I can't get the sound!

Hi! I can't get the sound by using itunes & mplayerx & other video players even though I turn up the volume, but I do hear the sound on Youtube and other online players. Why this situation happened? btw, my quicktime works well. I really like mplayerx, but I cant get the sound! Can someone help me address this problem? Thanks so much!

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

How can I get the sounds , like clicking,etc to work on iPad 2 with IOS 5. In the settings all sounds are on and the volume is high but I don't get a sound.

After downloading IOS 5, I no longer get the sounds on my IPAD 2 to work. They are on in settings and the volume is at maximum, but the sounds such as keyboard click, email sent etc, donor work.
Any suggestions.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Is this a separate application? Where did your nephew install it? If you do a force quit (command - option - esc) does it show up so you can force quit it?

I just got the
HP ENVY Phoenix 810-160 and I can not for the life of me get the sound to work. I am using it with a HP Envy 23 inch monitor that also has Beats audio and an HDMI cord hookup. I have gone through all the steps on the monitor support page and the desktops support page. Any help out there? Thanks in advance.

No, this is not going to work, you can't hook the desktop to the AiO 23 and get sound from the AiO 23.

Can't get the sound to work on my 5th Gen iPod 30gig movies

For some reason, every movie that I have on my iPod, mainly music videos, have no sound. I just bought this iPod and I am still learning how to use it, however I cannot find anything in the forums to help me troubleshoot this problem. Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

I make videos of myself playing the piano. When I play it back I find the quality of the sound on the video is not the best. I edit the video on my MacBook Pro. How can I get a better quality sound on my videos when I do them on my iPhone and edit them on my MacBook Pro?

the iphone is not a good sound recorder so if you whannting to record your self playing you need to consider were the mic is on the phone and how fare it is a way from the piano but if i was you i would record the video and get a mic in the senter of the piano and record both of thoes and the in the mac software sycranize them both to gever to get the best.

That link is no longer available. Use "Migration Assistant" to copy your Applications from your old mac to the new Mac, then immediately run software update. Aperture Version 3.2 will not run on your new mac with Mavericks, you will have to Upgrade to version 3.4.5 at least - you can download this update from the Support page: Aperture 3.4.5
Then launch Aperture and enter your registration key and try now too update from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 from the AppStore. The AppStore will change your Aperture registration to an AppStore version, so you will able to reinstall by downloading from the AppSTore in future.
If you want transfer only Aperture and no other applications, do it manually: You will have to copy not only the application but folders from the libraries as well:
/Applications/Aperture.app
/Library/Application Support/Aperture/
~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/

HT204291 we can only get the sound to transfer to the apple TV and not the picture

Using the NBC app on my iPhone and we are trying to get it to play through the TV. Not sure why only the sound will transfter.

Are you using Apple TV?
If so...
According to this source, the NBC app does not work with the Apple TV.
You might check the HDMI connection between the Apple TV and your TV. Unplug and replug a couple times. Also, turn off tv for a couple of the unplugs/replugs.
If not, are you using a HD adapter (30-pin to hdmi)?
double check the HDMI connection.
Let me know if you are not using either of these...

I can't get the sound to come through my headphones

The sound on my computer is working just fine but when I plug my headphones in, the sounds still comes through my computer. I know it isn't the headphones because I have tested them on other devices and they work fine.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something technical, I think we're talking about two different things. Yes, I understand your point about copying DVD's, copy protection, etc. But the main point of this, and other, threads is not about breaking copy protection; it's about successfully converting video to put it on iPod, and retaining the audio. I have a bunch of short, non-copy protected, non-copyrighted video clips on my computer that the Conversion tool in iTunes simply won't convert with audio. That's where the "muxed" thing comes into play, or whatever it is. My clips vary: some are .mpg, some are .avi, whatever. I don't think iTunes successfully converted a single one of them. I ended up downloading some third party software that I learned about in these discussion forums.
That's my point. Whatever it is that these third party programs do, why can't Apple make iTunes do it?
Am I missing something? Are what these programs doing tied into breaking copy protection? Is there some link between "de-muxing" (is that right?) and removing copy protection? I plead ignorance on this one.

I can't get the sound on my 3GS to switch to vibrate using mute button and I can't change the sound with the sound buttons.

All of a sudden I can't control the volume on my phone with the buttons. I've checked and "change with buttons" is on. When I toggle the mute or volume button nothing happens on the screen either. It was just working yesterday so I'm really confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!!!

If you mean play them back with the same MIDI information, and have the MIDI channel set up to control the external JV1080, yes you can. But if you mean control the Audio levels and such, I would recommend bringing the JV1080 back into logic on a Stereo input and grouping it with the Audio Instrument.
I have the o/p of the md player going into tape i/p of the mackie 1202- VLZPRO.
I believe the Tape inputs of a Mackie board goes straight to the output faders. Try another set of inputs.

I would recommend making sure the vibrate switch is not engaged. Some applications will be mute if the phone is set to silent. If the ringer switch is set to audible alert, try the steps in the second article below.
