I can't get two "room" objects to "glue" together in a floor plan

I can 't get two rooms to "glue" together in Visio 2010.
I've tried several ways to drag the "room" objects and handles around the floor plan but not only do the rooms not glue to each other, they snap or glue to other things (like ruler divisions), making it almost impossible to get the room walls to
overlap cleanly.
I found a forum posting somewhere where the respondent only suggested verifying default settings and I matched mine up with those, but that thread went cold without a solution.
What settings are required, and what steps are required, to glue two "room" objects together in Visio 2010?

You began your message with a question, but I think you understand "why I would want rooms to snap together", thus your work-around.
Nonetheless, the "big answer" is that I want to set the
room dimensions for each room individually (we're using Visio to place our belongings within each room) and then snap the rooms together to "build the house".
I started out by creating several rooms with correct dimensions (which I then locked with Developer / Protection).
That's when I discovered that the rooms "wanted" to snap to ruler divisions and geometry instead of to each other.
It's pretty clear that the room design templates / stencils in Visio 2010 have limited functionality - the "convert to walls" feature, for example, generates some pretty horrendous artifacts.
The second most irksome problem is connector routing - I've spent an hour or two doing nothing more than removing excess connection points because connectors insist on routing around some shapes, generating bizarre, wandering paths that I can't seem to disable.
But still, Visio 2010 is better for this purpose than CorelDraw and far better than "SmartDraw", and I don't have any CAD software. I just doubt that Microsoft has made Visio 2013 any better - Microsoft
seems to flip between simple maintenance releases and "grand" rewrites, failing to embrace anything like "continuous improvement".
Finally, the ribbon, a "blonde" solution at best, is particularly horrible in Visio - much of my work on this drawing has required me to switch among ribbon tabs.
Sorry for the rant, George, but anything I can learn to help with these issues will make the remainder of the job better.

Hi Anshu,
You can use the standard BO as the BO for your workflow and trigeger the workflow from its event. To pass values from the standard BO to the custom BO used in the activity step, you need to do proper binding between the std and custom BO in the activity step.
Do proper binding between event -> workflow -> task container.

Welcome to the forum.
As Steve observes, what you are talking about is called "PiP," or Picture in Picture.
He has given you the basics of creating a "split-screen" PiP, and that should be exactly what you wish to do.
For more detail, plus more ways to do PiP, I strongly recommend his book, Cool Tricks & Hot Tips for Adobe Premiere Elements 11, from Muvipix. He has an entire chapter (Chapter 10) on PiP, and many of its uses, with detailed instructions on the settings to accomplish it. Just that one chapter is worth the price of the book.

How can I unite two vector objects?

How to unite the red and green parts of the leaf into one solid green leaf? See attached “Leaf” file. (How do I attach the AI file?)
I tried the Pathfinder UNITE command and the Live Paint MERGE command.

Hmm, this is so simple, don't see why it's not getting solved. Must be some flukes involved. I'm not sure why Live Paint is being used - is not the goal to end up with just two main green shapes, uniting the red parts of the green shape on the right all together?
Mike, you see how you can easily adjoin two rectangles together drawing a rect on top of another rect and using Pathfinder Panel > Unite, right?
Oy . . . here we go . . .
First of all, verify there aren't unwanted copies of shapes stacked on top of each other, mucking things up. Unlock all layers (if more than one), refer to Layer Panel for this. Go to Object > Unlock All, if not ghosted. If ghosted, good. Proceed . . .
Using the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow), click in the filled area of one shape you actaully want to keep, you mkay have to zoom in to do this. be sure to click squarely in the fill of the shape, not on the path points or segments. With a shape selected, go to Object > Hide >Selection.
Repeat until all shapes you want are gone (hidden).
Go to View > Outlines (at top of View Menu). Do you see anything there? No? Good. But, if you do see anything, drag a box over it with the Direct Selection Tool and press DELETE, twice.
Now go to Object > Show All. Your hidden shapes are back.
Select them all with the Selection Tool (black arrow). Go to Object > Compound Path > Release, if not ghosted. Now go to Object > Ungoup, until it becomes ghosted. If already ghosted, good. Proceed . . .
Everything should be ready to work on now, if it wasn't already. The previous junk is all procedure seasoned Illustrator'ers just do on the fly with hardly a thought. Typical tedium of the vector rodeo.
Anyway - select all green shapes, go to Object > Hide > Selection. Get 'em outa the way for now.
Now zoom in close to a red shape. Select a point on a segment of it's path that it shares with it's adjacent green shape, but not on the outer edge! If there's not one, then add one, using the Add Anchor Point Tool. Drag that point with the Direct Selection Tool into where the adjacent green shape was before hiding it - making them overlap. Do this with both red shapes.
Go to Object > Show All.
Everything should be clean. Those little pesky red slivers are now overlapping their adjacent green shape. Select all shapes and hit Pathfinder Panel > Unite -OR- Pathfinder Panel > Merge (recommending Unite for this).
BAZINGA

