I can't install Mavericks in my MacBook Air 2011

I run the instalation of Mavericks in my mackbook air, but can´t run after 6 min for finish.

I just want to confirm that this is the instalation phase that is not working, if it is just the download your machine will still be 10.8.5 and you should be able to run with that after a restart.
If it is the installation phase that as failed I can only suggest that you recover from your latest backup. That would put you back to ML and a working system. Use CMD r to boot into recovery mode and you will have the option to recovery from Time Machine.

  • How can i install iwork dvd in Macbook Air?

Somebody know how can i install iwork dvd in Macbook Air? I try to use the CD compartment from my Macbook pro, but it don't work... tks

First, share your MB pro DVD drive on the network in System Preferences > Sharing.
Insert the iWork DVD into the MBpro's drive.
Then go to your MBair and click "Remote Disc" in the Finders Sidebar.
You'll see your MBpro listed in the finder window.  Click the arrow next to The MBpro name and you'll see the shared DVD.  Double click that and the installation process should begin.

i have a problem with notification of service battery since i installed mavericks. My macbook air is 2012 version. Any solution?

You're best bet in this case is to re-install the OS. While doing a re-install will not normally harm your user data having a good working backup in cases like this is essential.

  • I've installed Mavericks on my Macbook Air and it keeps asking me to log in - not a mail or keychain problem - actual OS log in.

I've installed Mavericks on my Macbook Air. Every twenty minutes or so I get the log in screen and have to type in my computer password again.
I don't think this is a keychain or mail problem - just the computer login.

    Try this.

  • [Ubuntu] Can't install Ubuntu on my MacBook Air.

I want to install Ubuntu on my MacBook Air. Problem : each time the DVD-RW burning ends, the disc becomes unreadable. How can I install Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits on a MacBook Air late 2011 still with OS X Lion ?
    Hi there.
I have a MacBook Air late 2011 still working with OS X Lion (actually OS X 10.7.4).
I just wanted to install Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits on my MacBook Air but I can't and I don't know why. The problem I encounter is the following : each time the DVD-RW burning ends, the disc becomes unreadable by the system and I can't do anything but erase it and try to burn it again… This is the fourth time I did it and it still doesn't works. Impossible to burn the DVD-RW without making it unreadable by the system. And I checked Bootcamp Assistant options but there's nothing about Linux…
I use an original Apple's superdrive to burn the disc.
A friend just told me to use Bootcamp Assistant, install Windows 7 on a new partition, then replace Windows 7 with Ubuntu… But I don't really know what to do. This is the first time that I try to install another system…
Could anyone help me ? Thanks.

I finally did it. In fact, if the DVD wasn't readable by OS X after the burning, he was readable by rEFIt on the superdrive. Me (OS X Lion 4 on a MacBook Air late 2011) and a friend (OS X Mountain Lion 1 on a MacBook Pro of 2008) did it this way :
    1. Download the Ubuntu iso named "ubuntu-12.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso".
    2. Burn it on a blank DVD with the disk utility.
    3. Make a partition for Ubuntu with the disk utility.
    4. Install rEFIt.
    5. Restart the Mac.
    6. Select the icon of Tux behind a little disc.
    7. Try Ubuntu from the disc.
    8. While trying Ubuntu on the disc, use the installer to install Ubuntu. NOTE: NE CAREFUL WHILE INSTALLING UBUNTU, IF YOU CHOOSE THE WRONG OPTION AT A MOMENT OF THE INSTALLATION YOU CAN ERASE OS X.
    9. After the installation, Ubuntu should tell you that you might restart the computer. Restart the Mac, and you'll arrive on the rEFIt menu.
    10. You can now use Ubuntu on your Mac, enjoy.
We both did it and it worked well, I even reinstalled Ubuntu and it worked well again. Just be careful while installing Ubunut, I'll maybe repeat myself but choosing the wrong option could suppress OS X. Except if you just want a MacBook Air with Ubuntu for the weight… Have a nice day.

  • Can you install iLife on a MacBook Air? No CD player.

I needed to know if you can download iLife 11" without a dvd/cd drive??!!??!!

