I'm trying to activate my new 4S and I can't make any calls -it says "No Service" What am I doing wrong?

I followed all the prompts and plugged my new 4S into my desktop, everything has sync'd but I still can't make any calls. It's obviously not connecting to the network. What am i doing wrong?

Try a Battery Pull:
1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)

Under Options>Mobile Network, check the settings there. You may be roaming and hence your data services could be "Off when roaming" and your network selection mode could be set to "Home only". Change these and it may work.
Other than that, I would suggest talking to your service provider since this may be an issue at their end.

Please sign in to your Skype web account page at www.skype.com/go/myaccount - Within the "Usage" section you can find information about your calls and call attempts. Could be the number you tried calling is blocked for calls from Skype. Can you share what type of number this is?

Can't make phone calls after trying ti install 4181

Last night I installed the latest os 4181. (via wifi) it took forever. Got the BB logo for the longest time. I went to bed hopeing it would be done in the morning. Well, woke up and still see the logo. So i decided to hold the top button and reboot. It rebooted. All my apps and emails were there. But my text message icon was gone. I reboot again. Text message icon shows up but all my text messages are gone!!! I sent a text to myself and it works. I checked my software and it apparently didn't even upgrade to 4181! it's still os 10.1.0.2050 software release 10.1.0.2014. But I was glad that all my apps and emails were still there. Sad my texts were gone...but i live. Stupid me forgot to backup though.
I went out for the day. Didn't make any phone calls. Then i noticed i got a voicemail. I tried calling, but i got a message saying "Call Failure. Unable to connect your call Please try again." i tried dialing and it didn't work. WTF?!? I can't make any phone calls!! i tried to turn my network on and off (i'm with Telus) and still didn't work.
I got home and backed up everything. Thinking I'll try to download 4181 again, or maybe I should download my current os again.
Is anyone havening the same issues?!? I've read people lost their texts but they did have theirs upgraded to 4181. Mine didn't.

I did a chat w Telus yesterday and he couldn't figure it out. 4181 did not install on my phone. Its still 2050. It says my network is Telus and I do get emails and texts (although I lost all my text messages). The Telus guy said my network is fine. He sent a ticket to a tech guy and someone is to get back to me. I jst can't wait so long. I need to make and receive calls. I asked him to send me the link to reinstall 2050 but he couldn't find it. I tried to download the 4181 again. Same problem. Stuck st the bb icon for hours. I rebooted by holding down the top button. It rebooted. It did not install 4181. Lost the texts I sent yesterday. Urgent! Phone can't make phone call after upgrading to ios 6

Hi guys,
I use my US factory unlocked iPhone 4s 32GB in China (Carrier is China Mobile). The phone can't make phone call (has no carrier service signal) after I upgraded its OS to ios 6. Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Whenever I see "factory unlocked" I get suspicious, because there is no such thing as "factory unlocked". If you purchased the phone directly from Apple and the receipt says "unlocked" then it is unlocked. If you did not purchase it directly from Apple it was hacked to unlock it by whoever you bought it from. The "factory" was the back room of the shop. Unless you bought it directly from Apple (or an Apple-supported cellular carier) your phone was hacked, and updating it undid the hack. If this is the case there is no solution that can be discussed in an Apple-hosted forum.
If you really did buy it unlocked directly from Apple then razmee's suggestion is the way to go.

All of a sudden this mid-morning, I wasn't able to make any calls from my iPhone 4S.
Everything else works fine. was able to make calls earlier in the morning too.
Have tried:
- turning it on and off
- soft reset
- turning airplane mode on and off
- checking caller ID
- resetting network settings
nothing works.
Please let me know what else I can try.
Signal is good, when I receive calls, voice are crystal clear.
Phone is provided from my company, so no problem with payments i think.
updated to ios 5.1.1 last week.

Check to make sure you haven't accidently turned "Airplane Mode" on. If that's not on, try syncing and backing up your phone and doing a complete reset and sync everything back onto your phone. If all else fails, contact your phone company. Good Luck.

How can I make a call to *190*phone number# in c#?

I am trying to create an app as shortcut for some requests.
I want to make a call to this number: *190*phone number# using c# but it never works.
On the phone, I can call this number and I get a reply from my provider.
If I try to call it using:
Windows.ApplicationModel.Calls.PhoneCallManager.ShowPhoneCallUI("*190*phone number#", "TEST CALL");
I get a message saying that I have to use the dialer keypad to send the request.
Is there a workaround for this (bug)? I mean, if I put the phone number in the phoneCall-request, it is because I don't want insert it manually in the dialer keypad...

If Microsoft want security, they should create a smartphone without the possibility to install apps ;)
If an app can't make a call (user has to press CALL), the same thing is also possible for a FREE request to the provider, or not?

.My phone provider created an app for iPhone and one for Android. I was thinking I would be able to create something for Windows Phone too. Now I know why nobody want to create tools for Windows Phone. The API never allow you to write a utility (for security

About this BUG:
I can create a textbox where the user can copy the phone number (maybe the app could copy it automatically in the clipboard if there is no security problem about the OS :P). But the user has to exit the app, open the dialer and insert this text.
Is there a way to open the phone dialer?

My old iPhone 4 is broken, I went to apple store, the support guy told me to pay $150 for a new refurbish phone, now this phone I don't have any service, so I can't make or receive any call, what can I do?

I can't send or receive texts, and when trying to make calls to any number I receive the following message "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number, if you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account please call customer service." I don't have a house phone so cannot use another phone to call customer service, I'd like to have my phone working by tonight if possible, but won't have access to a phone until Monday.

Oh wow! Well if you can't make or receive calls or texts, that makes your smartphone not so smart! Let's educate it a bit! When did this all start? Have you ever been able to call or text? You didn't mention anything about data so are you able to connect to the data network?
In terms of troubleshooting, let's pull the battery out of the back of the phone and also can you check the SIM card for me. It is located at the bottom of the phone once you remove the back cover. It is a small white card about the size of your pinky fingernail. Take a look here http://bit.ly/WLyOoJ and make sure that it is inserted correctly.

Sorry to hear that you cannot make any FaceTime calls. If you have not done so already, take a look at the article below to go over some general troubleshooting to get it back up and working again. Check the settings on your iPad for things like Date & Time is set correctly to making sure your connection to the internet is good.
