I can't import mp3 downloads I have into iTunes.

I have tried to drag the mp3 file and drop it directly into my iTunes but it wont show the song in my library. Doing this worked up until about a week ago and now I can't seem to be able to import any of my mp3 files. I've tried going into 'File' and clicking on 'add file to library' and selecting the mp3 file i want to import and it doesn't say that there is a problem with transferring it but none of the songs will show up in my library still and it's extremely frustrating.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are having trouble importing music into iTunes. A frustrating situation for sure. The first article should help get the music imported. The second article shows what formats are compatible with iTunes.

How can I import Windows Media Player Playlists, into iTunes Playlists, with Music . .  for an iPod
We are having no luck with the thousands of songs we have to manualy add to a particular playlist in iTunes alone. .. there must be a simpler way! How can this be done . . . if there is and it's complicated, is the Genius allowed to help us out with this? They seem to only master Mac's only. .  or can they help us? PL E A SE E E  HELLPPP!

    tt2,
Your very helpful and knowledgeable. I for one appreciate all the hardwork and help you have been giving the people on theses lists, especially with the problems associated with the "importing playlists" from windows media. Unfortunately I need more help if you or someone else can provide it. I followed all the steps you have instructed so far in the threads I have seen. Unfortunately nothing so far works for me. Maybe you or someone can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I tried the notepad++ method and when I click on save I always get a notepad file that my iTunes can't do anything with. I click the "convert to UTF-8 without BOM" then click save as and it still saves as a notepad file. I am also unable to find the \n\ file path to replace with my \C:\ filepath. Here is a copy of the first part of one of my playlists:

Now I went and switched the part from  <media src="..\ to <media src="C:\ in all the files in hopes that was where I am supposed to have my drive letter but it didn't seem to help. Please forgive my encoding ignorance if that's what my problem is. I hope you can help.  Thanks in advance.

  • Can't import mp3 already in disk to Itunes

    Hi all,
    First of all background:
    - I don't find myself as a computer wizard, but I understand a lot.
    - I just bought my first ipod nano
    - I'm sorry if this answer has already been answered but i couldn't find it.
I was offered an ipod nano, and the first thing i did was downloading the latest itunes. Then i started to add mp3 i had on my computer to the itunes library. But something really weird happened.
Some files did not go into the library but no error message appeared.
First of all i thought it was an error with the file (mp3) but then i played it in the Windows Media Player 11 and all went fine.
But this gets more strange: Files that i have in my computer belonging to the same album, with the exact same ripping have different behaviours, some of them are imported to the library others aren't.
    They are all DRM free
    They are all MP3
They all have a bitrate of 320 Kb/s (i know its too much)
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

After lots of search and trial and error i now believe the problem must be related to the Tags with the mp3.
Can anyone enlighten about what tags are supported and if there are any known issues?

  • Can I import AVI QuickTime home movies into iTunes

I have some home movies I would like to place into my iTunes. I take the icon of the movie, and I place it over the iTunes and a plus sign appears, however when I release the mouse, the movie does not imports into iTunes.
I have also tried to go to the iTunes menu, choosing file, add to library and choosing the file. But it does not work ether. I still do not see that the video has been imported into my iTunes.
Can any one tell me what am I doing wrong?
I thought it would be easy to import my videos to iTunes.
The music videos I have downloaded from the iTunes store have downloaded well. Are they a different format?
    Hope you can help.

I don't think iTunes will take AVI files directly. You will have to convert it.

  • How can I import my home movies (.dv) into iTunes?

I'm getting frustrated with the lack of information about converting movies with all the recent upgrades. I have many short home movies in a variety of formats (.dv, .mov. Mp4, etc) - how in the world can I get them into iTunes (and ultimately on my iPad) so I can share them? It looks like Quicktime Pro is no more and Quicktime 10 is grayed out under all the share options? I'm at a loss - do I need to go back to the original iMovie files and save as something else??? Thanks much!
Everything I have is the most recent, most up-to-date version you can have. Quicktime, iTunes, OS, iOS, etc - it's ALL the most recent version. Running a iMac G5 and iPad2.

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • How can i import vlc media file ( avi ) into itunes -?

it does not import through file add folder / file to library though an mpeg 4 movie, mpeg 4 vido file or a gets imported and even a vlc media file ( .mpg ) gets imported.
Is it so that an avi willl not get imported into itunes and i will have to convert it into another format ?

Use MPEG Streamclip to convert it to MPEG-4. This won't work for all AVIs.

  • I can't import mp3 or caf files into my project

I have FCPX 10.1.4 on a MacBook MacBook Pro 2,3 GHz i7 running Yosemite 10.10.1. FCPX version 10.1.4 I recently updated to this version of FCPX and now when I drag and drop a jingle from my iLife Sound Effects folder to my project or when I import a mp3 I can see the file but I can't see any waveform and I can't hear it. When I preview the music in the inspector I can hear it perfectly. I don't remember FCPX being like this.
    When

Correct. That's not how it's supposed to work on the latest version as well. MP3 files should import and be converted to WAV. The jingles should work too.
First suggestion: hold down option and command keys when you launch FCP and delete preferences.

