I found this solution on the Apple Support Forums. Adding the SYSTEM account is what worked for me:

  • Can't install Muse CC - error says beta version is already installed?

I can't find the app anywhere on my computer but the error I'm getting during install in that a "beta version of this product exists on the computer. Please quit and uninstall that version before continuing"
    Anyone else getting this error?

Refer to the following article on uninstalling Muse - http://helpx.adobe.com/muse/kb/uninstall-muse.html.
If it isn't installed and if that is a Mac machine, use the Spotlight to search for anything Muse related and remove. Look into the Trash folder too to find any instances of the app.
Most likely you're trying to install Muse using the CC Application Manager and as Muse is an Air application, there are certain limitations in how we interact with the Application Manager that can cause these types of conflicted states. Refer to the following thread for more about this - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1253307.
Also include external drives in your search for an old version of Muse. You can attempt to install the app using the installer found here as well (another thread for reference <http://forums.adobe.com/message/5052701#5052701>):
    Mac : http://www.adobe.com/go/muse_latest_mac
    Win : http://www.adobe.com/go/muse_latest_win
You could use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool as well that helps resolve installation problems and can clean up install records for any pre-release (beta) installations of these products (download links at the bottom) - http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

  • Can't install Muse on a new Mac

I'm a Creative Cloud subscriber.  I signed out of creative cloud on an old mac pro, signed in to a new mac pro running yosemite.  Started installation of creative cloud apps onto new mac, but the CC desktop app "sees" Muse 2014.2 and Acrobat Pro as already installed and up to date.  And this is definitely not true of a mac taken out of the box and registered for the first time.  Is anyone else having this kind of problem, with CC installers reporting phantom applications?  What can be done to remedy this?

    Hi Dave,
After manually copying Muse 2014.2 to the new mac, I can't launch Muse even though the CC app registers the presence of Muse beforehand.  The copy of Muse that I manually put there does not properly communicate with CC and so can't operate and I get "error code 1 - contact support."  hatever is erroneously triggering the CC app to detect Muse has nothing to do with actually putting Muse into the Applications folder of the new mac.  I got the same result when I manually copied Acrobat Pro 11:  failed launch.  BUT, CC then took Acrobat Pro out of the "up to date" list and made it possible to install Acrobat.  I had to first uninstall Acrobat (using its uninstaller), then re-install it from the CC app.  Acrobat is now working.  I have installed all of the other Adobe apps I use and have tested a bunch of them to make sure they open and function and can sync settings, etc.
Muse won't work and CC won't let me "uninstall" it.  The cleaner tool won't uninstall Muse either; doesn't even list it.  Creating a new admin account and logging into it to perform these uninstalls/installs did not help in any way.  I eventually uninstalled Muse using Clean My Mac application.  The CC app still detects Muse as being present.  Then I got the idea that perhaps the presence of Muse on my other computers could be a problem (although wouldn't that be true for all of the CC apps?).  Shutting down the other computers on my home network did not change anything.
At this point, I have to move on.  I can't let this consume all of my time.  Very frustrating, especially since none of it makes any sense.  I do have Muse working on my macbook pro and that's what I'll have to do for the time being.  I just got through using Muse to redesign my website on the old mac pro.  So I'm pretty much done with Muse for now.  But even for tweaking the new web pages, I can still get Muse running - just not on the new mac pro.
The reason that you see a late September date for installation of Muse in that graphic is because I had to re-install it and my other Adobe apps on the old mac pro because I was not happy with the performance of Premiere Pro on the laptop.  I was going to retire the old mac pro then, but had to postpone that.  Not this time, though.
If you have any other ideas, let me know.  I won't be in the position to spending a lot of time making this work, but I do want to see Muse work on my new mac pro someday.  One major turn-off for me is the need to uninstall everything in order to fix one thing.  That is not a good model for a product line.  Just saying.

  • Can't install, get error message that says "The website declined to show this page"

I've been using Firefox for years now, but recently I had some problems with my computer and had to re-install Windows. I am now running Windows 8.1. I can't install Firefox now. It's very strange. When I attempt to install, I get an error message that says, "The website declined to show this webpage". It says the most likely cause is that the website requires you to log in. I have never experienced this issue before and like I said, I've been using Firefox for years. My anti-virus software found that the installation is accessing a web resource called DynamicOfferScreen, so I think the installation is corrupt. Can someone send me a link to download a clean installation?

You might have loaded an unofficial bundle advertised as a Firefox download...
Please start with the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. (Use the charms bar search box if necessary to find it.) Click the "Installed on" column heading to group by date and reveal what bundled items may have snuck in. Remove everything you do not know to be legit and valuable.
Next, in Firefox, review your extension and disable/remove anything unrecognized or questionable. if in doubt, disable. You can do that on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
Finally, after clearing those out, mop up with some of the scanning/cleaning programs listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
    Back to normal?

  • Can't install itunes. error  writing to file program files (x86)\Adobe\gnsk_dsp.dll

    I can't update itunes.
    During installation it says:
Error while writing in file: Program Files (x68)\Adobe\gnsk_dsp.dll.
Check whether you have the right to open that file.
How can I remove this error?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Can't install KB2881553 Error 0x80070643

Hi! I can't install that update! Every time i try i get the 0x80070643 error. I've already tried the troubleshooter, windows fixit for windows update, also turned of my virus protection and performed a clean reboot of the system. What can
i do now? I know that is only a "Update for the English Input Personalization Dictionary" but it should also work...
I'm running the latest preview with all patches installed.

