I can't load songs from iMusic onto my iPod

When I attach my iPod to the PC all that happens is the phrase "Do Not Disconnect" shows up on the nano screen. I also can't upload any songs from iMusic to the iPod and I have tried to sync this several times. Am I doing something wrong or is my iPod defective? I appreciate the help.
Mike

Thanks for the help. Yes, I created a playlist in iTunes so we're doing that right. I originally created a few playlists in iTunes a few months ago when I first bought the iPod and had no trouble synching, but now it won't allow me to do that successfully. As to synching, I am clicking on every Sync iPod command but nothing is transferred between iTunes and the iPod. Any ideas? I assume this is broken. Thanks, Mike

  • I can't copy purchased songs from iTunes onto my iPod on my new computer.

I have an HP Pavilion zd7000 notebook computer. It's used. It was given to me by a family member. I put my iPod software onto it. I can purchase songs from iTunes, and I can connect my iPod and play the music. However, when I tried to put a purchased song from iTunes onto my iPod, I was told that I wasn't allowed. Is there some sort of security thing I don't know about?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you sure your computer is authorized for this? This is probably your issue.
If you go to the "Advanced" tab on the top in iTunes, is there a "Deauthorize computer..." button or an "Authorize computer..." button? If there's an "authorize computer" link, then that is your issue. Authorize your computer, and you should be able to transfer iTMS purchased songs from iTunes to iPod.
For details, see this Apple article:
    About iTMS authorization and deauthorization
    I hope this helps you,

  • Can't drag songs from itunes onto anything (desktop, flash drive, etc.)

    This is weird.
All of a sudden, I can't drag songs from itunes onto the desktop, any folder on my hard drive, my flash drive, or my spare hard drive. On a health computer, if you drag a large number of files, first they land as white icons and they fill in as they get transferred. With my computer, the white icons stick around for a few second and then disappear. The first time I try, I can transfer 1-10 files successfully. After that it stops working. Here is what I've done.
1] Upgraded my system from 10.3.X to 10.4.5
    2] I upgraded itunes from 7.0 to 7.3.1
    Has anyone seen this before?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Jeff

Since I can not edit my own post I'll have to reply to myself... Sorry for the "spam" on the forums.
I DID find something out (while playing with this some more)...
Try and copy as many songs as you can with UNIQUE titles. I've noticed that when you drag the songs in iTunes to the desktop (or a folder) the file it creates/copies is named like so: "songtitle.mp3."
Apparently the Finder and iTunes don't play well together [enough] to prevent several files of the same name from appearing - in most OS's I've played with (Linux and Windows, in addition to other Apple & Mac OS's over the years) there's a mechanism for handling this... Windows just adds a number to the end the of the second (and all future occurring) file(s) of the same name - as does most Linux builds I've used... Apparently the Finder in OS X just doesn't do anything - at all - when it discovers this "name error."
What I had to do (I was copying my Christmas music - do you know how many "Jingle Bells.mp3" files you can have?!) was make many folders or manually rename EACH FILE one by one so that others could be copied in the same place since the file name would always be JUST THE SONG NAME and the extension (and I do tend to keep my files in higher bitrate MP3 format for easier shuffling from OS to OS as I tend to use (in case you've not noticed) many different ones at any given time).
So, try avoiding any songs with the same title (or altering the title in iTunes somehow), or make separate folders to keep the same song name files from being created in the same place; and see if that doesn't clear this problem up for you - it did for me. ^_^
    And sorry for being so "wordy" on this post. ^_^;

  • Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?

Can I load photos from iMac onto iPad2 model A1395?  The model A1395 is described as "wi-fi only" and has a 30 pin connector for charging.
[By contrast, this is NOT the iPad2 model A1396, which is described as "Wi-Fi/GMS/GPS AT&T" or the Model A1397, which is described as "Wi-Fi/CDMA/GPS Verizon". Nor is it the model A1337, described as "Wi-Fi/3G/GPS (Original)".]
Wi-Fi only seems to me to have an ominous ring to it.  I am synching with my iPhone through the iCloud, if that is of any use.
In addition, I should note that the photo files I want to look at in the iPad are large files, a little over 100 MB in JPEG format.  The desire is to display the whole image (these are archival photos of heirloom quilts) and then be able to focus in on specific details (by enlrging them so that the stitching and other details can be seen).  I mention this because I tthink there may be some 30 MB limit on the size of a file that the iPAD can handle.  Would I be able to examine a larger file (but perhaps npot as large as 100 MB) if I had 64 MB memory in the iPad?
    Winston

