS X Address Book" (i don't want my info in the address book, and if i did i can do that myself)
and also "to register your product."
I don't want it registered. I want to skip this procedure and just get to the operating system so I can work with this computer for a few days and make sure everything is working properly. But I can't get past this - it comes up every time I start the computer.
I found this quote in some of the paperwork I have, "Your warranty is the same whether or not you register." (yeah the computer's old, the warranty doesn't apply.) So there must be a way to not register. Right?
Can anyone tell me how to get around this??

    You could supply a generic user name and equally nothing address;
I've done that with a computer so it would have an Admin account
without any real personal information in the computer at that point.
Then, later on, you could set up a daily user account with lesser
permissions that could be deleted. Have the second account be
the primary one to appear on startup. At that point, you have a
basic secure system set up without hardly trying.
No concern about registration, the computer had probably been
registered and the item and OS is now vintage or near obsolete.
I don't recall if the second or third re-install of some OS X I'd
put back in a computer I'd wiped the contents from, actually even
went to Apple; since I didn't have internet set-up & it was offline.
You can also change the value of the additional account added,
later, from Standard, to Admin, and so on. Or to few permissions
such as one would want if the computer were left with a child.
There are many things one can do, even in that version OS X.
By isolating the Admin account from automatic login on startup,
any chance encounter with someone messing around would be
limited to only whatever a lesser daily account had to offer; and
for that one, you could initiate other secure preferences such as
login options and other basics that do not compromise your use.
The computer by default will start in the Admin account unless a
few other steps are taken to complicate things for unwanted guest
visitors who may happen across the computer & cause mischief.
(I'd avoid setting up main FileVault; but an item such as require
password to wake computer, or access from screensaver, etc
could be handy in a few instances; among other options.)
By personalizing simplistically such as "iBook User" with a fake street
and mailing address, such as 123 Anystreet, Anytown USA 00000,
you can then choose to join your own internet or network at a later
time, even your wireless, & it should just work (plus WPA password)
by choosing your setup options carefully. The other accounts could
be given Admin status also, or less.
Be sure to check up on getting the last supported Flash and Shockwave
    players (and their uninstallers to be rid of the older versions) from Adobe;
and see about getting Mozilla-Camino 1.6.10 browser; plus other last
version updates to the OS, such as the final Combo update, quicktime,
java, and other items needed to carry the initial installation, complete.
    Anyway...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Newbie plea - can't get started!

Hi, I just installed HTML DB (1.6.0.00.87) which I downloaded last week.
I seem to have got everything up and running, but I can't log in!
I've created a "secondary" admin user as suggested in the FAQs (for forgotten password), but I still can't get past the admin page at: http://host:port/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin
I'm pretty sure I gave it "admin" as the admin password when I installed it, but it won't accept it. It won't accept the "admin2" password either for the new administrator.
What have I missed? Should I just forget this and go straight to V2.0?
    Thanks,
    Tarik.

    password in UPPERCASE?
Have you substituted host and port with the right values?
That info can be found in your apache configuration file.
Have you any errors in the apache error and access log?
Make it working in v1.6. Installation for v2 will be similar anyway.
    good luck.

  • How can I get started using MySQL?

I'm really new to jdbc and was wondering if someone could offer some help on where to get started with using java and mysql. I'm not sure if I need extra packages or what and resource of info would be great.
    Thanks

    Hi,
if I knew your environment I would have given you a better response, anyway, for now take this as a general guide
All the instructions here are documented either in JDBC Tutorial or MySQL documentation.
    1) download the lastest JDBC Driver from mysql website:
    http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-jdbc-stable.html
You download either one gz or zip files depends on your OS and unzip it.
    2) place the jar file:mysql-connector-java-3.0.9-stable.jar into your CLASSPATH;
    3) Thats it, just follow the direction in the JDBC Tutorial, like normal,
MySQL driver class name is: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
    the URL: jdbc:mysql://<host>:<port default=3306>/<database>?autoReconnect=ture
and change the host, port , and database according to your settings!
Note: I really do not recommend you using the JDBC-ODBC bridge, because it is a solution only if you do not have a direct JDBC driver to your database, its overhead anyway.
    Good luck!

Hi,I am from China. My MBP 15's montior went black one day while I was watching online vedios.I could still hear the sound of the vedio but nothing on the screen.I tried to restart my laptop only to find a black screen with a starting sound. When I closed the cover, the sleep indicator light was on steadily, not as ususal, blinking. After shutting it down, i put it in my drawer for about one month.Yesterday i managed to turn it on unexpectedly. Then i see a notification, something like "error -50",and then the monitor failed again soon.Is there anyone who is familiar with this? I appreciate any kind of help.
At the same time,i have another question about my warranty. My mother bought me the MBP in Cupertino last Oct .Unfortunately, she couldnot find the invoice. As a result,in the telephone my local authorized service provieder refused to repair it under warranty so i have to pay extra money for it.But i think i have the rights to get my MBP fixed using the provided service. After all, the warraty is avaliable till this Oct.What should I do or how can i file a complaint?

  • G3 Lombard - Can't get started with anything except OS 8.6.

    Hi,
I just bought a used Mac Bronze keyboard (Lombard). It was working great until i fixed it. (Yikes) By fixing it i mean I installed my software OS 9, and some other things that work on my 3400c. The Lombard didn't like that (OS 9.0) and wouldn't start. The Lombard Only boots with OS 8.6. After confirming that the CD reader was working fine. My Lombard would not start up with the OS 9 CD. (Flashing folder and question mark) Hmmmm Very strange. It also wouldn't go into SCSI hard disc mode. So I put the hard drive in my Mac 3400c and it worked fine. Hard disc mode and everything. While in Hard Disk Mode on the 3400c i put the OS 8.6 system and the finder back into the same folder and started up my Lombard. Perfect. It worked great. NOT leaving well enough alone I used the Norton disc utils on the hard drive. It fixed a few things and said it couldn't fix this last thing (i hit ok too quick to read what it couldn't fix). It also wouldn't start with the hard drive from the 3400c. (OS 9) Or even the hard drive from my Blue and white also OS 9. Any ideas?

OK i took the 8.6 system folder off the hard drive and replaced it with the 9.0 system folder.
Sorry, but I still don't understand clearly where an OS 9 System Folder came from, if you weren't able to start the Lombard with the installer disc. So which of these did you do:
Did you boot the 3400 to the installer disc, with the Lombard connected in SCSI Disk Mode, and then run the installer to install OS 9 onto the Lombard's hard drive? If so, the installation was tailored to the hardware of the 3400, because it was the host computer. That installation would be no more appropriate to boot the Lombard than the OS on the 3400's own hard drive is — and you know (now that you've tried it) that the 3400's drive doesn't boot the Lombard. In SCSI disk mode, the installer has no idea that the target disk is even part of another computer, never mind any information about the rest of that computer's hardware configuration. All it sees is the disk, and it assumes that that disk will be used to boot the host computer — exactly as if it were inside the host computer.
    OR
Did you simply copy the System Folder from the installer disk (without actually running the installer) to the Lombard via SCSI Disk Mode? That wouldn't work either: the SF on an installer disk is only bootable when it resides on that disk. A copy of it moved elsewhere will rarely if ever boot any Mac.
    OR
What other possibility is there? I can't think of another, but maybe you did. If so, what was it?
