I can't make my new wrt160nv2 work at all

I have a linksys cablemodem and router befsr41v4.3. I've been running a vista machine and xp machine with no problems for the last 2 years. Just got a Toshiba laptap that we want to connect to the internet also but use around the house so bought a WRT160Nv2. Followed the install disk for installation, named a SSID, unplugged and plugged in and finally got a done message saying everything was installed and done.
Plugged in the two desktop computers and went to IE7 and got a cannot connect to the internet. Network diagnostics came up with everything working fine in the computer.
Played with the Toshiba and it says it found the network I had named but can't connect to the internet.
Ran the disk set up because there was no documentation in the box and while I was at it printed the pdf manual. After the disk set up ran again got a message that the eternet cable was not connected and for me to plug it in.
But the cable was plugged in.
When I return to the old set up (the befsr41 wired router) then the desk tops and the Toshiba can all surf the internet (I plugged in a cat5 cable into the Toshiba).
How do I tell if the wrt160 itself is broken (just bought it 3 days ago!)? It seems odd that both the Toshiba wireless portion and the desktop wired portion both can't get onto the internet and I get a message that the ethernet cable is not connected.
Not knowing very much about the wireless portion (worked with wired only and talked to the best buy guy about how easy it is to replace the befsr41 with the wrt160n) but after the install disk is done installing the program, is the Toshiba automatically supposed to find the router and connect? When I search the Toshiba and go to network properties it says it's connected "a" network called the same thing that I called the wrt160n during the setup and that I get 4 or 5 green bars showing the connection between the Toshiba and the wrt160n. But there is a big red X between the router and the internet.
I was expecting something a lot easier than this to be able to use the internet on the desktops through the wired ports and the Toshiba throughout the house through the wireless portion.
It seems odd that BOTH the wired and the wireless don't work at all. I could understand I don't know how to get the Toshiba to connect wirelessly and I need to play with it but when I can't connect at all makes me think the problem is in the wrt160n.
Any thoughts before I take this thing back to best buy?

If you are trying to configure your Router with the Setup disk, you can exit from the Setup and configure your Router Manually.
If your Internet Service Providor is Cable follow this link ----- Once you are able to go online from the Wired computer, Below are the Wireless Settings which you can set on your Router and this will make your Laptop go Online Wirelessly.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
-Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S. I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds. After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?" I didn't even know such a function existed. Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual. If it is green, turn it off. You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu). I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere. Good luck!

I am having a very annoying problem with iWeb. Every option is greyed-out! I can't make a new page or site, and it quits as soon as I close the iWeb window. It is version 1.1.2 I have tried installing useless updates for iWeb that did nothing, and I've tried to open iWeb from iPhoto by clicking the iWeb button, which also did nothing. I'm just about to give up on it.
Can anybody please point me in the right direction or have a fix for this? All help will be appreciated!

The answer to your problem isn't necessarily the simplest, but I'm 99% sure that it will work for you.
You need to delete and reinstall iWeb. Not hard to do; you just need your installation DVD's that came with your machine.
Drag the iWeb.app from your Applications folder to the trash. Spotlight for other elements of iWeb, and trash those as well. Empty the trash and restart your machine.
On your recovery disks, as you move through the prompts, look for "Install bundled software". Customize the install to include only iWeb. After reinstalling iWeb you will be back to 1.0.1.
Update the app to 1.1.1 directly from this link:

This will get you going, and you can update to 1.1.2 when you are sure everything is working properly. For other FAQ on iWeb, please see this link:

We need a better description of what you bought. "Mac 5" doesn't ring a bell with me and I've been her a long time. Do you mean "iMac G5?"
If so, the latest versions of SilverLight require a Mac with an Intel processor--the G5 iMac is not an Intel-based computer so it will not install.
If it's a really a G5, neither can it run OS10.6 as shown in your equipment line. 10.5.8 is as high as it can go.

Call the seller and get the gray system install/restore disks that originally shipped with that computer, They are as much a part of the computer and the hard drive, and needed for resetting the password. I consider any used Mac sold without tose disk to be missing a part and therefore worth much less money.
So---right now we're fighting conflicting info. Please do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and post what is says about the processor and the OS version. If the processor description includes the word "Intel," you have a much newer Mac than the pre-2006 iMacs this forum covers and should repost in the forumfor newer iMacs here:

You Cannot make a new Movie Media Kind, they are set by apple to be Movie and Home Video. However under Genre you could create a new Genre and call it whatever you want by typing in the Genre Box in the Get Info , Info page. This will then be available for future selections.
I am sure there are other ways to achieve what you want with different naming convention - it is up to you but you cannot add another Media Kind like Home Video

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

i just figured the problem and has nothing to do with changing those integers. in the audio MIDI setting (app in utilities folder) for the c920 make sure the format is set to 24000hz, and it will finally work. if its set to 16000hz or 32000hz it wont work. i actually went backand put the integer settings to its original settings. 24integer for mac and 16 for c920.
