I can't get this thing to work!!!!

I plug my ipod into my computer at work where I have itunes installed and it shows that the ipod is updating, actually showing the songs getting transfered! When the update is complete, no songs appear on my ipod, no memory is used according to the "settings" "about" screen, but itunes on my computer recognizes it and shows 11 gigs used. I tried resetting a couple of times with the same result-no songs on my ipod. I had itunes on my computer long before I owned an ipod, so this is baffeling. I realize that I'm probably a computer idiot, but this should be simpler.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

How can I get this program to work? I have used Adobe SendNow successfully for several years and am on automatic renewal and getting nothing but frustration for my money! I have been unsuccessful at sending anything in the past several months. Today while working on a deadline and many unsuccessful attempts to upload files, I signed up for a free trial at a competitor in order to get my files sent. Want a refund -- or better yet, keep my money and get it to work right again.

Another user who can't get this thing started, Listener will not operate!!!

I installed from root, used port 8085 for the database (8080 used by Tomcat) and 1521 for the listener. Logged out, log back in as user oracle. Takes three full minutes to "start" the listener, but netstat -a does not show any listener on port 1521, despite listener startup saying "Command successful". All firewalls are completly disabled, except for my router which has ports 8085 and 1521 open. So, 1) Where is the listing for the listening in netstat -a? and 2) Why are my database services blocked? I've been trying for a week to get this thing started, I need it for work. I can log in to the database through SqlPlus, so it is there and running fine, but the listener is not working, and I cannot get to the database home page.

Checked the listener log. Doesn't look good. Keep saying host or object does not exist!!

Z3 Compact is amazing! But can't get some things to work...

Hi everyone, this is my first Sony phone, which I bought to replace my Galaxy S4. Went this route because of the reported awesome battery life and because I was fed up with such a "big" phone, and wanted somethign smaller. The flagship-speced Z3 Compact was the obvious choice. I've only had it for close to 4 days, and I'm in love. Xperias Android Skin is so much smoother, complete and logical than Samsungs, while the phone is much cooler and premium-feeling. So far there's three things I can't figure out though. 1. By reading, it seems it's a common problem, some reporting some things fixed it, most don't Facebook Events and Birthdays to show up on the Calendar. My Galaxy S4 showed both. I've only managed to have events show up on my Calendar, but can;t figure out why Birthdays are not there, and how to add them. Any solutions? 2. Message/Notification counts. ON the Galaxy S4, Whatsapp and Line, for example, had a little balloon showing the number of unread messages/notification that the app was reporting. On my Z3 Compact, this is not the case, not even with something more "stock" such as Hangouts, which I use as default SMS client. I know it does such a thing, because the Email app does show the amount of unread emails in a orange-yellowish balloon. Help? Other than those two... I adore this phone. Got close to 60 hours of usual usage out of a single charge, with not a single moment of lag, performance drop or Stamina mode enablment.. That's witchcraft, if you ask me. 3. Email app: I can't find an option to have the client always show images by default, instead of always clicking "Show Images" and then "Always show images". Where can I set this up? That 'first applet' and (bracketed) part is my way of saying "applet deployment is a PITA".

Your comment about what Netbeans forces, amused me. I am running Ubuntu as my OS and when I recently changed over (from Win.) I tried to like Netbeans again - after having previously spurned it. I write a lot of SSCCEs, and the Shortest way to write them is to leave out a package statement. Since I could not see a way to get around NB insistence on packages (which is probably a good thing, in the long run), and was too lazy to remember to remove the package statement before posting examples, I put NB aside again, ..and added some Tools to the generic Ubuntu text editor (Gedit) to compile, run applets, and invoke Ant on build files.
Don't get me wrong. IDEs like Netbeans, Eclipse, JCreator and the like are fine tools and make some things very easy (refactoring code, drag'n'drop GUI development..), but to do that well, they require that the programmer understands both the (Java) code being churned out, and the intricacies of the IDE. What IDEs offer is not something I need often enough, to bother dealing with their intricacies.

How the bleepin-bleep do I get this **** thing to work?

I'm trying to create an automation that opens a series of excel files (got that to work), and then runs a series of steps (like the old macros used to do) on each one. However, my pseudo-macro doesn't work, all I get is a generic "encountered an error" error message. I can't figure out what is the error, I can't find any useful help documents, and I was even less successful trying to create an applescript to replace macros a few weeks back. I'm wasting more time on this "time saver" than it would take to repeat these 10 steps 120 times! HELP!

How do I get this thing to work?

I have Photoshop Elements 10 and Windows 7. When I first installed Photoshop it worked fine, then after a month or so it wouldn't open.
Under Case # 0184148455 Adobe gave me the following instructions:
1. Navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10, right-click on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file and select Properties;
2. In Properties window, select Compatibility tab;
3. Check the option "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP Service Pack 3;
4. Check the option "Run this program as an administrator", then click OK;
5. The click on Windows Start button, type %programdata% and hit enter, In Program Data folder, open Adobe folder and rename Photoshop Elements folder to Photoshop Elementsold;
6. Then double-click on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe file and check if you can launch Photoshop Elements 10.0
I followed these steps and lo! Photoshop opened.
That was about 6 weeks ago, now, today, again, Photoshop won't open.
I retraced the above steps and, after 5. I note there are now two folders, PhotoshopElements which contains two files: 10.0 6/9/13 and FileAgent, 6/9/13, and
PhotoshopElementsold which contains 10.0 3/17/13 and FileAgent 3/18/13 plus Catalogs 3/17/13 which is just an empty folder.

It worked! Thanks very much.

Can't get this html to work in safari

I want to put a boombox on one of my html pages. I have a
program from Coffeecup that does this. It changes mp3 files into
swf and then makes a flash player that plays the pieces. It there
fore makes an html file with the flash embeded, as well as a xml
file that contains the listt of pieces...and also a javascript.
When I go to the directory that Coffecup made, and click on
the html file , the page comes up with the boombox and it plays
fine. That is if you use firefox or Interrnet explorer. THE BOOMBOX
HOWEVER WILL NOT PLAY UNDER SAFARI. I need it to run under safari
becasue I want to put the boombox on a cd I want to distribute; to
PC owners as ell as Macx owners. Here is the code that won't work;

Note to self: when you experience weirdness on an iPad, just reset it:
1. "Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds"
2. Then turn on the iPad again by pressing the top corner switch

So I'm working with S Linked Lists and theres an add(E object) method that we are creating.
So its supposed to first check-well at least at some point in the method- that the object being passed in is of the same type as my SLL. If its not im supposed to throw a new ClassCastException.
I tried this at the beginning of the method:

I was assigned a final exam project, but most of the stuff we never actually saw in class, so I just have to figure it out for myself.
The part I'm stucked in (among other stuff) is:

This part of the code successfully created a group of JRadioButtons each with the names previously established in arean[ ]. However, I'm supposed to make it so that whenever I press any of the RadioButtons, the border of the JPanel changes as well. As it is, Java will put only the last name, and won't change it as I click the different JRadioButtons.
I'm not sure if I made myself clear, so if anyone is interested in helping me and needs further information, plz let me know.

If it's an array of Strings of area names, then the
append to an empty string in this line of code:
              areap.setBorder(new TitledBorder(""+arean)); is extraneous (as
well as being a nasty idiom anyway, IMHO). I see
that you removed it in your example...
I agree that the empty string is a nasty idiom (hence my removal of it). I figured arean had to be an array of Strings, if it is passed to the JLabel constructor (because toString on an Icon would probably be usely).
