When you press F11 it will try to run the recovery off of the hard drive.
In order to launch the recovery off the DVDs, put in DVD disc one and reboot the PC
Press F9 when rebooting and make sure the DVD drive is selected
This will begin the recovery from teh discs rather than the hard drive

I need recovery for laptop Pavilion dv6-1235ee , I need the link for the recovery or send recovery cd to my mail

If you have the recovery partition intact on your notebook, you can just press F11 during boot and it will take you to the recovery mode. Just follow the instructions to perform a recovery and it will reset your notebook back to the factory settings.
In case you do not have the recovery partiion, I would advise you to go through the following document which will help you resolve the issue:

  • I NEED RECOVERY DISKS HP PAVILION DV6-6170SE ???/

HOW CAN I GET RECOVERY DISKS

    Hi,
You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00810334&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you have problems getting a set of Recovery Discs, there is a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
Use the retail disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

  • HP Recovery Disabled - HP Pavilion Dv6.

I am trying to recover my laptop but i seem to have missed place the 4th disk needed for the recovery and i noticed i can't just do the 1-click restore feature as it is disabled.
I know its due to the creation of the 3rd "virtual" hard drive ( Partition ) .
I was wondering if there was any way around that and still be allowed to use the recovery.
    Please help

Hello Mootee.  So, you previously created recovery discs and lost one and now need to be able to recover.  Is this correct?
Also, when you talk about the "creation of the 3rd partition" does this mean that you have your own custom partition tables?  If this is the case the F11 recovery is unlikely to work.
You're going to need to order a set of recovery discs (as you can only create a single set) from HP directly.  If you are in the US/Canada just give them a call at 1-800-474-6836.  If you're in another part of the world you'll need to visit HP Support Worldwide to get your area's contact information.
I hope this information is helpful and that you have a great weekend!

  • Can I Replace a Keyboard(Non-Backlit) with Backlit Keyboard in my HP Pavilion DV6 3217TU Laptop.??

Hello All... My name Pravin and I own a HP PAVILION DV6-3217TU Laptop couple of years ago.
Well, when I visited a near by HP Customer service center for the replacement of some components in it, the HP Technician has told me that My HP PAVILION DV6-3217TU Laptop is compatible for the up-gradation with Backlit Keyboard as he found the required sockets available for a backlit keyboard on my laptop's Mother Board. I felt pretty happy to hear about that, as it sounds real cool for the guy like me who works mostly at night time...
PLEASE CAN ANYBODY CONFIRM THAT MY HP PAVILION DV6-3217TU Laptop IS COMPATIBLE FOR THIS UP-GRADATION, IF COMPATIBLE, DOES ALL THE KEY STROKES WORKS FINE AS THE PREVIOUS ONE.???
Hope I hear a good news about it from the great experts here..^_*

  • Restore hp pavilion dv6 with disk

    Hi,
    There are two options available.
    1.  You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - these will reinstall the operating system, all required drivers and nearly all of the original software ( the exception often being trials of MS Office ).  They will also re-create all the original partitions, including the Recovery Partition.
    Order HP Recovery Discs.
    2.  Another option you could consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - this is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn ( Note: You may want to de-select the additional software offerings during the installation of ImgBurn ) to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  The Windows Image source is Digital River.
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit.
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer, inside the battery compartment, or on the BIOS setup screen. Please DO NOT include your serial number. Enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and post it here for our review.
If you installed a generic copy of Windows 7 on your computer prior to creating your personal HP Recovery Discs, you may no longer be able to do so. If the "HP Recovery" partiton still exists on the hard drive and hasn't been damaged, please use the Windows Disk Management Console to mark or set the HP Recovery partition as active and reboot your computer. Please see HP - Partitioning and Naming Hard Drives (Windows 7) for information about using the Windows Disk Management Console. Upon rebooting, the computer should start the HP Recovery process. After recovering the computer to a factory like state, you should be able to create your personal HP Recovery Discs.
If this doesn't work, please contact official HP support in your region / country via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your computer.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 1334us won't start after windows update, stuck in Error Recovery

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 1334us with 32bit-windows 7. The computer did automatic updates and when it started up said there was another one avaliable through WIndows Updater. I installed the update and it said the computer needed to restart for the update to take effect. I choose to restart and the computer wouldn't boot back up, it boots to the 'Windows Error Recovery' screen where my options are 'Launch Startup Repair (recommended)' and 'Start Windows Normally'. When I select the repair, it says it loads windows files, then goes back to the error recovery screen. When I choose to start normally, it freezes the second it trys to start, flashes a blue screen and then returns to the Error Recovery page again.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from Recovery Manager.

I got my son's older HP Laptop, and decided to restore it before using it for myself.  Previously it was working OK.  An HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from the Recovery Manager.  I have tried running the recovery manager from both the HD partion and the DVD media I created.  The HD and Memory pass.  The wireless f12 key is off, and can not be turned back on from the keyboard.  Some previous post have suggested the wireless being off could be a problem.   Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

    Hi
No that Recovery media won't work in your laptop.
ISO file can be used to clean install. You'll have to get all the 25 character alphanumeric product activation key printed on the COA label on the back of your laptop to be clearly & legibly readable for activation of ISO after install.

You have to first install chipset, restart system - then audio driver-restart, graphic driver- restart, ethernet controller(LAN), network controller(WLAN & Bluetooth), card reader, touchpad , Protect smart hard drive protection driver, quick launch software in order.
I could see that your model came with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) pre installed.

It sounds like you need to purchase a new hard drive for your notebook, and reinstall the operating system with your recovery disks.
