    Luis,
Just to clarify one point…in order for Streamclip to convert the MTS I believe a plug-in like the AVCCAM QuickTime importer from Panasonic needs to be installed. (Credit David McClain over at the FCS boards for that info.)

  • Help needed. Can I import MTS files directly into FCE?

I am currently using iMovie, but iMovie doesn't recognise the .MTS files that my Panasonic AG-HMC41E produces.
I was thinking of upgrading to Final Cut Express, but I don't know if that will solve the problem or not.
Can anybody confirm that FCE will enable me to directly import .MTS files?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

As far as I have heard, transcoding to Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) makes a file that scarcely looks different from the original MTS; I should remind you that if you were able to ingest the MTS files directly into iMovie or Final Cut Express, they will do the same thing - transcode to Apple Intermediate Codec; they're just doing it within the interface of a capturing process. When they are ready for editing, they are now AIC. An app like Streamclip or ClipWrap is just helping you get this done outside of FCE or iMovie.
ClipWrap 2 can rewrap your mts file as a MOV and leave it untouched - quality is the same. However, FCE won't edit that without having to render a lot. It's best to transcode it to AIC.
There is a higher quality codec than AIC, called ProRes, but only Final Cut Pro can edit this.

  • Can't Import AAC file into Premier CS4

    Hello!
As the title says, I'm not able to import AAC files into my Premier Pro projects.  The funny thing is that these files were created in Premier Pro CS4, so what gives?  I took the audio out of a video and exported ONLY the audio in AAC format.  But when I want to import these files into a project, it gives me a file not supported message.  What am I doing wrong?

It says the codec is installed, so it should work no?  I mean, like I said in the OP, I created these files in Premier Pro.  I find it odd that I can't import files I created in the same program I used to export them.
I do agree that if you Export a file from a program, it should Import into that same program. That similar once did, but do not now, indicates that something has changed. Trying to find out what that is can be a bit time-consuming and can lead to dead ends.
I would try the Export again, but use PCM/WAV, to make sure that that method, format will work.

  • Can't import .mts file

    Hello
I just got a Sony HDR-CX700 and I'm trying to import the .mts files using Adobe Premier Pro CS5. When I click Import and browse to the camera drive -> folder-> .mts file, it shows the file but when I click on the file, nothing happens.

I use Canon Vixia MTS files, and I copy the folder/files from the camera to my video data drive, and then import into PPro from the hard drive

  • Can't Import .MTS Files

So, I have Premiere Pro CS5 installed in my school’s computer lab, which is full of iMacs (they’re the previous models that were out before the late 2012 models), and can’t seem to upload any .MTS files into Premiere. (I’m importing them from a Canon HF R400.) My iMac at home can do it just fine and is running the same version, but for one reason or another none of the school computers can open them. Everything else seems to work just fine inside of Premiere besides that, which is why I’m so confused.
I’ve read the previous posts and tried everything, but to no avail. What can / do I need to do in order to fix this? Do I just have to reinstall Premiere on all of the computers again or is there something a little less annoying I can do? Thanks!

Do the school's computers have the latest version of QuickTime installed?

  • Can't import .cine files to PP CC2014

I had mixed emotions when I was forced to migrate from PP CS6 to PP CC2014.  One of the few things that excited me in this transition was the support for working with .cine Vision Research Phantom Raw files.  The amount of time and drive space I was chewing up converting my .cine to uncompressed .tif and/or .mov was depressing.
You can imagine my dismay when I went to import my first .cine and I received the message "Unsupported format or damaged file..." when importing to PP.  Has anyone been successful?  Some must have, since I've seen several discussions that after import I would have to deal with color correction problems.
At any rate, does anyone have any advice?  I'm running Windows 7, CC2014 and Vision Research PCC 2.3.741.0 64-bit.  I'm using MIRO-series monochrome cameras (so I'm hoping the color correction issues discussed above won't affect me!)
I have tried both the CINE version and the CINE RAW version of the files and PP CC2014 fails to import either of them.  The files show up in the Media Browser (meaning PP recognizes it as a valid format), but a preview does not appear.  The files don't appear to be "damaged", at least as far as Vision Research PCC is concerned.
Any thoughts on what I should try here?

    To do the first tests,
I ripped the streams from movies (NTSC and PAL) into big files M2V, audios AC3 and DTS using DVD Decrypter.
No problem to reimport the M2V and AC3 files but I got that warning message since the beginning.
Then I install the codecs K-Lite Codec pack i downloded from the Internet. It didn't solve the problem.
I've got those OS Errors while using the Mod Soccer Submenu. psd temperate when I tried to delete it because of a "end of file" error message when burning as DVD files on the hard disc.
Those warning desappeared immediatly after I restarted the computer and deleted that temperate from the project menu and replaced it with an other. I am not the only one who's having problem with that specific temperate.( Read from other users comments )
PS: I can't use Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 with my desktop because the processor is an Athlon XP 2600 ( SSE2 not supported. What a pity! )
I hope You've got enough info and can advise me what to do.

