Has it worked in the past? What country? What carrier? Have you contacted the carrier to make sure they are not having an outage and that your account is active and current? Have you tried resetting the phone?

THE TOWN IS WILLIAMSVILLE NY. THE  ZIP CODE IS 14221. ACADEMY STREET, MILL STREET, SCHOOL ST, EAGLE ST all in zip code 14221. These phones are our ALL IN ONE phones. We don't have home phones. We can't call anyone while at home . THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE  VERIZON TOWER THAT SERVICES THIS AREA. PLEASE HELP!

        theroamer Having issues with signal is definitely not how we want you to experience wireless service. We take this very seriously because just like you I use my cell phone for everything and recently eliminated my home phone. I would love to help you with this issue, so lets get started. I show you are in an area that has great coverage. I do show multiple customers have reported issues in your area and a few weeks ago, it shows the issue was resolved. You advised that you cant get calls inside your home. Have you always had signal issues inside the home? If you step outside your door, can you make a call, send text, or access data related functions at all? Have you tried to power cycle the devices or perform a master reset. Before you rest the device, lets try a SIM card removal. Power the device off first and follow these steps http://tiny.cc/2gn6yw . This will reconnect you with the towers. You should have your wife and friend perform the same steps. If you continue to have the issues, try performing the hard reset http://tiny.cc/9in6yw . Make sure all information is backed up first.     All- I get this message ("iPhone can not make or receive calls. Cycling phone on/off does not help.  Ignoring message causes phone to cycle off then on.  After first time this happened, I restored.  Six days later...same problem!  Clearly a new fix is necessary.  Suggestions? 

    I have not tried that...I will look up the process so that I can do it correctly (and still transfer all of my files, contacts, etc).  Any suggestions?  What is the advantage of restoring as a new device..is this more akin to a complete wipe of a hard drive?

    I bought this cheap from an unknown persons. I have checked it is not in blacklist. And unlocked by apple.

    Those are all carrier features, so contact your cell phone provider.

    settings>cellular>turn cellular data off>wait 10 seconds>then turn it back on and test
    if that fail
    settings>general>reset>reset network settings

    Yeah, u're right. It's nothing to do with iTunes.
    I never connect my iPhone 4 with PC, still problem comes back.
    I've asked my telco to check the prob, they said they never change anything.
    1 more testing is mayb the cellular data is off.
    I'm now letting it on to test will the problem come back or not...
    So do u switch ur Cellular Data off? Any1 one o u that is having this same prob?

    Thank you both. I just had a chat with VZW support, and there seems to be an issue in the area.  I would think the SIM card solution would work if it were just one phone, however, both my phone and my wife's have the same issue.

    I can't make or receive calls on my IPhone 4.  There's nothing but dead air on both ends and then it freezes.  If I can answer a call, it lasts for a few seconds then gets staticky and cuts out.  I took it to Verizon and they couldn't get it to work either.

    If Verizon, who actually had your phone in hand, was unable to get it to work, what makes you think that we users here, who have no access to your phone, could help?  You need to bring your phone to the experts who can actually run diagnostics on the phone, and that is Apple.

    Same problem and I just called Sprint to get it fixed.
    They had me go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    After that they gave me a number to call (##numbers##) that i dont remember and isn't in my phone but after that a message popped up saying cellular reset failed but my phone started working again anyway.
    I would maybe try reseting the network settings and if that doesnt work then call sprint and they can fix ya up pretty quick.

    You can use a service like Skype.  Download the (free) Skype app from the App Store and see if that meets your needs.
    I have no financial or any other interest in Skype.  I am a Skype customer on my Mac.

    Have you tried rebooting the phone?  Also maybe removing and reinstalling the sim card?  Make sure your not in airplane mode or check under settings -- general --cellular and see whats turned on or off.

    If the carrier cannot help you, then I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the hardware checked. I really do not believe it is the hardware.
    You could try a restore before going to the Apple Store. Make sure you have a backup of the phone and restore the device as new. After activation is complete, see if you can make a call. If it is possible, then restore your backup to recover your content and test again. If it fails, then it is a problem with your backup. If neither works, and the carrier cannot help, then make the appointment.