In one FI posting can we have two real objects?

When I am posting FI document with two real Objects (WBS & Cost Center) still system is accepting and created document.
As per My knowledge in FI Document only one real object to be accept but my case it taking two real cost object, why?
Is there any logic & activity and change any setting for this?

Hi,
you can enter CO objects of more than one type in the FI document, but there is a "hierarchy" among the different object types that decides, which object gets the "real" posting. All other objects will only get a statistical posting, even if they are configured to allow real postings ( are "real objects" in your terms) .
Examples:
You enter a cost center and an internal order in the document: --> order gets real posting, center statistical.
You enter a profitablitiy segment and an internal order in the FI document --> segement gets real posting, order statistical one.

I would like to get the underlying object for which the ObjectReference is
a mirror For example, I have a class Customer in my application, and I can get an ObjectReference through JDI during runtime. But how can I get the target VM's object which is a real instance of Customer, by which I can invoke methods defined in Customer?

I'll preface this response by admitting this far from an elegant solution, but I did write a function addressing this question, mostly as an exercise.
If passed an object with an InTextFrame property (Pgf, AFrame, Cell, Fn) that resides in an open document, the function will return the Doc object. Otherwise, it returns undefined.

How can I get these two images to line up? I am stumped.....I have used auto-align, scale, etc.....but I get one side right then other side not aligned.

You are dealing here with a difference in image size between the top and bottom sections and perhaps a difference in verticality.
Consider the bottom units. The left side should shift right and the right side should shift left in order to align.
Your next move would be the adjust the size of one of the layers by using Edit > Transform > Scale. Hold down the Option key to maintain proportion.

Can findText find two different objects at once?

I have written a script that finds all italicized words, then compares them to a character style that italicizes characters. If there are any italicized words that do not use the character style, the user is alerted.
Of course, not all fonts use a fontStyle that equals "Italic." Some use a fontStyle called "Oblique."
I was trying to figure out how the findText function could find two fontStyles at the same time. My solution was to realize that each find is an array. So I made two finds and the concatenated the arrays. The resultant array (here called myFoundItems) elements can be searched through to find any that do not have the correct character style applied.
My question is if the findText function can find more than two different objects at once or are we stuck with concatenating arrays?
Below is part of the script:

The reason why you end up with an array of arrays is this: you define an array allMyFoundItems, then you iteratively collect other arrays using findText and insert ("push") these arrays into allMyFoundItems. Instead, you should use concatenate:

If you'll allow me a further comment, you could formulate your test to check whether a fontstyle name contains oblique or italic in one line:

As to formatting scripts in the forum, you can do this by wrapping your code in <pre> and </pre>. Also replace < with < (< causes all lines of code to be displayed on one line). You should also replace curly quotes with straight codes, and tabs with (non-breaking) spaces. I use the following script for that:

Copy the text of the script you want to prepare for posting, then run this above script. It creates a new InDesign document, pastes your script into it, and makes all the necessary changes. Then copy that and paste it into the forum.

Can't get two ipads to transfer apps

I have two ipads for work. I am unable to transfer apps from one to the other. I have done this before but one one of them when I hit "Purchased" it states that I cannot connect to the itunes store. I have even tried to transfer by hooking my ipad to my computer. What am I doing wrong?
