I can't install any updates on my macbook!

Hi !!! i am still running Lion 10.7 and never been updated but when i try to update to 10.7.4 the update fails can anyone help me ?

Safest bet would be replacing speed for certainty. Download the 10.7.4 combo installer directly from Apple and apply it manually: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1524  Note that it will take A WHILE to download.
I recommend you Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions on the startup drive first by restarting in Recovery Mode. Hold down the Command R keys prior to the startup chime.

  • I can't install any updates for Leopard.

    Hi,
I've just upgraded my G4 1.25Ghz, (2GB RAM) to Leopard 10.5 from the DVD from 10.4.1. It installed ok although it hung at the end of installation on the System Preferences. I had to shut it down and start it up again. It started no problem so I assumed all was ok. I then tried to update. I used Software Updater and it recommended that I download and install 10.5.8. I tried this but it kept hanging when I hit the install button on the updater. In force quit it kept saying the updater was not responding. Upon reading quite a few articles on the subject, i tried to download it directly, I did but it still wouldn't work. I read that maybe I needed earlier updates first do I tried 10.5.6 combo with no luck and then I tried 10.5.1 but it still doesn't work either. I lets me start to install the update but it hangs every time I hit install and says the program is not responding.
Have I not upgraded to Loepard sucessfully, ie do need to uninstall it and re-install it (how) or is something in the install manager that isn't working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I booted from the dvd and it went straight ahead and installed the whole thing again, and as far as i see it overwrote the previous version as I still have the same amount of memory available. The only thing was that it hung on the finder after the restart. I force quit and it worked fine. I went to upgrade and as I had downloaded early versions of 10.5 upgrades I started with 10.5.1 - it loaded fine. I shut down the mac and after a while I started it again and tried to upgrade to 10.5.6 combo that I had previously downloaded. The installer worked fine until it asked me for the administrators user name and password. I typed them in but it keeps saying that they are invalid. They are the correct ones. Also previously when it asked, it only asked for the administrator password and it automatically filled in my account name. I have been looking at other posts with similar problems but nothing solved. I tried software update and it immediately asked for the user name and password as usual and I cannot get any further with it. Should I continue this in a new post or can someone help.
    Thanks.

  • OSX 10.8.5 Can't install any updates for any of my 3rd party software

    Hi Guys
Don't know if any of you out there can help me but for some reason I am unable to install any unpdates for ANY of my third party software on my System Drive or any other drive for that matter.  I continually get the little yellow triangle on the drive icon at the "destination select" stage of any update installation.  Ive never had this problem before and it's only been happending over the last week and i haven't changed any OSX settings. Also im logged in as the Administrator and have the permissions set to read & write to all my drives.
    Has anyone experienced this too?????

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.

I also have a copy of iLife 09 that has been installed on my iMac. I would like it to go on the MacBook as well so everything is compatible. It says I need to update the software for OS X but I haven't been able to do that for awhile. This is the message it gives me.

I have tried making sure I have 15% available memory and I tried making a new user account.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    First, to the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If this doesn't help then download the updater at support.apple.com/downloads/ and try again.

    Hi brainstewn,
The config.msi folder is a temporary repository for storing scripts that are needed to rollback an installation if it fails. After the application is installed correctly, the contents of this folder are deleted. Sometimes this content cannot be removed, causing problems with Acrobat's ability to repair or update itself.
To resolve this issue: In the error message window, click Ignore. (You might need to click Ignore 4 times.)
This can resolve the problem and allow repairs and updates to work correctly. If you click Abort, Error 1603 appears.
Rename the Config.msi folder as Config.msi_OLD and try installing and check.

  • I am unable to install any updates to my MacBook?

