all my partition are NTFS formate, can NTFS be identify by linux??
    thank you for the help!!

Can you install Panther on your G4? Yes, you can. However, you should be aware of a few things before you do.
If you have the G4 Cube, G4 with Mirrored Drive Doors, or G4 with AGP Graphics, you'll need to update the firmware before installing OS X.
Mac OS 9 and X can coexist on the same volume. However, be advised that duplicate applications might cause problems with both OSes as libraries and preferences may cross over (e.g. MS Office). You might consider a clean install to avoid the problem altogether.
As to IE, the last version released for the MacOS was version 5.2.3 for OS X. This may or may not address any issue you have encountered with browsing. Most web sites will look for IE 6.0 for Windows and then report (erroneously) that you do not have the latest version. To get around this, use Safari (built into OSX) or any Mozilla-based browser (Firefox, Netscape, or Mozilla).
    Good luck,
    Nate

  • Installing Fedora Core 2 on ms-6741 K8TM

I had a interesting installation of Fedora Core 2 on my new system.  I installed Fedora Core 1 (AMD64) from CDs into a partition without any significant issues.  It function properly for a early release, and I was just in the early learning Linux stages.
I then decided to install the "latest and greatest" when FC2 was announced.  I downloaded the iso images and burned the CDs.  I then verified the CDs on the new system with the FC1 boot CD.  They all passed verification.
When I attempted to boot the first CD it booted to the boot prompt.  I tried both menu & text, both failed the same way.  The messages appear for loading "usb-storage", the a flash of a message for loading IEEE 1394, then the message "loading usb-storage".  At this point the system is hung.
I was able to complete the install by going into BIOS and disabling completely the USB.  After installation was completed an stable I then re-booted - enabling BIOS USB support.  The system then finds the new hardware and loaded one USB 2.0 and 4 USB 1.1 devices.

    RIPRJAK,
    you seem to be knowledgable on all this, you think the Gentoo distro is the best to fool around with;
so far I've tried all Fedora distros', RH 3.0 enterprise,, Suse Pro 9.0 and 9.1 , Madrake 10.0 and FreeBSD. None of them really impressed me with stability, hardware detection and interoperability in a windows network. Especially working together with the cifs file system of W2K3 gave me some headaches
I only want to use it as a workstation, not necessarily 64-bit, in a predominant Win environment, and it has to interact with a W2K3 fileserver
    your 2 cents appreciated

  • Can not instal Win7 WLAN Driver for Satellite C660-168

I can't install WLAN driver on my Satellite C660-168 after Windows 7 installing.
    What's the problem?

    Hi Admiral,
And why you cant install it? Do you get an error message or what happens exactly?
As PauPau wrote you have Broadcom WLAN card so you have to download Broadcom WLAN driver that can be downloaded on Toshiba WLAN portal.
Before installing the driver make sure you are logged in as Administrator or with Administrator rights. ;)

  • Can I install Windows XP on a Satellite A300D-14P

Can I install Windows XP on a Satellite A300D-14P?
...thx for any info and/or help...

    Hello
    Just to clarify something:
    - if you want to install WXP but not changing BIOS settings (leave it to AHCI mode) at the beginning of installations procedure you must load SATA driver pressing F6. Thats only way to install WXP successfully
    - you can install WXP without SATA driver but you must change the settings to Compatibility. Everything will work well but if you change the settings to ACHI back you will get BSOD every time when you try to start WXP
If you want to install SATA driver please install WXP using SATA driver before the WXP installation starts.

  • Can't install 10g on Linux

    Hi,
We currently have setup 10g for testing on Windows quite happily, we have a customer who is going to deploy our product on Linux so I am in the process of setting up Linux test machine with a test Oracle database.
Having not read any docs, I first tried this on Fedora Core 2, I took note of the error and have since installed a trial of SuSE Server 9.
I still get the following error:
Checking operating system version: must be redhat-2.1, untidelinux-1.0 or redhat-3
    Failed <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
I have SLES 9 which the docs say is fine, any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Phil Maskell

    Hi,
This is the version I'm using, does this error also come from components of Linux not being correct or just the version of Linux?
I am new to Linux and setting this up for testing is quite daunting (might use mysql that is bundled).

  • Can't install Oracle_cal on linux EL5

Hey everyone, I am having some trouble installing oracle cal on linux EL5. I keep getting the following error when trying to invoke the installer. Does anyone know a solution?:

It's probably not supported on RHEL5/Centos5/etc., but...
You can get the installer to function using the following steps:
    - extract the cal_linux_*.tar.gz, and cd into the OracleCalendar_inst directory
In there is the actual installer, cal_linux.
    - the cal_linux is shell script wrapped around some binary blobs. The installer's
problem is that Oracle is setting the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 environment
variable, which is a mistake on RHEL5. You need to make it not set that variable,
but you need to do so in a way that the size of the shell script does not change at all,
and none of the binary blobs are impacted.
    - the approach I took was
    mv cal_linux cal_linux.BAK
    sed -e 's/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL= /g' < cal_linux.BAK > cal_linux
    chmod a+rx cal_linux
    cal_linux -i gui
Note: you must have exactly 5 spaces in the substitution part of the sed command, because you're replacing 5 characters (2.2.5), and the size of the shell script must not change.
If you do that, the installer should run (one warning from awk still) and you should be able to install the product.

