I can't install iTunes 10.7 without updating MAC OS, not sure which version to install
I just bought the iPhone 5, trying to synch with iTunes to get settings, contacts, photos etc. installed. Got a message that iTunes version 10.7 or later is required. Went to www.itunes.com and downloaded the update, got a message that it requires MAC OSX version 10.6.8 or later. My MAC (Intel based) is currently running 10.5.8. When I select Software Update, it tells me that all software is up to date. I'm not sure what to do next. After some searching, I found:

Is this ok to install on my machine?

There is no need for anyone to use 32-bit version anymore.
Retail comes with both. Or you can save on just buying 64-bit System Builder disc.

I downloaded itunes 10.7 but cant install it unless i update my software to Mac OS X 10.6.8. I just got the iphone 5 and need to activate but am not able to due to that error message.
When i check software updates thats not available to not sure what to do.I am am having the same problem. My macbook is from 2009 and recently stopped updating to the latest software. Apparently my license agreement or whatever has run out and in order to get the latest software I have to pay for it. However my mac has been running so slow lately I fear paying to update for fear that my mac will just die. So sad, my mac has always been so good until recently. My itunes kept saying it was up to date and it wouldn't update my iphone, so I went to the website and downloaded 10.7 only to find out that I can't install it. So sad, my computer is officially so outdated that I can't do anything now without paying! ****....whats a girl to do. I feel you on this. Im running on Mac 10.5.8 too, and yep...were just that outdated.

i tried to restore it to it's original settings but when i tried to reinstall it, it would say that i hadn't bought it. so then i bought the lion os and the code took forever to come but now i cannot find anywhere that i can input it. i cannot access the mac store because the mac doesn't have lion and i can't input the code using my windows computer. he didn't have any installation discs and i'm not wasting another cent on this computer to buy them. is there something i can use to input the code?
The Lion redemption code can only be used in the App Store application found in 10.6.6, and higher Macs.
You can't download it from a PC or a phone. -

Hi! I have a new MacBook Pro, but I haven't been able to put iTunes on it even though I have used it for years on my iPhone, iPad, and two Windows desktops and two Windows laptops. I keep getting the message that "I am exceeding my iTunes account limit of 5 computers (not counting my iPhone and iPad, which are explicitly excluded from the count according to the message)". As anyone can see, I only have 4 computers, so I should not have any problems with installing iTunes, but this same message says that I need to deauthorize at least one computer or maybe I have extra authorizations on a computer.
I can't even find a list or map of the computers on my iTunes account! Please, somebody help ASAP!!!!! Thanks!!!!!

Have you tried a couple of USB cables? And are you using the original cable that came with your phone?

I installed itunes 10.5 and now it will not recognize my phone-
I installed itunes 10.5 last week and now when I plug in my iPhone it will not recognize it. I've gone through all the recommended troubleshooting through Apple's site but it seems to make my computer worse. I re-installed itunes 3 times and it still will not find my phone when I plug it in. When I go to my device manager my "Apply Mobile Device USB Driver" has the little Yellow Triangle with the exclamation point it in- I checked for and updated driver but it says I have the most current one. I am running Windows Vista and itunes was working fine before I took the upgrade. Any help is appreciated!

It is probably buried where nothing can touch or change it other than what I resorted to and would have saved time, clean install after I made sure to have two backup sets: Windows Easy Transfer plus Paragon clone OS and partitions to drive. Had to spend a full day reinstalling, updates, etc. Careful not to bring back any prefs or data that might be corrupt or wrong.
10.5 and iOS 5 on new iPod 4G works much better though and as they should and no issues like I had with AMS or other services or needing to restart first before launching iTunes. -

My iPhone used to work in iTunes but quit working. I checked my USB portal and it works with other devices. I also uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. I added updates to my phone and re-booted it. I am not sure what else to do. My iPhone also locked in vertical position and no longer goes to horizontal.