WiFi only refers to the fact that the iPad connects to the Internet via WiFi because it does not have cellular capability. That has nothing to do with the ability to put photos on the device.
Sync the photos from the Mac via iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Select the folder from which your photos are located in the Sync Photos From Heading. If you use iPhoto - select that or navigate to the specific photos folder on the Mac.
If you use iPhoto, select all of the albums, or events that you want to sync. If you use another photos folder, you can select one level of sub folders within that main folder.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
Having 64GB of storage also has nothing to do with the ability to view the photos on the iPad since that refers to storage capacity. However, the larger the storage capacity, the more photos the iPad will be able to hold.
I know of no limit on the size that a photo needs to be in order to be viewable on the iPad.
If you use iCloud, you can sync photos that you shoot on the iPd and iPhone across devices via Photo Stream, but it just be turned on for this to work. Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream on. Any photos that you take on one device after photo stream is turned on, will sync to the other device.

can i tranfer songs from  a playlist on my ipod to a new playlist in my itunes library?

You'll need third-party software for content not purchased from the iTunes Store. Check out this post from Zevoneer for some iPod/iPhone media recovery options:

  • How can I get songs from iTunes onto my iPhone

Help!  I just downloaded the new update onto my 3gs and I can't sync the songs in iTunes BACK onto my iPhone....
    M

I'm having similar problems. going from an iphone used on a different computer to a new mac is extremely difficult. In order to add those songs that have been "skillfully acquired" requires the owner to "erase and sync" everything from the iphone. Not only that, I have bought hundreds of songs from iTunes (they have a lot of my money) and I have problems now when i purchase a song from my mac that does not auto. sync to my phone. it requires me to manually download the song itunes app on the phone in the purchased section.
I love Apple, no other computer or mobile device - in my opinion - can compare. However, these added securities and the red tape found in iTunes is frustrating and inconveniencing.

  • Help please!  I can't get songs from icloud onto my laptop.

Hi, I have had a terrible time with my music and iTunes of late. All of which I am sure is because I have installed and unistalled so many times in the last 3 weeks that
I have created a huge mess. I can see the songs in itunes - (most have been purchased) but when I try to listen to them, put them in a playlist and try to burn a cd- I get a message stating that they are not on my computer. I have been trying to download songs from the icloud to my laptop and I get a message that states:
The file name was invalid or too long. Please check that connection to the network is active and try again.
    or
There were problems downloading some purchase items.
Before this whole nightmare began I had added "google drive" to my computer and I think that alot of the files are stored there. When I open the music folder the thread goes on and on.and on.. So frustrated. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

I fixed my problem - yours might be different, but it might be the same too . . . My problem was similar to what you described. The hardware connected sound was there but the device seemed to not be recognized. Turned out that it was just running very very very very very slowly (thinking that it was an old as hell Iomega Zip dri've)
The Creative device was using a driver written by Iomega (that was the tip off)
Once I got rid of the Iomega stuff, it works fine.
If you have any slower (older?) mass storage dri'ves - you might try uninstalling them to see if that fixes the problem . . .
    good luck

  • How can I move songs from my wife's iPod to her new iPhone?

My wife got a new iPhone 5 yesterday.  She had some songs on her iPod and wanted them transferred to her new phone.  When I explored this on the web, I came up with Touch Copy.  I downloaded a free trial and was able to get the songs from her iPod to my computer (but they are in a Touch Copy folder, they do not come up in the iTunes library).  Now I can't get the songs onto her new phone.  When I explored that, I came across Disk-Aid.  Before I got deeper into 3rd party software (and multiple ones at that), I wanted to get some advice.  So, here I am...I would appreciate any information you can give me.  Thanks, Kenny.

Does your wife have the computer she syncd her iPod to?
Connect up iPhone 5 and sync the content on to it

  • Can I load songs and photos into an Ipod Nano I have purchased as a gift?

I have purchased an Ipod Nano 2GB as a gift for my 9 year old granddaughter for Xmas.
Before sending it I'd like to load some songs & photos on it, from my own Ipod Library and computer.
I'm concerned that doing this from my computer will only complicate things when they receive the Ipod and then install it on their own computer. The family is not real computer literate and the simpler the better.
What advice does anyone have - best to leave the new Ipod untouched and empty and have the initial install with Itunes/Apple on the computer they will be using? (Windows XP as well)
    Thanks very much!

Personally I think it would be best to leave it. To use an iPod on multiple computers it has to be set to manual update. If your granddaughter wanted to update her iPod automatically (which is the simplest way) whatever you put on would get erased as the songs and pictures wouldn't be on her computer. Why not send along an iTunes gift certificate with it so she can buy some songs she'd like? Also, point the family to this web page, there's lots of useful information for new users here: iPod Nano Fast Start: New User's Guide to iPod Nano