Every time I try to update the software (when the Software Update" panel opens up), I can download the software but after downloading it says "Unable to install software" "An unexpected error occcured".....
I have plenty of HD space (100G available out of 320G), and I've tried repairing permissions, restarting etc but I still get the same error message.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hi...
"Unable to install software" "An unexpected error occcured".....
If you have anti virus software instaled, disable that.
If that's not the issue, run Disk Utility to verify the startup disk. Not the same as repairing permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Click Verify Disk
If the disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Can't install mountain lion on my macbook pro

    Hey everyone,
I have a serious issue since my last senior project my MacBook Pro 15" has been too hard to deal with it hangs a lot and I can't install any updates with out formatting my Mac and have a rough time with it lately I wanted to update my macbook to the latest version which is 10.8.5 and whenever I download that update from the App Store my Mac won't install it then it starts to hang and even hang on the start ups so I formatted it all over again and now when it reaches to the nearly end of the installation like 6 mins left it stuck forever and it writes 2hrs left... I would really be happy if someone can find an end of this drama cause am sick of it

Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I get error 0x80073cf9 now and I need help to FIX Windows Store can't update any Apps & can't install any Apps now?

Hi I hope some one can tell me step by step how to fix windows 8.1, I can't update any of my Apps and can't install any new apps now and I get error code 0x80073cf9?  But my problem is different than most of the other FIXES I read about, because nothing
fixes my problem to be able to install new Apps and get app updates and stop getting that error code?
I keep getting same error code 0x80073cf9 after I try any of the FIXES I have read about and tried all  the fixes on  my Lenovo Z580 laptop, that came with windows 8 and updated to 8.1.  And ever since I bought this laptop I could
always install and update all my apps for the last year when I had Win 8 and Win 8.1 now.   This has been going on since April and May and its driving me crazy!    And from the May updates I did get all the updates and
I also installed the KB update  that said I need this KB to get all updates in the future.
But all the other people when they get this error code they could not even open and use any of their Apps already installed.  And they also get the error code when they try to update or get a new apps.
But I can click on any APP installed already and use all my Apps with no problems.     I have read so many how to fix this error code but nothing works! :-(      I have tried a lot of
the fixes on Microsoft forums that says do this and the fix will get rid of the error code but I keep getting the same error code after I try that  fixes.    And I have read a lot of other windows 8 an windows 8.1  web sites when
I search for how to fix this error code?   And tried all of the fixes that were different from the Microsoft forum fixes. But after I try those fixes I still can't install any apps or can't get my app updates?
Please to any person's who can help me by giving me  more that 1 fix, because I have tried so many fixes, If you know more that 1 fix tell me how to do your fix step by step so I can understand what you say to do to fix my windows store?
Thanks for any and all help?  And if I don't get any help in this section of the forum I will try to put this in a different area, if I don't get any help at this section of the forum I will try to ask this in another part of he forum ok?
I really need HELP with this so I can get my laptop working again to install new apps and get the updates to my apps?

Fixed the problem by going to settings/store and logging out with apple ID.  Then logged back in with password and updates, apps, and iTunes store seem to work ok now.

I can not install new update in Photoshop CC, does any one know, how I can install the new update?
Photoshop CC show me, if I look on "Help" -> Update, there is no update. But my actual license is very old....
I tried it, to do it manual. But there is also some problem.

totally agree.  at this point i could care less if "apple" supports it.  i'm not renting my ipod touch, it's mine.  i paid for it.  and i'm not asking to do anything illegal with it, all i want is to get rid of this POS ios6 and get back to being able to use my ipod touch the way it was before...working.

  • I brought  I pad air 3 months ago, but recently I can't install any application and can't make an update. Even I can't install the free application. I can see ... There is a previous purchase problem please Singh up your bank information again. Plz help

Hi , I brought an I pad air 3 months ago. But recently I can't install any application and can't update any application. Even I can't install any free application. I can see one dialogue box about in red colors " there is a previous purchase problem please type your bank information correctly" . So I don't know what to do please help me. Thanks

The message implies that a previous purchase may not have been paid-for due to problems collecting the money from your account. Have you tried logging into your account and updating/changing your payment details (tap on your in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your iPad and tap 'view Apple id' on the popup and sign into it) ? Until there is an accepted payment method on your account (credit card, redeemed iTunes gift cards) and what you owe has been paid then you won't be able to download anything (including app updates).
