What are you trying to achieve? Are you editing movies as a hobby? Or trying to build a business – and, if so, what kind?
iMovie is the first thing that comes to mind. Not the depth of FCPX, but it can still do some excellent work.

Can I transfer a project from the trial version of Final Cut Pro X to the Full version which I have now downloaded.
The trial version is named "Final Cut Pro Trial" and the App Store version is called "Final Cut Pro".
So, they can both be in the Applications folder at the same time, but only one can be open/launched at a time.
If, for some reason, your trial is older (like version 10.0.4) that your newly purchased FCPX (should be 10.0.5), and you do not click Update to your events/Projects, they will NOT show in the bought version!
Open the licensed FCPX and make sure it does update your things, in case it asks for it! -

Not sure what you purchased but it wasn't a serial number. FCPX has no serial number. You simple download it from the App Store using your Apple ID.

How do I continue editing a project from the trial version of final cut pro to the paid version
I have been working on a project on the trial version of final cut pro x. I bought the full version even though my trial wasn't up yet. When I opened the paid version my projects from the trial are not in there. I also closed the trial and opening the paid version and my projects were still not there. Transition issues in trial version of Final Cut Pro
Help...I have a trial version of Final Cut Pro and all the transitions stop at a maximum of 20 frames - I cannot seem to expand them to longer. I tried different transitions and all stop at 20 frames...is this just a trial restriction or is there a setting that I need to change. I already tried adjusting the default transition setting but that made no difference
Help I am completely stuck and cannot progress my projectthe transition length depends on the length of handles avail in both clips 'left/right' of transitions.

How can I get a version of Final Cut Pro X that works on OS Mountain Lion?
I just downgraded my laptop to its original OS (Lion) and will be upgrading soon to Mountain Lion because this laptop is too old to work with Mavericks or Yosemeti. So far Final Cut Pro X, Motion and Compressor (which I had originally purchased when I first bought the computer) do not work. Will Final Cut Pro X work on Mountain Lion? If not, what can I do to get a version that will work?

At the time it was written it was apparently possible to download from the app store with a computer running ML. Maybe this is still the case.
FCP 10.1. has video requirements which are not met by older machines. I'm not sue about 10.0.9 but that might possibly be a 'gotcha'
I'm a bit confused though since if you downgraded you laptop to Lion but Mountain Lion is the latest OS it will run then you must have been running ML already

Patricl, please answer Russ's question; and fear not, deleting or installing a version of FCP X does not delete or move any of your media or projects.
If the trial was from an older version (10.0.x), there is a necessary update procedure. 10.1.x uses libraries to organize your content, and the older stuff must be converted to the new organizational scheme, but it is well worth it. -
I need to remove a rig/wires from my final cut pro 7 project. Can Apple Motion 4 remove them? If not can anyone recomment any plugins for Final Cut Pro or Motion that can remove them. Thanks!!
In Motion 5 there is a plugin from CoreMelt called "SliceX" that does this. But I don't know anything in Motion 4 that will do it. You may get more help posting in the appropriate "Final Cut Studio" section of this forum.

Matt59 yes you can install Photoshop Elements 13 separately. The evaluation process is software title specific.