  • Can I import MTS files into Final Cut Express?

It seems like FCE only reads MOV and MP4 files, and sometimes it doesn't even read those for me. Is there no easy way to import and edit MTS video files?

If the source files are HD, then use Clipwrap:
    http://www.divergentmedia.com/clipwrap
and convert the source files to Apple Intermediate Codec.

  • Mts files cannot imported with audio in pro cc6. how i can import mts files with audio?

when i am importing mts files in pro cc6. every time it is being imported without audio. though original mts files have audio. how can i import mts files with audio in cc6?

To clarify Media Browser suggestion - very important that you copy ALL content from SD card to hard drive before importing using Media Browser. If you only have the .mts files alone, there is stuff missing that is needed for Premiere to properly interpret the video/audio.

Got it now.Your hint about importing from the top level of the file system makes sense, and yes I was not importing correctly from the camera. I was triying to import manaully by searching for the sream file and selecting the mts files on there. when I tryed imporing from the inernal memory of the camera and not from the sd card it worked just fine. Thanks
If I am using files on the sd card can I import them in some way ?

  • Can't Import WMV Files - Header Error?

Hello, talented and attractive Adobe Forum.  Weird problem with Premier Pro CS5 - when I try to import an AVI file I'm getting a message telling me that it can't import the file because of a header error.  Can anyone tell me what that means, exactly?  These AVI files were converted from MTS files using a freeware program, HD Converter, by Coyote.  I've used this app before without a problem and the guy who's using my old software (CS3) is using these files without a problem.  Any reason why CS5 might be having this issue with them?
Any advice or suggestions welcome and appreciated.
    Thanks!

    thanks.
after reading about movie headers, i have come to believe that adobe could support wmv formats. but simply chooses not to do it.
apparently a lot of other software providers have made the same decision.
here is the really funny thing....i tried to make a dvd from the wmv files using microsoft's own dvd maker program
that they ship w windows 7. guess what - that does not work either!!!
apparently no-one, including microsoft, likes the proprietary microsoft format and don't feel like taking the time
to figure it all out. i cannot blame them.
what would be great - if adobe would just let you know that they do not support it, instead of the cryptic error message
about not being able to read the header. but then, adode is like that. they are so obtuse.  they remain commited to
    providing an incoherent user experience.
in the meantime, you just have to convert these formats.
I found a great shareware program called Hamster. It is totally free and has a lot of great reviews. It is easy to use. you
    can get it on cnet.com.
I converted the WMV to AVI, which loaded into Premiere Pro and I was able to finish my video.

when i import .mts file in cs4 it says file format is not supported.
could any one please tell me how can i open .mts file in premiere cs4.
    Thanks

What kind of audio did the camera record?  For example, the Sony NX5U can be set to record linear PCM audio, which will not import into CS4.  If the same camera is set to record AC3 audio, then the clips should import and play as expected.  This thread may help:

  • How to convert and import MTS files from my Sony NEX 10e into iMovie for editing?

    Hi, dear all,
I have hard time to bring in my footage shoot using Sony NEX 10e camcorder into iMovie 11 for editing. Is there anyway I can convert these MTS files foe editing in IMovie 11?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Kevin

Some frame rates and resolution combos will not import into iMovie directly. That's true. For instance, 1920x1080 @ 60 progressive frames per second (meaning not interlaced), that is not compatible with iMovie and you might need to convert it using a program like ClipWrap. Also if you have just the 'bare' .mts files, iMovie will not be able to import those either. iMovie expects to find all the folders and auxiliiary files recorded onto the memory card when you shoot AVCHD video. It needs all those extra pieces to navigate to the video clips and subsequently convert them from .mts to Apple Intermediate Codec. So in the case where you have a 'bare' .mts file use Voltaic HD to do the conversion.

How can I import the XDCAM(.mov) recorded from Mac in Premiere Pro for Windows?
Do I have to install any codec or program?

    Any suggestions would be appreaciated.
They have a website with support and a forum.  https://www.videocopilot.net/products/action2/
    Looks like cool stuff.
They list compatability with Premier Elements.  Perhaps if you post a request there, you will find someone that has been down the road before you with the combination of the two products.   They may also need to know if an adjustment is necessary for PrE11.
    Good luck!
