I can't log into ichat with my .me or .mac account..help?

I am on the ichat screen and it is telling me the user id or password is incorrect and I see from previous discussions that the password needs to be short. But mine is 6 characters no numbers. Is this the problem? Under .me is just won't connect me. Under .mac it is stating the AOL username...issue. Not sure how to get on. I log on on my laptop with no issue? Any help would be great. You can use an AIM (Or AOL) as AIM stands for AOL Instant Messenger.
Apple have an agreement with AIM that @Mac.com and Mobileme/iCloud (*@me.com) Names are also valid AIM Screen Names.
However the Passwords must be kept to 16 characters or less due to the limits on the AIM servers.
Other Apple IDs are not Valid Screen Names unless you specifically Register them with AIM - OR they belong to another Service which iChat can access and are valid as Chat names with that Service.

The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

I can't log into iChat?

I had my logic board replaced recently and i'm not sure if it has anything to do with it but i can no longer log into ichat...
I am getting messages saying that my info is wrong and i am going into the preferences and changing it, but to no avail...
please help?! I use it to talk to my work colleagues when i'm overseas so it's pretty important!

Your specs say OS X 10.6.8 which means you should have iChat 5.0.3
Can you confirm you have this version ?
Go to the Application Folder and highlight iChat then use the File Menu of the Finder > Get Info (Or the Keystrokes)
What sort of name are you trying to Login ?
AN @mac.com Name should be valid (With AIM) but Apple will allow you to create a password longer than the 16 characters that the AIM server can deal with.
IF you have changed or linked an Apple ID to an iCloud ID and are trying the new iCloud version (@me.com) this will not work in iChat 5 or Earlier.
iChat 6 and Messages in Mountain Lion also log in to me.com that allows the AIM server to then "See" the password. iChat 5 does not have this dual Login and the names will not work. (you would normally get a pop up alert messages about either the name or Password being "wrong")
There are some reports that @mac.com names that have been used by people on trips abroad have been Suspended by AIM (Unusual Activity)
Go here and Sign in https://settings.aim.com/ and it will tell you (iCloud Names can't login here either)

HT204053 Can I log into iCloud with an alias email?

Noob here, did a search and couldn't seem to find an answer. (or I didnt look hard enough. ) So aplogies if these have already been asked before.
I want to change my iCloud email address, but I've searched around here and read that you can't change it once you create it and link it to your apple ID. So, I created an alias and was wondering if you could log into iCloud with an alias email?
For example if my iCloud address is [email protected] and my alias was [email protected], could I go to icloud.com and login using [email protected]?
Also, what are the proper steps to get the alias email to behave like the icloud primary email;I stupidly chose a dumb icloud email address and regret it, and if I set the alias to be the only email to be able to send mail in my iphone and macbook, can I basically ignore the primary icloud email and use the alias the whole time to send and compose mail?
Also, I don't necessarily need to know/use the primary icloud email, since I use my apple ID to log into icloud.com?
From what I understand, the primary icloud that is linked to your apple ID is mail server, right? I'm not really sure, to be honest.

In the Mail application on your Mac, add the aliases, separated by commas, to the 'Email address' field in Preferences>Accounts>General. They will then appear in the drop-down menu for the 'From' address in the New message pane.
They already appear in the equivalent place in the new message pane at icloud.com.

Can not log into Infoview with Windows AD credentials

I am using CRS 2008 V1 SP3. I migrated all my AD users from XIR2 to 2008 version recently. I also mapped the AD users correctly and most of my windows AD users are able to log into infoview except some users. I checked those users exist in CMC user list. They also have no problem logging in with their Enterprise password. I even deleted the AD member groups and added again in Windows AD auth in CMC. Also restarted the CMS and the machine itself but NO LUCK. I dont understand why there's problem with only those few users. One of the user recently changed her password..so my another assumption is may be her token is lost...but it should fix when i restarted the machine. Please help!!!

ok that means the primary issue is with the servercie account ort AD. To eliminate the service account in the CMC > auth > windows AD > change the setting from kerberos to NTLM and test client tools again. Fail mean the problem is with the user or AD, success means the problem is with the service account or kerberos.

Ichat with an email only .mac account?

Is it possible to use an email only .mac account with ichat? I have tried to look in this forum, but all I could find referenced aliases, which I know you can't. I have also done Google searches and talked with other ichat users, some say yes and some say no. I have tried repeatedly to set up an ichat account using my email only .mac account but with no success so far. Am I doing something wrong, or is it truly unable to be done?

