I can't install ASU 2.1.3, preventing iTunes 10.5/iOS 5

That's pretty much the case. I haven't been able to upgrade, looks like this update would be the culprit. It starts to download fine but then rolls back and says "encountered errors while updating, your system was not modified, click Finish." I have tried go Repair the apple software update installer and another error message pops up when trying to repair - nothing. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

If you're using a fourth generation or earlier iPod touch, click here and download the software.
If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and an Intel Mac, buy Mac OS X 10.6 from the online Apple Store and run Software Update.
If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and a PowerPC Mac, buy a newer computer.

After restoring my new iPhone5 I can't install my apps onto it from iTunes.

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem
Also, for not enough space, remove from your iTunes library media that is on the iPod that yo do not need so it can't be restored to the iPod

  • Can I install and run TWO versions of iTunes in Win7?

Please, definitive answers only (as far as possible), and read the question properly before replying - it save creating a useless and confusing thread!!!
My problem: New iTunes is awful, I like using 'CoverFlow) for navigation. Omitting it from the newer version is a mistake.
How to resolve?: Can I, in a newly created (seperate Win7 folder from 'Program Files'), install an ADDITIONAL (and older) version, so that I don't have to uninstall the existing newer one?
My music resource is on an external hard-drive, so, theoretically, is available to more than one installation of iTunes variants?
I am NOT going to uninstall the new one I already have, as this is a 'normal' install which I shall upgrade accordingly.
Can I install another, to work temporarily until iTunes put back into their relseases 'CoverFlow', by simply installing it in a different location/folder, and then pointing both to the music resource.
Anyone tried this already, maybe even for the same reason as me, and got a definitive outcome if it works or not, without causing any conflicts?

Thanks. Yes, I am familiar with dual-booting systems. I often do this at work. But, again, not really answering my question:
Can I install 2 (different) versions of iTunes, on Win7 (just the one OS, or I would have said otherwise), if I install them into different folders.
I ask as I've never tried it, and don't particularly know all about iTunes.
To be honest, I'll just give up with this as a forum, as this is the 2nd time I've made a plain question as straight foward as a possibly can, to get an answer to a different one.
I give up, if people just can't read properly, then answer the question , preferring instead to give me an opinion.
With deep appreciation of you using that forum, I will bow down deeply concerned with my incompliance with your preferences. I am very sorry that instead of answering said question I provided you with solution. I solemnly swear that I will never do it again. I thank you for giving me a credit nevertheless for helpful answer.

    Hi all,
I've found the solution in another thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11296350#11296350
It's oviously a problem of iTunes 9.1, which does not seem to fin the syncserver. exe or some of its dependent files.
User icefoxxxx showed me how to solve the problem. Anyway, Apple has to fix this, many people will have the problem:

you won't believe how I fixed it... my syncserver.exe can't run because some dll is missing, but I notice the dll is in another folder "Apple Application Support". So I copied all files in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    over to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    and it solves everything!
Obviously there is something wrong in registering the former folder by the new itunes installation program. Hope next version fixes it.

  • HT1926 new version of itune can not install due to old version of itune can not be removed

can not install itune due to old  version of itune can not be removed

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I can't install the drivers for my printer Photsmart C7280 on my Mac Air running Mac OS X 10.7, Lion. The HP center sends me to Apple Updates which says no drivers available, see HP which repeats the circle.
Lion should include the driver you need but since its not working lets try this:
Let's uninstall with the 'scrubber option' like this:
    1. Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller and click Continue
    2. Highlight your device on the left pane
    3. Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
    4. There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
    5. Click Continue and let it finish
Now, run a Software Update. This can be done by clicking the Apple in the top left of the screen then clicking Software Updates.
Next, let's reset the printing system:
Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Default tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Finally, download and install the software from here.
Let me know how this works for you!

When I attempt to install the Airport software, I receive an error message that says the installation will not continue because a later version of iTunes is already installed.

    Can anyone help me?

I am hoping that by posting here this topic will become current again. My situation is exactly as described below; new computer, attempted to install airport express from install disc; get fatal error b/c I'm running later (7.2) version of itunes. Tried installing from English folder, which appeared to work, but no Airport Express Assistant shows up for configuration purposes. Any suggestions?

  • Can't install the 64-bit version of iTunes 10.7

I am running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium on my computer.
I downloaded the latest installer for iTunes (version 10.7) and I assume it is the 64-bit version because the setup file is named "iTunes64Setup". Everything installs fine. However, when I run iTunes and view it in my task manager, the process is listed as "iTunes.exe * 32" indicating that the 32-bit version of the program is running. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, this time noticing that the default install directory is in the Program Files (x86) folder. Thinking this may have been the source of the issue, I tried changing the directory to the 64-bit Program Files folder. However, upon completing the installation, iTunes still runs at 32-bit.
Is there any way to fix this?

Everything installs fine. However, when I run iTunes and view it in my task manager, the process is listed as "iTunes.exe * 32"
    That's normal. iTunes is a mixture of 32-bit and 64-bit componentry on 64-bit systems. itunes.exe is 32-bit.

  • Why/how  can't/can i install a dvd (batman begins) to itunes?

    View the above question haha

"but i purchased the dvd. so isnt it my property? "
Absolutely not.  You ONLY buy a certain set of rights to use the content for your own personal use.  You do not buy the right to copy it.
CDs are not encrypted, so you can copy those.  Dvds are encrypted so you do cannot.

  • "Sounds like a bad install. Backup then restore via iTunes. Restoring iOS Software"

Cant back up because the phone turns off so quickly.  Is there any way to reverse the install quickly?

Assuming you have a default itunes installation, that list should keep you covered.
It's got a lot of folder paths for XP, though.Your profile says Win 7 which  uses this folder, for instance in step 11.
    \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    XP uses the \Documents and Settings\; W7 doesn't.
Here's an apple article on iphone backups:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
The main file to backup for ratings, play lists, etc is the ITL file.
Don't forget to deauthorize your PC before you wipe it.

  • HT1338 I had downloaded d iOS 6.1.3 software bt after downloading I can't install into my iPhone

I had downloaded d iOS 6.1.3 bt after downloading I can't install into my iPhone

This is the procedure for updating iOS, which can be done on the device, or through iTunes.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623
There should not be a step where you download the update separately.
If you are referring the downloading as an automatic part of the overall process, can you explain the failure in more detail?
