  • Can't install downloaded Blackberry Desktop software

I downloaded the latest version of the BB 8100 desktop software from the BB site to my computer. It unzips OK but when it starts to install it stops every time. Have exited every Windows program first.  Any ideas?

    Problem:
Similar but not the same as errors 2738 1607 encountered with installing blackberry desktop manager software, there is no error message here, simply the WinZip Self Extractor completes, then the Installshield Wizard opens and appears to be installing.  After several seconds, a BlackBerry window opens (BlackBerry Desktop Software - Installshield Wizard) with the message: "The wizard was interrupted before the BlackBerry Desktop Software could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.    Click Finish to exit the wizard.
    Solution(s)
Ok, saw this thread was un answered so I thought I would reply in case anyone out there has this issue too, it drove me mental for a week too.  (before you read on I am not responsible for any messed up computers, blackberries or anything at all! This  is a GUIDE that worked for me and not the law!) So, here we go… I tried many many things to fix this, I am on Vista home, berry 9700 bold 2, TELUS Mobility (doesn’t really matter), Blackberry handheld OS 5.0, Vista Desktop Manager 5.0.1. English without media manager/roxio w/Sp1 downloaded from blackberry. I tried just about everything you can imagine, know my way around computers reasonably well (or so my mom tells me haha) and uninstalled the previous version of desktop manager with REVO uninstaller etc...
Some of the other things I tried that did NOT work for me but MAY WORK for you are as follows, what ultimately worked for me was step C and all sub sections of, I might start there but I am writing this in order of things I tried.
Solution A) un/re registering vbscript.dll (in c:windows\system32) to no avail…click start, run cmd prompt (should open as admin),
    1. Start à Accessories à right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator. A Windows Elevation confirmation screen will pop up. Confirm the action OR alternatively just run CMD from Start àrun à cmd and it should run as admin
    2. The Command Administrator Prompt opens to something like the following- C:\Windows\system32>. If anything else change directory by typing this without quotes: “cd\windows\system32”
    1)     Now at the command prompt, which should be- C:\Windows\system32  unregister the vbscript.dll file from Windows by typing at the command prompt (without quotes) “regsvc32 /u vbscript32.dll” (This will un-register the VB Script dll with your computer. A confirmation window will appear after this)
    2)     Now we want to register it C:\Windows\system32 regsvr32 vbscript.dll (This registers VB Script with your computer -- a confirmation window will appear after this as well.)
    3)     Try rebooting and running your blackberry software install
Solution B) Everything on this site : This Blackbery Forum Post (great post, thanks! Hey, you might learn something here that will come in handy one day if it doesn’t help you now, I did)
Follow each step there, try rebooting and running your blackberry software install as indicated
Solution B.Longshot) If A and B don’t work, you can try a repair of vista using the recover cd (if you don’t have one go here: neoSmart (I downloaded and burned image with aShampoo dvd burning software, restart windows with DVD/CD in the drive, press F12 on boot (or whatever gets YOU into ‘setup’, not the BIOS, change boot first device to CD/DVD ROM. I used this and it works perfectly, just follow their directions on the site and pick the right version for your OS etc) be *VERY*CAREFUL to NOT wipe your drive and just do a REPAIR (can take an hour), again if you don’t know what you are doing, skip this one and move on.
What DID WORK for ME, is the following (SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT *** DO NOT ASSUME THAT USING AN UNINSTALLER LIKE REVO WILL DO ALL OF THIS FOR YOU - THIS WAS MY MISTAKE from the beginning, 25 hours later I realized that YOU NEED TO DO THE UNINSTALL AND SOME MANUAL STEPS EVEN IF YOU SELECT THE MOST THOROUGH***)
This one, D, worked for me specifically:
Solution D) Uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Software, preferably using REVO UNINSTALLER  go:  HERE to get Revo (CNET)
Use the Advanced uninstall option, thorough option, the last one down the list, this will notonly use blackberry’s built in uninstaller, but scan for remnants of the software on your drive and registry
When prompted select all and delete everything it finds, do not skip any steps, reboot, try re-installing the blackberry desktop software
You could try a similar type of uninstaller if you have one; however, I don’t recommend leaving it to using the control panel add/remove programs, I did not try this with that method
Solution D part 2) Once you have uninstalled and rebooted
    - Delete the Research In Motion Folders from the hard drive AND Registry
Browse to C:\program files\Research in Motion, delete this folder
    Click Start à Run.
Type Regedit, and then click OK. (Please be careful here, only do this if you have a good idea what you are doing, you can really mess things up here, go slow carefully please please please)
In Registry Editor, delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\   (This key will supposedly be missing if you are removing Desktop Manager version 4.0)
Reboot, reinstall the Blackberry Software, issue SHOULD HOPEFULLY be resolved!! So there you have it. I am 99% sure one of those things will get you back on your feet....good luck,
    Good luck
I can be reached at 6packs at live dot com if you spot an error I can fix, otherwise please post to the forums!