  • Application Server & creator  can work in   fedora core 5 ?

    please i need help

Just so you know, I had similar problems running on Fedora Core 4 as well as Fedora Core 5. I re-installed numerous times, did clean installs of the whole system a few times, and finally came down with what the problem was and the set of items to handle this. I posted this a few months ago on this forum -- hope it helps.
I have 5 workstations and several development & production servers all running FC4 and FC5 and they're all humming along like a charm using SJSAS 8.1 enterprise on the servers and 8.2PE on the workstations.

Let me know if that helps.

  • Which version of Ocale 9i to download for Fedora Core Linux ?

    Hi.
I just bought an external drive to install Red Hat Linux Fedora (which I got from Sams Teach Yourself ...).
Im looking here http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/index.html to decide which version of Oracle 9i I should use.
My new external drive is connected to my laptop, which is an Inspiron 6000.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks again.
    DA

So if I installed 10g then, which one would I choose
    for Fedora?
    Linux x86
    Linux x86 -64 ??
Thanks.Really ... rocket science ain't all that hard. Let's take a look at your rocket science:
if your hardware is 32 bit, any 64-bit stuff will not work.
if your hardware is 64 bit, and you chose a 32 bit operating system, any 64 bit applications will not work (and in this case the oracle database is an application)
if you hardware and your operating system are 64 bit, any 32 bit application or 64 bit application will work as long as you have the correct libraries (DLLs) installed.
then you decide whether the benefit of 64 bit is greater than the overhead of 64 bit
    So ...........
if you have an Inspiron 6000 with the Pentium M processor, you may not have 64 bit capability.
if you have a 32-bit Fedora (which you don't bother stating, do you?) you may not have 64 bit capability
if you do not have 64 bit capability, don;t bother with the 64 bit version of Oracle.

  • How can I install ALE in linux mint

I want to install ALE in Linux Mint Cinnamon. Is this possible. If not why not.
    BobM

Adobe does not support Digital Editions on Linux any more, see this page for the list of platforms that they do support : Tech specs | Adobe Digital Editions Home
Over at WineHQ they seem to have versions of Adobe Digital Editions that you might be able to get to run on Linux Mint (I have not tried this myself though) : WineHQ - Adobe Digital Editions

  • Can I install 64-bit OS on Satellite A200?

Can I install a 64-bit OS on Satellite A200 equipped with a intel t2350 proccessor?

Of course you can install the 64bit OS on the Toshiba notebooks but the question is if you will get the compatible 64bit drivers well, I think if you will install the 64bit OS you will have to run the notebook without the Toshiba tools and drivers because the 64bit drivers are not available on any of Toshiba pages
In such case you will have to search on chip manufacture sites for compatible drivers!

  • Can I install Windows 7 on a Satellite C855-1WR?

I've made a BIG mistake! After having Satellite's for years, I recently bought a C885-1WR but didn't notice it came with Windows 8.....and I HATE it :(
Can I install Windows 7 on this machine?
If so, how do I do this, please?
I have very little technical knowledge, so easy answers please.
I would be eternally grateful for any help.
    Thank you so much
    Polly

Of course you can do that.
You can install Win 7 if you want.
Firstly you have to go to BIOS (press F2 while booting)
In BIOS disable secure boot and switch from UEFI mode to CSM mode.
Save the changes and now you could boot from the Win 7 disk and could start the installation.
But just one important note: read you user manual and create the recovery disk BEFORE installing anything on the notebook. The recovery disk help you to go back to Win 8 in cases you would like to use it again!

  • Can I install Intel graphic driver on Satellite M40X-119?

Dear All, I have Satellite M40X-119 with Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family for the graphics card. I found an update on Intel web site for the driver, but it was written that "This is not to be used if the system has a third party graphics card", what does that means?
Can I install the driver for my Toshiba Laptop or not.
    Thanx in Advance

    Hi Mahmood
In my knowledge Toshiba recommend using only the Toshiba graphic drivers and if you want to use drivers from another manufacture so you can do it at your own risk.
Some people have suggested that the Toshiba graphic drivers are a little bit modified because of the card overheating. You know, if the notebook cooling modules get a performance limit the graphic card driver decreases the card performance to reduce the temperature.
I think the Intel original driver does not support such feature and therefore its advisable to use the Toshiba drivers.

  • Can't install W10 on MX200 - Toshiba Satellite Pro R50-B-165

I've recently purchased this disk but I can't see it in the W10 installer. The BIOS sees the disk. I can install W7 correctly, but I can't install neither W8/W8.1/W10. Both the laptop BIOS and the disk firmware are up to date. I've tried providing the IRST drivers at installation time with no luck at all.  Any idea?

This is caused by windows 10 not including a controller driver for the storage controller your SSD is attached too. Something i noticed is that the windows 10 upgrade will pass preinstall checks if a device has a working driver on it, even if windows 10 has no qualifiable driver to support the device - Quite annoying considering the fact that it actually removes functioning drivers for a storage driver with a boot device in the event 10 has no compatible drivers for that device =_=  The F6 ahci driver needs to be signed and include a signed cat file which has been created with windows 10 support or the driver will fail to load.