It has to be a Full paid for account, A lapsed account or a trial Account (which will be able to work after the sixty days).
It can not be a sub email account.

I can't log in iChat with .mac account

since i changed my .mac password, ichat (i used million times before) ask me for log in AOL and then don't accept my log.
i tried to use old password with the .mac ID and the new pass with the same ID but this does'nt work.
then i tried to cancel my isight account and redo with my actual .Mac id and pass.
but after the log in procedure, AOL block me again with a new login request.
Someone can help me?

I fonud the answer in an other discussion: it was because of the password lenght: AOL accept only 16 character max password.
My pass was 20...

Can't log into my new Ichat account

I can't Log into my ichat account. I have tried changing the account name and passwords in preferences........all it says is that my account name or server isn't valid. Previously it seemed to have retained a very long password that I didn't write.

I have a Mac mini running the latest version of OS X and Server. Been running fine and flawlessly. However, I had a strange problem with the iCloud preferences panel crashing when I tried to access it, so I rebooted. Now I can not log into the system with any accounts. My master admin account (along with all the others) gives me the error:
You are unable to login to the user account "abcdefg" at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an error occurred."
I am able to see the server from other macs and I can log into it using the same account, but it only shows me a few of the shared folders I have access to but NOT to my main directories.
Rebooting into Command-R and doing a disk utility, I try and repair permission on that drive and get a bunch of errors like:
ACL found but not expected on Users
Repaired "Users"
ACL found but not expected on Users/.localized
Repaired "Users/.localized"
ACL found but not expected on Users/Shared
Repaired "Users/shared"
ACL found but not expected on Users/Shared/.localized
Repaired "Users/Shared/.localized"
Permissions repair complete.
But rebooting is no joy...same problem. Any idea what is going on or how to repair it? Should I do a time machine restore? Complete new OS X install? Any idea what is causing this or how to salvage it?

Got everything to re-install and it worked fine...for a few hours. Then I came in to find ALL of my network users deleted. Just GONE. Then found out the Open Directory was trashed and was unable to open, recover or restore from a backup. Looks like I may have a bad drive here.
I installed a new drive in the system, re-installed and so far (for a couple of hours anyway) the system seems to be working and stable.

ICloud child account - Can't log into Apple ID or iCloud with child account

Nightmare! Created three kids accounts. Loaded the ID on iTouchs.
Then went to https://appleid.apple.com/account/home to change info... couldn't log in.
I also couldn't log into iCloud with the new ID's.
After a call to apple (no help) and thinking real hard (and wasting a day)....
The reason is because when I entered the new ID into iTouch (the ID was orginally created on my Iphone)... I had restrictions turned on in the iTouch.
I disabled all restrictions. Waited a few minutes. Then was able to log into both sites.
Then put restrictions back on on the iTouch. Still able to log into both sites.
Apple failed to mention that small detail.
Hope this helps someone else.
PS. Apple told me that the kids id was not able to be used as an email? or log into iCloud? NOT!
It has full rights as any other ID (other than purchases).

Where are you trying to log in? You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - can you log in there?
Before you change your ID you should log out of the iTunes Store and on any devices which are logged into iCloud. Then once you've changed it you can log back in with the new ID. (Your iCloud synced data will disappear from the device when you do this but will reappear when you sign back in - give it time).
If you are unable to sign into http://appleid.apple.com you will need to contact Support. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. You will have to format your iPad. Looks like that's the only way to reset your password.
Formatting your iPad
Turn off your iPad, turn on iTunes, hold large button down on ipad while connecting the white ipad cord to your Pc.
When the window prompts format iPad,let the button go and press format button on iTunes.

What mail provider are you currently using (Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo?).
Open up safari and go to that providers website and log into your email.
If you get in than open the mail app and click on mail on the top of the screen, then go down to preferences, click on the accounts tab, and type your password. Close the window and it will save.
If this doesn't work I would even try deleting the account by going into mail/preferences/accounts and clicking the - button in the bottom left corner. Than re add and configure the account by pressing the + button.

After my routine software update to 10.7.5, I can't log into my main log-in id. Whenever I put my password in, it takes me back to the log-in screen. I'm sure of the password not being wrong because i can access my other admin accounts from which i changed the password. All my files and data is in that id. Please help. Thank you.
