I can't import a png???????????

Boys and girls,
I dont know if this is a new glitch but I am trying to import a .png image that I have imported in to all my previous projects in 10.0.2 and it wont work.
Here in .3, I get that red screen witht exclamation point in the yellow triangle, I'm sure we all know it.
I restarted. Tried again. No luck.
I just made a new .psd and it worked....but still! Why doesnt the old .png work?
Anyonw having this issue?

Update: The only image I can import is a .PSD.
I cant import a .jpeg
I cant import a .tiff
I cant import a .png
I cant import a .bmp
(I'm just saying - before the solution is found - what if I didnt have PS?)

  • Can't import PNG, No File in Movie

I've just opened a project to continue working on it and I get a "no movie in file" message - and also if I click on the actual sequence to try to open it, followed by an out of memory message. (I've worked on project previously with no memory problems). All my movie clips seem to open - but I also get a file import error if I try to import any of the PNGs I use for the title screen or credits. My mac seems to have gone wonky since the last security update, as my dreamweaver has missing icons on the toolbar and my itunes has missing picture images when in the store (they just show broken link icon). I guess this is all related. I've tried disk utility and keychain first aid - but no joy.
I could really do with working on this FCP project but in its present condition it looks like I'd have to recreate it - but I cant import a simple PNG. All my previous versions of the project do the same thing. Anyone any ideas?

Hi thanks for the reply - the PNGs are RGB fireworks files - files that I use in every project but now I can't import them. I've tried the loading older autosaves, ditching the FCP prefs and render files. No joy - any other ideas?
If I hadn't imported these PNGs before I'd think it wasn't possible, but I know they should import... I could try bringing these in in a different format - but that wouldn't solve why I can't import and of course my sequence file gives the "no movie in file" error which is strange.
I've done quite a bit of tweaking to this project so I'm hoping I can get into it somehow and not have to start recreating everything... OMG.

  • How to import a png file to imovies ?

    hey guys!
if someone could help me on this.
I have managed to import a png file by drag and dropping in on top of my video and having the advanced tools on i have the choice of placing my png within the picture. that works fine and plays smooth. however when i add another png file to another frame the parts with a png layer on top do not play...
does anyone met this as well?
any suggestions?what do i do wrong?
it would mean a lot if someone could help i have a deadline tmr morning!!
    thanks,
    Anna

You can tell the aspect ratio of your project by clicking FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES.
You can tell the dimensions of your PNG file by right-clicking it in the Finder and selecting Get Info. You should see the dimensions of the PNG. You can divide the longest dimension by the shortest dimension to find the aspect ratio. For example, 1920 divided by 1080 is the same as 16 divided by 9, which can also be written as 1.78

  • Can't import .mov file how to convert it

    Hi Guys
I have been sent ten .mov video files which i can open it in quick time but can't import into imovie 09
I have tried to re-save in quick time but didn't make any difference, the files are still not able to import, also the person who sent them labeled the files with a / in the name I changed this but still made no difference,
    the properties are
    H.264, 320 x 240, Millions
    AAC, 2 channels, 32000 Hz
    FPS: 12
    data size: 474 KB
    data rate: 198.26 kbit/s
    current size - 478 x 359 pixels
I want to be able to import them all into imovie 09 so I can edit them and join together, can you recommend a reliable free software that I can do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    P

Thanks so much for the great advice, I downloaded mpeg streamclip and I have been playing around with converting my video.
There are many different options and I have tried a few but the quality of the picture is slightly pixelated. Can you advise me about the best option to use to get the best quality picture.
I want to be able to edit it in imovie, so I was exporting it to quicktime but there are many other options which would you recommend?
When I exported it to quicktime I tried the following options
    I have tried compression -
    Apple motion jpeg A
png - sound played but picture was frozen and didn't play
Tiff - same thing as png
but there is an endless list and I'm not sure what it all means.
There are also many different frame sizes, I use (4:3) in imovie but it also had a 320 x 240 unscaled I'm not sure what this means?
Are there any other options/boxes I should be altering/checking?
Sorry for asking so many questions.
I'm not really very familiar with all these terms, it's a completely new language to me.
Any advice would be really appreciated
Thanks again for helping me out : )

  • Can't import any images into iPhoto

    Hello,
I am on my honeymoon and trying to offload pictures from my camera but have found that I can not import any pictures into iPhoto. I am unable to import any file, not just the ones on my camera. I have tried jpgs, gifs, and pngs from various sources and none of them import.
So far I have tried holding down option and creating a new library, deleting the plists, rebooting, and reapplying the latest iPhoto update. Does anyone else have suggestions for me to try?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • CS3 - can't import jpg - files grayed out - Mac

I'm trying to complete a tutorial in Fireworks CS3 on Mac 10.5.6.
The step I'm stuck on is:
"Select File > Import and browse to the following folder on your hard disk:
    local_sites/cafe_townsend/fireworks_assets/
    Select banner-mockup.jpg and click Open.
An insertion pointer appears indicating where the upper-left corner of the graphic will be positioned."
None of the JPG files are selectable, they're grayed out.
Other files in that folder, TXT and PNGs are selectable.
Other JPGs that are not in the folder indicated are also selectable.
I can drag the file from Finder into the Fireworks document ok.
I've checked the Sharing & Permissions on the files and containing folders and they all have Read & Write.
I copied a JPG that was selectable for import elsewhere into the fireworks_assets folder, and it's still selectable (not grayed out).
The files were copied & pasted in an earlier tutorial step from a different folder (Macromedia Fireworks 8/Tutorial_assets).
Trying to import them from the original location also fails.
So it seems there's something specific to these JPGs causing Fireworks to not want to import them.
    I can't figure out what.
The specific file I can't import is attached.