  • I have a macbook pro with a 2.16 GHz Intel core Duo processor. Can I install the iOS 5 software

I have a macbook pro with a 2.16 Ghz Intel core Duo processor. Can I install the iOS 5 software?

iOS 5 is for iDevices, not OS X. Your iDevice would only require 10.5.8 or later. If you have a Mac with a Core Duo processor then you cannot install Lion but you can install Snow Leopard provided you have at least 1 GB of RAM installed.

  • How do I can I install MS Office 2008 on a MacBook Air w/ a valid product key? Can I download files somewhere?

How do I can I install MS Office 2008 on a MacBook Air w/ a valid product key? Can I download files somewhere?
    Here's the scenario....
I've got a brand new gift MacBook Air 11" and I want to install Microsoft Office 2008 since I have a valid key license that's given by my nephew. Do I have any other options here?  Can I download all the necessary files from somewhere officially and just enter the Product Key to install what I need?  Are there other possible options?
Your help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

You can use a remote disc to download Office as shown here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287
    But please note several cautions:
    1.  The product key is intended for one machine only.  You would have to be the sole user.
    2.  Office 2008 is now very close to being obsolete.  Office 2011 has been out for years, and Office 365 is available for your Mac as well.

  • Can I swap the harddisks between a new MacBook Air and a MacBook 2009?

Can I swap the harddisks between a new MacBook Air and a MacBook 2009?
I want to buy a MacBook Air and give my MacBook to my wife but
I want to keep all my files, itunes libraries, user accounts, etc.
Will the new Mac Book Air detect the new hardware and install the new
    drivers by itself?

Hi uni2canarias and welcome to Apple Discussions!
The hard drive in the MacBook Air is not meant to be user replaceable. Further, the OS installed on your MacBook would likely not run the MacBook Air.
A better solution might be to use the Migration Assistant to move your data to the new computer. This comes up when you are setting up the new computer for the first time.
    Best of luck.

  • How can I connect the first generation ipod to macbook air?

How can I connect the first generation ipod to macbook air or macbook pro? Using an adapter?

    macbook air
The only theoretical solution is an USB ExpressCard adapter and FireWire ExpressCard. I don't know if anyone's actually attempted it.
    macbook pro
A FireWire 400 to 800 cable or adapter, also known as 6 pin to 9 pin.

  • Can I upgrade the ram memory of my Macbook air from 4gb to 8gb?

Anybody knows if I can upgrade the ram memory of a Macbook Air from 4gb to 8gb?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The memory in the MacBook Air is soldered onto the logic board, so you can't upgrade RAM after buying your computer. It's important to buy your MacBook Air with the amount of memory you will use because you won't be able to install more RAM

  • Can not locate the airplay icon on my macbook air

    Hello
I recently bought apple tv. As far i am very happy with it, but i am having annoying issue with the apple tv and my macbook air. The macbook can not seem to be able to stream any content to it, no matter what settings i change. It just seem to be missing completely the airplay option. I am running the latest OS X Yosemite update. Any ideas how i can solve this?

