I can't manually add podcasts to my ipod classic...

I recently updated my itunes to the newest version. Since then, for no apparent reason, I've not been able to manually add podcasts to my ipod (which is an ipod classic 80GB 6th gen). I can sync all podcasts from my itunes but this is extremely inconvenient for me, as I don't have much space on my computer to store all the music podcasts I want to keep. I have checked for updates and scanned my ipod, neither has shown anything up...
PLEASE HELP!!

Presumably, since you were manually managing, you were not using Sync to manage your Podcasts prior to the update. Check the Podcasts pane of the device (when the iPod is connected to iTunes, look on the Podcast pane/tab), you should notice that the *Sync Podcasts* is turned on, which will prevent you from using manually manage. So turn it off.

  • Can not manually add podcast to iPod, help?

When I'm in the iTunes (4.5) podcast library it does not manually let me drag ones I have downloaded to my iPod podcast list. What do I need to do to make this work? and I do have it set to manual...

Note the that iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.
You can copy media from the iPod to the your computer by:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
However the greyed songs may be corrupted files and may not be recoverable.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Can I manually add videos to my iPod and remove them from my Powerbook?

    Greetings,
First of all, I wish everyone a merry christmas and a good new year.
I love my new iPod 5G, and have been copying plenty of videos. Sadly this has resulted in the depletion of hard disk space on my Powerbook. I was wondering if I could manually update the videos like you can do so with songs so that the videos remain on the iPod and not on the Powerbook.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks.

Thank you and happy holidays to you also.
First, burn the movies to data disk as a means to back up all of your movies, music, etc. Then transfer them to the iPod & you can delete them from the PB. Make sure you go into your Preferences and set the iPod to "manually manage songs & playlists" first so that when you next sync you won't accidently delete the iPod contents.

  • I can no longer download podcasts on my iPod classic.

How do I do this without being able to install the ap?

Have you checked to make sure the Sync Podcasts option is still set the way you want?
Not sure what you mean by "installing the ap".

  • Can not manually sync podcasts

I prefer to manually sync everything on my 3G iPod (music, podcasts, etc).
Since updating to iTunes 7, it appears I can not manually copy podcasts to my iPod. It only appears to load podcasts if I choose the Sync option in iTunes.
Not exactly my idea on manually managing my library.

I find the same to be true for me, and it's really frustrating. I used to be able to sync by checking the little boxes next to the episodes I wanted, choose to only update those selected, played or unplayed, and update worked fine. Now that choice is gone, replaced by "last 10" or last 10 unplayed" etc. There is a knowledge base document:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/7.0/en/900.html
    that states:
"To load podcasts onto your iPod manually, deselect Sync and drag podcasts or podcast episodes from your Podcasts playlist to the iPod icon in the iTunes window (below Devices). "
This functionality doesn't function in 7.0. Maybe in 7.0.1????? How soon???????
    OK! OK! TIME OUT!
Last night I tried the dragging action, but with no apparent results. But somehow, 419 "songs" appeared on my iPod from nowhere, and I couldn't seem to determine where they were. duh! So now, I just tried going into the song list by Genre to podcast, and, lo and behold, there are all the missing podcasts I dragged there! but they don't show up in tyhe normal podcast area. I need to go home from work, reconnect the iPod to the Mac, and determine where they are. I'll update here when I do find out!!!!!

  • Is it possible to manually add podcasts to the podcast section of an iphone

    Hello everyone.
I've been trying to figure out a way to manually add podcasts to my iphone and have them show up in the podcast section. I can add podcasts fine to the music section, that works and they play fine but they can be hard to find amid the thousands of songs I have.
When I try to manually add podcasts to the podcasts section in itunes, I get the sad red circle with a line through it, instead of the happy blue plus sign that I get when I add podcasts to the music section.
Podcasts that I download are classified correctly, but the ones I want to add can't be downloaded anywhere anymore (licensing restrictions I believe).
Am doing something wrong or is this the way itunes is meant to work? Something misconfigured maybe?
I'm using itunes 7.6.2.9 on Vista.