One easy way to install applications onto a Macbook Air from CD/DVDs that you already own, if you own another Mac, is to put the optical disk into the disk drive of the other Mac and use "Disk Utility" (in the Applcations/Utilities folder) to create a Disk Image (.dmg) file of the CD/DVD. Put the disk image onto a USB flash drive. Plug the flash drive into the USB port of the Macbook Air and open the .dmg file, or transfer it to the Air first then open it (I prefer that method). After you open the .dmg file you will see a new "disk" icon on your desktop. You may have to double click on it to open it, or it may have opened automatically when you opened the .dmg file. Now it should look like you have an install CD/DVD mounted and you are ready to install software on your Macbook Air. Install the software as you would normally and viola you are done.
If you transferred the .dmg file to your Macbook Air be sure to delete it, Macbook Airs don't have a lot of disk space.

  • Can't install mavericks on my MacBook Pro mid 2010. Can't detect the HDD.

Hi all, find it very frustrating trying to install the new OS after the hard drive is not detected. I'm trying a clean install of the Mavericks using an 8Gb usb flash drive.
However, when trying to reformat the drive using disk utility and trying to repair to drive to see it there is a problem I was able to do both without any difficulty.
Here's the steps I've undertook so far.
1.) Boot the MBP using the Mavericks installer downloaded in Apps store. I have created beforehand the USB installer using Lion DiskMaker app. I have tried the installer working on my wife MacBook Pro 2011.
2.) Pressing alt key during boot up will only show my USB stick without the formatted HDD. Selecting the USB stick will show a circle with a line and shuts down the MBP.
Any valuable help is much appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
At first, it looks like your Mac is not compatible with OS X Mavericks, so maybe you were using a different OS X version like Lion.
To check whether your Mac is compatible or not, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and check "Model Identifier". It should be "MacBook5,1" or higher (if you have got a MacBook) or "MacBookPro3,1" or higher (if you have got a MacBook Pro)

  • I can't install Mavericks on a Macbook pro with Bootcamp

    Hi all,
I tried to upgrade my MacBook pro which was running Lion and Windows 7 installed with Bootcamp, with Mavericks. I ran the installation program from within OS X Lion and after a while, it said that Mavericks cannot be installed because of a bootcamp partition on the disk. Did someone had similar troubles to install Mavericks with a bootcamp partition ?
    Thanks,
    Alan.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • After I tried to install Mavericks on my Macbook Air, June 2012 the the drive began to fail, with the appearance at more and more frequent intervals of the spinning beach ball, I had to restart even  after I wiped the drive and reinstalled Mountain Lion

After I installed Mavericks I could no longer shut my Macbook Air (mid July 2012) down, except by force quit,I was using an Apple Tv screen and Apple wireless keyboard. After that the spinning beachball kept appearing at more and more frequent intervals, even after I had wiped the drive and re-installed Mountain Lion from the Apple site. It is now almost non functional. and just three months out of warranty

Backup your data as soon as you can.
MacBook Air computers sold between June 2012 through June 2013 are known to have a high SSD failure rate and Apple is replacing them for free.
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbookair-flashdrive/
You should maintain current backups.  Given the known failure rate of your SSD that is especially important.

  • Can't install windows xp on macbook air

    Hi,
I have posted already on the forum about 1 month ago or more and no one answered me, so trying again.
How can I install windows xp on my macbook air?
I have an original xp sp2 disk and a generic external dvd burner with usb.
I have tried many times with bootcamp, but when I get the information (with disk utility info) of my xp 2 disk it says its not bootable.
Do you think its my disk or my external dvd burner that can't boot?
Should I get a super drive for it to work? Is there an other way for my mac to boot the disk at startup?
Anyone please have any answer on how they installed windows xp.

    Yes.
I have seen this page many many times already.
I know it is not supported by apple. But it must be possible. I read about people with MBA's getting xp on them.
My windows xp sp2 cd should at least be bootable? Its an original with the flashy 3D genuine design on it.
I have installed Win 7 previously, but with a usb stick. I can't have a 20gb OS on my 64gb MBA drive.
I hope you can understand better my problem.
    Thank you.

  • Can't install Flash on new Macbook Air

I've just got a new Macbook Air - new to this!
I have tried to install Adobe Flash Player with no success, can someone help?
Everytime the download gets to around 50%, it stops and tells me Safari needs closing - however it isn't open.
I've already tried a 'clean install' and rebooting from searching these kind of forums.
Help! (laymans terms please - I'm not that 'techie'!!)

    1.  Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
       Download it first.
       The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

Are you sure about that?  I have a few legacy programs myself that won't run with Win7 64bit mode, but they run fine in 32bit mode.  Guess what edition of Win7 I'm running?  And it runs sweet.
