I can't hear Cortana or speak to her

Hi, I've been having an issue with Cortana. She's never been able to speak, even when she's supposed to practice saying my name. Also I noticed in Settings\System\Speech when I try to preview the voice for text to speech that won't work as well. The other
issue I'm having is that Cortana can't hear me. I turned on the option for her to respond to "Hey Cortana" and it still doesn't work. I have a built in mic in my laptop. I understand that this is just a preview version of the operating system so
I understand if you can't devote a lot of time to this problem. But if you have some ideas that I can try I sure would appreciate it :)

What about Narrator? As for recording you could try Sound Recorder. Oh, apparently we need to go to the Store to get Voice Recorder now? Then I'll be ready for it if I ever figure out how to make my Hyper-V expose my microphones.

If you have tried all the steps mentioned in this article Troubleshooting iPhone hardware , you'll have to get your phone checked by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider.

As absurd as that was, it actually worked. None of my system sounds were working either. I had used the iPod function of my iPhone last night, so I'm guessing that's what goofed everything up. Does Apple know about this yet?

New Palm Pre OS 3 days old and I can only hear using my speaker phone

I am pissed. Sprint can't seem to help me and Palm want to charge me to assist me. Are you having problems with your pre os? Plus there is no settings and/or tools and worst of all no freaking manual to research issues. Okay calming down but right now I think I am giving this thing back to Sprint and they can send it back to Palm!

I BELIEVE I HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM WITH ONLY BEING ABLE TO HEAR WITH JUST THE SPEAKER PHONE. I WAS LISTENING TO PANDORA THROUGH A HEADPHONE JACK THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE CAR SPEAKERS. WHEN I GOT HOME I PULLED THE HEADPHONE JACK OUT ( WHICH I HAVE BEING DOING FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW) AND RECEIVED A PHONE CALL ABOUT 10 MINS LATER. I COULD NOT HEAR THE PERSON CALLING BY USING THE INTERNAL SPEAKER AND HAD TO USE THE SPEAKERPHONE.
TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM I DIALED MY VOICEMAIL AND TURNED THE SPEAKER PHONE OFF. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME HEADPHONES HANDY. PLUG THE HEADPHONES IN, YOU CAN HEAR THE VOICEMAIL THROUGH THEM AT THIS POINT. I REPEATEDELY UNPLUGGED AND PLUGGED THEM IN WHILE SIMUTANEOUSLY MUTING AND UNMUTING THE PHONE (TRY TO DO IT AT THE SAME EXACT TIME AS YOU PLUG AND UNPLUG THE HEADPHONES). IT TOOK ME ABOUT THREE TRIES AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. NO NEED TO SEND THE PHONE BACK IN. JUST PLUG AND MUTE AND VICE VERSA A FEW TIMES AT THE SAME TIME AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE.

I can only hear callers in speaker mode.

My I-Phone 4 only works in speaker mode to hear callers. They can hear me fine. Tried many different things. Please help someone.

It is a glitch.
Try removing and inserting headsets many times in a row to clear any debris.

Problem with iphone 4 speakers, I can't hear during a call

The speaker on my iPhone 4 dosn't work during a call.
I can make and recieve calls but I can't hear from the speaker,
I have to make the headset. I apreciate all response.

Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

My speaker on my iPhone 4s stopped working. I can't hear my phone ringing, music, apps or use the speaker when having a call. I can still make and take calls when I see them calling but can't hear the phone ring.

This afternoon my speaker on my phone stopped working. I can not hear it ringing when someone call, but if I see someone calling and I answer the call they can hear me and I can hear them fine. I also can't not put the caller on speaker at all , I also can't hear my music or gaming apps. When I turn my phone on or off it does not make a sound as well. I have turned the phone off and turned it off by pressing the top button and home button at the same time and that did not work. I checked the volume and the mute button and the volume is up all the way. I don't know what else to do can you please help me?

I have had this happen to me on 3GS, 4 and 4s. Usually the solution is one of the following:
1- If your volume indicator says headphones even though they are not plugged in, then:
Stick your headphones into the headphone jack and then remove quickly.
2. If that does not work Power your phone off. Then when restarting Reset the phone by pressing the home button and the power button at the same time until the apple logo appears.
3. Make sure you have not chosen to send audio to an Airplay device such as Apple Tv.

Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
- Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
- Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
- While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
Restart and update
1. Restart your iPhone and test again.
2. If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.

Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

First of all, make sure that your iPhone as the most recent iOS available. Check in "Settings>General>Software Update".
One other problem could be your microphone. Does it work for anything else other than a call?