  • Can not Import a home made CD into itunes

I recorded some music and burned a CD.  The songs are MP3 files.  When I put the CD in my PC, itunes will not import the songs.  It won't even give me the option of importing the CD.  The songs are recogonized in the database, but it will not import the CD.  When I tryt to play the songs a window will pop up saying, "The Song Could Not Be Used Because the Original File could not be found".  Would you like to locate it.  It can play the songs from the CD only.  How do I get these songs imported

I'll guess that you have an MP3 CD rather than an audio CD.
Assuming that is the case, do the following:  Insert the CD and open it in Windows (not iTunes).  Drag the MP3 files to your hard drive.  Remove the CD.  Now drag the files from the hard drive into the open iTunes window.

  • Can't import mp3

can't import mp3 made in Sounbooth cs5 to Flash cs5 ? Help is needed ?

Flash gives an error that "Couldn't import xyz.mp3" that's it.
I posted this message in 2010 when I was having the same problem with CS4. But then it was working fine with CS5, but now the problem is back ?
    From 2010...
I am using Flash and Soundbooth CS4, I have been working in XP and in Vista. Just moved to Win7 and now the same MP3s we have been using for years will not import to Flash. We have always used Sample Rate 48000 mono and Bitrate 48 Kbps mono. I downloading the trial version of Audition CS5 and with the same Sample Rate and Bitrate the files import fine. Another gentlemen that works with me verified the same issue on his Win7 machine. I bought the eLearning Suite that comes with Soundbooth, so I would not like to have to purchase Audition.
Any other ideas on this are very much appreciated.

  • I am re importing all my CD's into iTunes. I used a higher Kbps in mp3. I am up to almost 7,000 songs, and the Gb's used is almost at 50 gigs. Am I able to lower the Kbps so I can bring down the gigs used without having to re import the CD's all over agai

I am re importing all my CD's into iTunes. I am using a higher Kbps in mp3 format. I have over 6,000 songs so far, and I have already used around 50 gigabytes. I want to know that if I want to change to a lower Kbps instead in mp3 to lower the gigs used, how can I do that without having to re import all my CD's all over again. My iPod Classic is the 160 Gb model. My version of iTunes is 10.6,and I am using a Windows 7 computer.

You could try my script ConvertFormat and see if you like the results. Would be easier than inserting the CDs and correcting the tag info again. Just be aware this is a one-way trip. Once you've thrown away some quality to shrink the files you can't get it back without going back to the source. You may better off investing in a bigger drive.
If you just want to squeeze more on the iPod you can use the built-in iTunes option to convert files to a lower bitrate as they are added to the device.

  • How can I import or download AVCHD files on a memory card to FCE?

How can I import or download AVCHD files on a memory card to FCE?

What camera is this from? Make sure it is actual AVCHD and not some variant such as AVCHD Lite which is not supported.
Also, try this: In the Log and Transfer Pane, click on the Gear icon do set the preferences and set the Import
Preferences > AVCHD Plugin > AC3 Audio to Plain Stereo.
You can also download a trial version of Clipwrap and see if by converting the files to AIC with that software, then importing the files to FCE you have better luck.

  • Can't Import MP3 or AAC Files

    Hello All,
I can't seem to import MP3 files (or aac) into Garageband. I've tried dragging a variety of formats and sample rates (including 44.100). If I drag an MP3 from Itunes to a space in the time line, it says "importing file" but then no waveform or file shows up anwhere! Maybe I'm doing something stupid, but I've looked at every tutorial video and how to video I can find and I can't figure out if I'm just missing something.
Macbook Pro 2008, Garage Band 4.1.2 all updated.
    Thanks,
    Ian

    UPDATE
After much experimentation, I realized that files which I imported to my new MacBook Pro from an original source (downloading or ripping from DC) can be imported to Garageband on that computer. I discovered this by organizing my library in Itunes by the "Date Added" field. All other songs that won't import to GarageBand were transferred recently from my old Dell.
I also played around trying to isolate the issue.
    1. I took a file that had been imported from my dell to the Itunes on my new MacBook pro. It wouldn't import to GarageBand.
    2. I re encoded it as a WAV file using Itunes. Then it would import ok.
    3. I re encoded the WAV file back to MP3 using Itunes. It would then import again ok.
So it seems it's how the file is encoded that is the issue. The original MP3 file that wouldn't import to GarageBand was a high quality 320KBS, 44.100 kHZ copy. Only after using the Itunes encoder would it work. But the odd thing is new files I download to the MacBook computer work fine too.
Go figure. If anyone has a suggestion for how I can make GarageBand recognize the thousands of songs I imported from my old computer I'd appreciate it. Ideally it's an easy fix!!
I also tried to reimport an older file from my Dell in case it was file path issue (which doesn't really ever happen with macs, right?). I deleted the old file off my hard drive. Then I had Itunes reimport the file from my desktop. That would work. It took totally converting the file using Itunes to make it work with GarageBand.
Hope this helps some confused soul out in cyberspace.
    Cheers,
    Ian
