I can't hear people when they call me but they can hear me!

Hi - does anyone have an email address to report this fault please? There are a number of people on our village (Berwick in East Sussex - BN26 6) who are experiencing exactly the same problem with their EE mobile phone and have been for almost a week now. How can I find out if this error has been logged and how long it will take to repair it? Thanks. Louise.

You will need to return the phone to the US. iPhone warranty is only good in the country of purchase, with the exception of the EU.

Don't jump all the way to restoring just yet. Check to make sure there's nothing in the headphone jack, and nothing covering the microphones (including the noise cancelling microphone at the top next to the headset jack)
1. Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
2. Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
3. Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
4. Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

I have never had this problem but I might know how to fix it. First, turn up the volume or get somewere with a good connection. If that doesn't work, then get ios 5.1

Voice recognition isn't typing out my dictation; I dont hear people when they are talking.

I was using Samsung Nexus on Saturday and got the green "Download Now" Android across my screen. Ever since then, I can't hear anybody talking on my phone (I have to use speaker all the time for phone calls) But what's strange is that my voice recognition doesn't hear me (even though people hear me on speakerphone) but I know it's hearing me because the microphone lights up according to my voice; and my "What's this song" in Google play doesn't hear the songs to search.

Build number is JDQ39, last checked for system updates yesterday. Didn't
say what it was downloading. Phone was fine that morning, shut off to
shower, turned back on and green "droid" came up saying "Downloading...do
not power off." Then, phone shut off and turned back on. Next time I had a
call, the ear piece wasn't working (I couldn't hear anybody talk when they
called so had to turn on speaker; then, when I dictated text, microphone
would move like it was hearing me, but nothing would ever transcribe onto
the phone; when I recorded things, sound wouldn't play unless I hooked up
earphones (which was weird as the speakerphone worked fine while people
would talk to me on the phone). Also noticed that ear piece and aux output
only produced sound through the right speaker. So strange cuz I was
listening to music through my ear buds that very morning and everything was
just fine.
I know these mechanical pieces work fine because they work in some
programs, but not in others. I also noticed some apps wouldn't work (many
Google plus aps, as well as the MY Verizon app. Yes, turned phone off/on,
even removed battery, and then removed SIM card as well to see if those
things helped. Backed up my stuff and then performed a factory reset.
Factory reset fixed the apps that weren't working (cuz it reinstalls them)
but never fixed any of the sound issues. No water, no physical damage.

Multiple people claim I called them, but I didn't, what does it mean?

I've been getting numerous calls claiming that I called them but when I go back to my call history, I didn't call them ever. What does this mean and is there a way to fix this?

That certainly is a conundrum! I want to help, appleiphone4s! So let me clarify, you do not have record in your phone, nor on your call logs online, that you called someone, however, they do? Correct? Could you explain a bit more about the calls they are getting? Do they pick up? What happens? Any message left? Do their call logs on the phone match what is showing online (http://bit.ly/xB4iTc) on the bill? It sounds like someone may be spoofing your number. This basically means that they are calling from another number, but using a program to make the call look like it's coming from your number. There really isn't any way to prevent this from happening. You always have the option of changing your number online to prevent these occurances. Please reach out if you have any other questions.

IPhone 3G not playing music/can't hear people when they call.

I have an iPhone 3G on the 3.1.2 OS, never jailbroken and no sort of drops or damage to it. Whenever I try to use the iPod function the "Play" button on the bottom of the screen flashes from Pause to Play and it just gets stuck like that. In addition to this my phone seems to not play voicemails nor will it allow me to hear incoming or outgoing calls. When it is taken off silent the phone makes no noise upon incoming calls/text messages. I have tried hard resetting(holding the home button + power/sleep) MULTIPLE times in a row to no avail, I have also restored the phone and once even gone so far as to set it up as a new phone. I don't know how but after about 5 or 6(sometimes more) hard resets it will work but that is just for a very short time. Any ideas/tips?

Personally I'm surprised that after reading "hundreds of thousands" of posts that you'd have time to check out details after 5 (or sometimes 6) resets of your iPhone about small details like this....
Be you one o' they 'Trolls' by any chance?
Just curious (being Restless, Foolish, and having too little energy for time-wasters, you understand?)....
If your 'resets' (if that is what they are - there is a difference between 'power-off'/'power-on' and 'reset') haven't worked AND your carrier has no assistance (if you've checked) then you're probably on your own.....

Treo not showing KNOWN people when they call. And another issue.....

When people/numbers that are IN my phonebook call me, my phone just shows the number and it says Unknown caller... After the call is complete...it doesn't ask me to add the unknown number(even though that option is checked in the phone preferences) Whats going on with my phone?

Appears that a preference settings file for the phone app is not working. Using Sprint right? Try to soft reset the phone first and if that is a nogo, try a hard reset and resync the phone to get the data back. Be sure to hotsync your phone first to back it up for the hard reset does erase ALL data off the phone.

People are naturally curious about your new N97 smart phone, they always ask the question 'how is the new phone?' and I I'm interested in how you answer them?.
How would you answer to:

Bearing in mind that these people will come back to you if they buy based on you advise, how do you answer?

Having said that, you guys have really put me off getting an N97. Guess I sort of expected some of the usual N-Series teething problems but it sounds like they're getting worse instead of better!
A lens cover that damages the lens?! What's next? A bullet proof vest that shoots the wearer?