Not sure why you can't import the file, I'd suspect something is goofed up with the actual JPEG if you can import other JPEGS with no issues. However, if you can drag and drop or  copy and paste the image into your Fireworks document then you're ending up with the same results the tutorial is aiming for anyway.

  • I can't import prproj-files to another Project as before

    Hey,
since I updated Premiere Pro I can't import projects like the way I want. I made a sequenz with some video, audio and effects: http://puu.sh/gEB8n/831acf7fa4.png
but when I import it to a new project, it will only be shown as one long video and audio track: http://puu.sh/gEBV3/137853ad4d.png
Why did this change and what can I do so that the project is imported as I saved it???

Thank you, that helps me a lot.

  • Importing any PNG freezes and crashes Flash CS4

After being able to import multiple large PNG files into my Flash project, Flash CS4 now freezes and crashes whenever I attempt to import any PNG image, regardless of size or transperancy. This happens on any flash project, even brand new ones.
Importing a PNG file into the library freezes flash and I have to open the task manager to close it. Interestingly, when I try to end the task, flash still asks if I want to save changes, as attempting to import the PNG results in a new, blank symbol added to the library. I can re-open the file with the blank symbol but because it is blank this doesn't help me.
Dragging and dropping a PNG file straight onto the project crashes Flash straightaway and prompts me to send an error message to Adobe.

    Thanks Anton for your reply!
I'm 100% sure that the PNG file is not the problem.
I can donwload any PNG file on google and they all freeze Flash.
I noticed that the program won't react to any mouse command. I hear the
generic windows "ding!" sound when I click on something, but my keyboard
shortcuts still works. I can close or save the file, change tools, etc.
It happens since the middle of February, I'm not sure when.
Before that, I've never had any problems with importing PNG.
Also, I haven't installed any new program recently.

  • LR 5 can't import photographs

I upgraded my iMac to Yosemite and updated LR to 5.7.1. After these are done, I realised I could not import photographs like I used to do.
I tried looking in the forum where some foun da solution by remove xmp file. I did not have such problem.
    What should I do?
    Kelvin

i've heard people taking about the permissions issue. Is it some settings or options in iMac or LR that require tweaking?

An alternative way to import photos from a folder would be to drag-and-drop the folder onto the central area of the Library panel.  It would open the same Import panel with the same folder selected, but perhaps with a different result.
Another couple things I can think of is that there is a permissions issue or the folder is empty.

  • Can I import into Illustrator and modify a drawing in Appleworks?

Can I import into Illustrator and modify a drawing in Appleworks?

Depending on the detail/complexity/accuracy of the graphics,  you will not likely find back-and-forth wokflows between PostScript-compatible drawing programs (Illustrator, FreeHand, Canvas, Draw, Xara) and OS-meta format (QuickDraw, Quartz, WMF, EMF) based programs ("Works" or "Office" applications) very satisfying.
You encounter instance-specific caveats stemming from two basic issues:
PostScript compatible drawing programs use cubic Bezier curves; two curve handles per path segment. "Works" or "Office" type drawing modules typically use simpler quadratic Bezier curves; one handle per path segment. So going back and forth between involves geometric translations and re-translations which wreck the practicality of editng the paths. PostScript drawing programs use cubic curves for good reason: more shape control with fewer anchors.
The OS-specific meta formats are really not designed for the device-independent resolution fidelity of commercial print. Resolution in vector drawing? Yes. Vector paths are essentially mathematical formulae for *plotting* curves onto a raster grid. (Everything is eventually rasterized; the practical difference between raster and vector graphics is a matter of when.)
So it's a matter of accuracy; the "fineness" of the theoretical grids the curve-handling format/application is designed to plot upon . Meta formats are more about drawing an acceptable shape onscreen, and you can kind of think of what gets sent to a dumb printing device (one without a PostScript "brain") as a glorified enlarged screenshot. The path objects you draw in a PostScript compatible program that have smooth curves that scale well both upward and downward often translate to meta formats as paths with ugly flats or extra kinks that become apparent when scaled. These caveats are unpredictable and tedious to correct. The bother ends up outweighing the advantages you are seeking.
In a nutshell, that's why Illustrator's effective "recommendation" for exporting to Office applicaitons (Save For Office...) is the lowest-common-denominator approach of defaulting to a common raster format (PNG), even though Windows does have a vector-based format (EMF) which Illustrator can export to.
If what you're trying to do is just a one-way trip from some legacy AppleWorks drawings to Illustrator, you'll need an intermediary translation from .awk to something Illustrator can import. You may be able to find an open-source software for doing that.