    Hello PWGltd,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
In order to use AirPlay between a Mac and an Apple TV, your Mac needs to be one of the following:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
Mac Pro (Late 2013 or newer)

  • How can I change the BlackBerry Link Network Drive mapping from Z: to something else?

    Hello,
I generally have a mapping to my NFS server on Z:, and my iTunes library has a relative path to Z: for all of my music - the fact that Link is automatically picking Z: as my network sync target for my device does not work for me to sync music, or anything really. I can't figure out how to change this value to something else.
I found the registry key: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\Device Manager\Device Settings\<DEVICENAME>\VolumeMapping with a default blank REG_SZ - can I use this key at all to manually change drive mappings for my device? If so, what is the key/value pair I need and will this mess up any assumptions taken inside the Link software for synching?
... Also, I have a Feature Enhancement Request to go along with this issue: Add a "Change drive map letter" button beside the "Turn on wireless connections to my computer" button in Link, and add the same option in the context menu to the 'Device Manager' for the mapping (which currently just says 'Explore').
    Thanks for the help,
     - Jeff

I do not know a lot about this subject but since Device Manager is not a Device and the BlackBerry Phone is not recognized as a Device in Disk management unless Mass Storage is turned ON it looks as if by design you cannot change the Drive Letter.
Also if Mass Storage is turned On in the Phone Settings File Manager and BB link will not work but the BB Phone will then be recognized as a Device in Disk Management and the Drive Letter can be changed, this has no effect on the Drive Letters for Device Manager.
Normally to change the Drive Letter and Paths of a Device once the Device is plugged you would go to Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management, right click the Device and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths"
Changing the Registry or Uninstalling Device Manager but keeping BB Link or looking for a Utility that can change the Drive Letter such as the one that many XP users had called TweakUI (only worked in XP) or changing the Drive Letter for your Network may be the only way.

  • I can not install the aluminium keyboard to my macbook

I bought the aluminium keyboard to use with my macbook. When I first tried it, it worked fine without requiring me to do any special installation. But it never worked again. I tried to download the software or updates, as specified in the manual, but when I try to open it to run the installation, it keeps saying that I have a newer version and doesnt let me run it.
When I plug it in a PC, it recognizes it as a new hardware, indicating that the USB is fine and that the problem is probably the macbook.
Any suggestions on what to try next?
how do I find the software that "I already have a newer version"?
Is there a way that I can uninstall it and then install it again? would this help?

I just added the HD Cinema display and the Aluminum Keyboard to my MacBook. System Update keeps on trying to update to Alum Keyboard Update 1.0, over and over, but it never stops asking me to update. What's going on, and how can I get this GroundHog Day torture to stop?
I've tried plugging the keyboard into the monitor and the MacBook, but it won't fix the problem.

  • How to Install Airport Extreme Utility Software on MacBook Air

Here's my dilemma: I have an iMac G5 which I use with Remote Disk to install software on my MacBook Air. But when I try to use my new Airport Extreme install disk, I get an error telling me the software cannot be installed over a network. If I try copying the package, I just get an alias (and the original can't be found: voodoo!).
How do I get the Airport Extreme software on my MacBook Air???? Why is there no download link provided?
    Any help gratefully received.

    Here's one:

That version (5.4.2) won't work with the very latest AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule units, which need version 5.5.

  • I can't install my MC344LL/A on my MacBook Air running Lion

    Hi all...
I got a Time Capsule, model MC344LL/A.   I put the disc in & it says I cannot install it on my computer running Lion.   I searched for any time of update, but I cannot figure out what the heck I need.   Can anyone help me install this please?   Thanks to all!

You should be able to configure that Time Capsule with the AirPort Utility software that's probably already on your Mac.  Look in the Utilities folder.

  • How can I upgrade the hard drive in my MacBook Air early 2014 11"?

i have a macbook air with a 128gb ssd drive and want to install a larger drive. where can I buy the drive from and how do I install it?

At the present time there are no third party PCIe SSDs available.  Until some are produced for sale, the only alternative is to purchase a MBA with larger storage.
    Ciao.