    Hi Active_Copy,
    What is your current situation?
I don't think that KB should be installed on Windows 10 Technical Preview, that KB applies to Windows 8.1. If you need the related update, we may submit this through Windows Feedback Tool as a suggestion (request).l
Which I think should be the issue that for HRESULT = 0x800f0805 - CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE.
Besides, update for Windows 10 is designed to be updated automatically. More infomration, please check:

  • Can't install ITunes-Error 2324-Admin log in

When I tried opening ITunes tonight, it asked me to download the new version. When I tried to download, it wouldn't allow me to do it. I uninstalled ITunes and when I tried to re-install, I got an error stating that it had encountered an unexpected error installing this package, error code 2324. I looked up error code 2324 on the computer and Microsoft instructed me to run the Fix It program. After running this program, I was able to run the ITunes install to a certain point, getting further than I had so far tonight. Then I got an error box that said, "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files\iTunes. The installation cannot continue. Log in as administrator or contact your system administrator."
What do I have to log into as the administrator? My computer? I am the only user/admin on my computer and the only person who even uses my computer.
I need to fix this....all of my music is on my IPod and without iTunes, I can't access it or purchase new music, which was all I was trying to do tonight.
    Thanks!

Error 1305 is usualy something to do with the CD drive or the media.

  • Can't Install iTunes : Error Message "Installer has insufficient Privileges to modify this File" Running Windows Vista

    Hello!
I am currently having issues installing iTunes on BOTH of my computers. One running Vista, the other, Windows 7.
    (Not the same issues)
I used to have iTunes on my Vista (32bit), but when asked to update the software (The update prior to the newest one), I was not able to.
I dont exactly remember the error message.
Yesterday, I tried to install it again when I realized there was a new update.
I am receiving an error message while trying to install the software that says :
"The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: c:\program files\ common files \ apple \ apple application support \ webkit. resources \ inspector \ images \ warnings errors.png
I have tried almost everything I knew to do.
Downloaded itunes setup, extracted the files and tried to install them all separately.
Then I had issues UNinstalling Apple Support and Mobile devices!
Tried something with the registry (not too sure what. I read it on this website)
Tried to Force Uninstall EVERY bit of apple on the computer then try again, and to no avail.
I am a bit discouraged, because I have been trying for so long with both computers.
I even called applecare for help with Windows 7 computer. Spoke to one representative who forwarded me to another who could not help.
(Windows 7 itunes WILL install, but when I plug up my phone says I am not running 64bit itunes, which I am, and to reinstall. Then I was missing the Mobile device and would not let me separately install.)
I am a bit frustrated, and I'd appreciate all of the help I can get.
    Thank You all in advance.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Can't install Quicktime - Error "A newer version of quicktime already..."

Hi, I have a Dell XPS running Windows Xp Media edition. Quicktime files would not play so I downloaded the newest version of Quicktime and an error comes up saying, "A newer version of quicktime is already installed. This installation of Quicktime can not proceed while the newer version is installed." I can't find a newer version on the computer and the application seems absent. Only suplimentary Quicktime files are found. Please help.

    Dell XPS   Windows XP

I'm having this exact same problem. I have a Gateway running Windows XP Media Edition.
I can't run quicktime, it says it's not there. I've tried uninstalling using add/remove and it says the uninstall.log file is missing. I tried uninstalling using the QT uninstaller option in its folder, it says the uninstall.log is not there. I tried 'repair' option on the iTunes+QT installer that I downloaded. Still the same issue.
I tried the stand alone QuickTime installer and it tells me "A newer version of quicktime already exists".
I tried deleting the residual quicktime folders from my c:\program files. I tried deleting the residual QT references from my regedit. I downloaded the MS Windows Install Clean Up and looked in there--found 2 more things that could possibly be quicktime related and removed those. I tried again -- same error message.
I'm not sure what else to do. I'd really like to get Quicktime and iTunes working by Christmas so I can sync my shiney new iPod.

  • Help - Can't install iTunes - Error during install

Am able to install QuickTime, but get to "Install Wizard" and it stops midway and gives me the error message "A later version of iTunes is already on this machine. Installation cannot continue."
I have erased my old iTunes off my machine - but am confused why this update would claim a LATER version of iTunes is on the machine and freezes the installation??!
Pls help - just got my iPod up and running again (after months of it being frozen on permanent lock and having to go back to factory settings several times - trying several fixes) - but can't do anything without iTunes and my music library to load on my iPod.
Thanks in advance - for any/all advice. I'm at my wits end.

    hi Laura!
Am able to install QuickTime, but get to "Install Wizard" and it stops midway and gives me the error message "A later version of iTunes is already on this machine. Installation cannot continue."
hmmm. are you installing a true standalone copy of the installer? the size of a standalone for 7.0.3 should be less than 20 MB. how large is your installer?
    here's a link to a true standalone:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    keep us posted.