  • How can I import a downloaded title?

I downloaded several titles from videoblocks.com and would like to know if I can download it to iMovie. Any ideas?

You can easily import the titles by using File/Import Movie...
But the problem will be getting Text into your Titles. There are not multiple layers in iMovie like there are in Final Cut Pro.
The built-in iMovie Titles have text boxes. But I don't know how to add a title to an imported title. The workaround would be to figure out where you need the text, and create a .png slide in Photoshop, Acorn, or Pixelmator (or photo editor of your choice) that puts the text where you need it. Then drag this photo on top of your title as a Cutaway.
In Final Cut Pro X with Motion, this is much more straightforward.

  • How can i import contacts from another AIM account to this new one

If you reference my last ichat question, you will see that I have had serious problems and had to create a new account.
How can I import contacts from another AIM account to this new one??

    Hi,
Use AIM for Mac and use the Export and Import features.
Other than that it is a question on making sure every Single Buddy has more than just their Screen name in the IChat Address Card so it is added to the Address Book and dragging them back from there

  • How can I import my old Appleworks spreadsheets into Neo Office or Pages

I am a new MBP owner and have some spreadsheets in Appleworks from my old iMac. I don't have Appleworks on my new MBP. I have downloaded Neo Office and could use it to create a new spreadsheet but can't import my previously created ones. Must I retype then? Or...as an alternative, I have iWorks. Can I import them into Pages? How? Thanks for any help.

The above suggestion didn't work for me. However, I did find this site that helped me--and it might help someone else:
    http://neowiki.neooffice.org/index.php/OpeningAppleWorksdocuments
It worked for spreadsheet--now I have to try to convert a data base document in Appleworks.

  • Upgraded to 10.6.8 and now can't import photos from Olympus camera

    1. Recently bought a new Olympus VR310 digital camera.  I couldn't get either Image Capture (6.0.1) or iPhoto (9.1.5) to import images from day one, onto my Mac Mini running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  However, if I took the SDHC card out of the Olympus and put it into an older  Canon Ixus digital camera , and used that to upload, then both Image Capture and iPhoto worked perfectly.  So it's not the card.  Or the USB connection.  It's something special to the Olympus and the Mac.  Obviously I tried all the usual stuff about dumping plist files etc.  Nothing worked.
    2. The problem manifests itself, when the Olympus is connected,  as Image Capture being unable to show more than one, if any, thumbnails, and it is unable to import at all.  In iPhoto the problem manifests immediately it calls up the Olympus as a connected camera.  The dreaded spinning beachball of death kicks off, and the program 'stops responding'.  Even after I quit iPhoto and unmount the Olympus, iPhoto will not open without the spinning ball of death until I restart.
    3. Anyway, I tried connecting the Olympus to my son's Macbook, (System 10.6.7, Image Capture 6.0.1 and iPhoto 9.1.1) and all worked perfectly.  Hmm… so it's NOT just down to the Olympus.  It's something to do with my setup.
    4. I also have a bootable USB drive connected to the Mini, so I booted into that, so I then have my computer and my user preferences etc running under the bootable drives System 10.6.6, Image Capture 6.0.1, and iPhoto 9.1.5.  That worked perfectly with the Olympus too.  So it's not my the combination of my user settings, Image Capture 6.0.1, or iPhoto 9.15, or the  Olympus.
    5. My guess then was it was some corruption of the system on the Mac Mini.  So I reinstalled the Mac Mini system, from the install DVD, so I had a nice fresh Snow Leopard 10.6.0.  That gave me Image Capture 6.0.1 and iPhoto 9.1.5.  When I attached the Olympus, everything worked perfectly.  Great.
THEN, I updated the system from Apple's Oftware Update, all the way to 10.6.8, which is where I started from.
    6. And guess what.  Nothing works anymore. Immediately before the update, the Olympus importing worked.  Immediately afterwards it didn't.  I'm back where I was at the beginning, with exactly the same problem..  I can't import from the Olympus but the Canon is fine. (see 1 and 2 above)
So, it seems to me that the Upgrade straight to 10.6.8 is what caused the problem.  And given I could get the Olympus to work on my son's computer (system 10.6.6) it's something between 10.6.6 and 10.6.8.  Why the Canon works on all the permutations, and not the Olympus, I don't know.  I don't know why the  Olympus ONLY doesn't work with 10.6.8.
    7. Obviously there are tedious workarounds (but none that lets iPhoto capture the photos directly) which I can use to get the images into iPhoto eventually, but hey, this is an Apple Mac, who wants to be doing tedious workarounds all the time.
I've had Macs since 1984  (I'm that old…) so I'm a fan, and I'm reasonably competent, but this has me stumped.
    Any ideas, anyone.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Ian Waterston
