I can't make any entries in Calendar further ahead than February. If I try to make an entry in March the Calendar shuts down. Why?

Try removing any all-day events from the calendar for the 1st April 2013 e.g. if you are syncing the calendar from somewhere else (e.g. Outlook on a PC or iCal/Calendar on a Mac) then change it to a timed event instead of all-day (if you don't sync your calendar from anywhere then try going into list view, go to 1st April and change any 'all day' events to times e.g. change Easter Monday to start at something like 4am) - it seems that there is a problem with all day events on that date which is when the clocks change due to daylight saving on the day before.

He has iPad 2, W7-fresh install, latest iTunes with iPad connected and viewing the contents on main iTunes screen, he can not make any adjustments to selecting apps (putting a check box next to app to include in next sync for ex.) Your first going to have to remove all your personal data off the machine to a external storage drive, do not use TimeMachine when it asks as this will copy the entire drive and is unnecessary at this time (also takes too long).
You need to drag and drop copy your personal data folders (Music, Pictures, Movies etc) to a external storage drive, once done, unmount and disconnect this drive.

Next your going to follow the Zero Erase and install method for your OS X version, either 10.6 or 10.7, here
How to reinstall just OS X or erase/install OS X
10.7 requires your AppleID and password to install, so make sure to have that ready.
Once you reboot your into the real setup of OS X, which will require your name etc, so it's now your machine.
Install your programs, iLife package is only free for the owner of the machine.
If you have the 10.6 machine specific disks, then it's on there.
If your using 10.7, then you'll have to purchase it from the App Store.
Last, return your files from the storage drive, consider setting up a TimeMachine or clone on the external drive.

Signing an applet basically gives it a certificate. The user decides whether to accept it. If no, it runs as a normal applet, if yes, it runs as a privileged applet like an application. Typically you would purchase certificates, but this is not necessary. You can self-sign. If the user knows and trusts you, he will click yes anyway.

Reset Password using Recovery HD
Boot into Recovery Partition.
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until you see OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter key on the keyboard.
Do not close the Terminal window
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click  in the menubar and select Restart.

My Aperture Library is automatically saved to two external drives.

Have you checked inside your Aperture library, if the original files are still there?
Try to find out, when the images in those projects have been originally imported, then open the Aperture library by ctrl-clicking it and using the command "Show package contents" from the pop-up menu. In the window that will open, select the folder "Masters" and browse the contents. You need to find the subfolder with the year you imported the images, then the folders with the month and the day.
Are your original files still there?
If yes, copy them to a folder on your desktop for safe-keeping, and then try, if repairing the permissions and the other Furst Aid tools will help Aperture to connect to these missing files again - see this link: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual
If the First Aid Tools don't help, then check, if Aperture has moved the missing images to a "recovered folder". If not, reimport the images, you saved to your Desktop and use the Lift&Stamp tool to transfer any adjustment and captions to your reimported images.