For some reason known only to Apple, only files downloaded through iTunes can be in the podcast section of iPod. As far as I know there is still no supported way around this.
Occassionaly someone reports getting around issue by manually editing the file using a hex editor. This involves comparing iTunes downloaded file with non-iTunes downloaded file to find the difference. Once found, the equivalent setting in other files can be changed. I have never done it though.

  • Unable to manually add podcasts or TV shows

I am unable to manually add podcasts or TV shows to my 5.5G iPod. I have restored the iPod, thrown out the com.apple.ipod.plist, switched from sync to no sync, it makes no difference. I cannot drag Podcasts or TV shows from my iTunes list to my iPod in the device menu. It just won't accept them. The iTunes help document specifically says that I should be able to do this. They only way I can get podcasts or shows onto the iPod is to sync them, which doesn't let me put the specific episodes that I want on my iPod. I have my music set to sync, which is what I want. Is this a known bug? Any thoughts? I'm using iTunes 7.7. I have no problem dragging individual files to my iPhone.

They only way I can get podcasts or shows onto the iPod is to sync them, which doesn't let me put the specific episodes that I want on my iPod.
It does if you choose "selected podcasts" or "selected TV shows" in your preferences within the summary screen.
I have my music set to sync,
If you have chosen to auto sync your music, you cannot drag and drop other content such as Podcasts or TV shows to the iPod.

  • Manually add Podcasts to your Podcast directory/group

I subscribed to several podcasts but i noticed that the older files are no longer in the download list (which is simply stupid) so i was wondering if there is ANY way to add some old files, that were not downloaded with itunes, to the Podcast listing.
I mean that would be a great feature! that way i can always have my Podcasts with all the episodes and everytime i wish to listen/watch the episode again i can do it with no problem!
So please if it's not possible give it a try and make itunes better by intalling this feature! thks!
btw if you could also make the podcast files NOT to show up under 'Music - Artists - «Name of the podcast» - «Podcast Files»' nor under albums nor songs cause its not a song, but a podcast! thks

How can I STOP iTunes from automatically trying to add podcasts to my iPod when I plug it in and sync it, so I can manage the files? I have already unchecked "Sync Podcasts" and "Automatically include,"yet EVERY time I sync it,it still transfers podcasts as the last step, and at other times randomly, when trying to just add some MP3's to a playlist, for example.  I can't seem to find any other option to uncheck, and can't find an answer from my so-far internet searching.

erict, you blew me away with that suggestion! It was something so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt thought of it! But in the end it didn't work, which I was really surprised about. On Windows anytime anything was moved itunes was hoplessly lost, but on this mac it still kept up with everything. I tried renaming folders, moving folders, and even renaming moved folders but it still kept trying to import.
I even went as far as deleting EVERYTHING i had moved to the Mac, which didnt really work. It still kept trying to import what wasnt there which made it continue to freeze up. However, after doing this it, the freezing was not nearly as bad. It gave me enough of a break to cancel it through the itunes dialog box at the top of the app. So in the end, thats all I really needed to do, only before I had deleted everything the freezing would not allow me to do it.
So now Im reimporting everything again, only slowly, and only a few Artists at a time.

  • Can you manually add data to Nike + or do you need to use the Nano?

Can you manually add data to Nike + or do you need to use the Nano?
What if you are on a trip and forgot your Ipod. It would be great to be able to add lost data. or even edit the Ipod data on the Nike + website

    Hi Hrbrmstr,
That will be very cool if you can create an xml file
that will allow us to add runs and edit runs on the
Nike+ site! The trick may be getting past the server
dragon which sends out a warning saying, "Your
workout data could not be sent to nikeplus.com
because the data could not be accepted by the server"
when it does not like the data it is sent.
For example, my runs that did not post had something
in common: when I read these xml files with TextEdit,
both have a line that says,
    "<stepCounts><walkBegin>0</walkBegin>". There's also
a line that tracks steps run. It also said zero. Of
course, these lines should NOT read zero, because I
was not starting at zero steps! My guess is that this
anomaly makes the Nike+ server either reject or
delete these runs because the step count does not fit
    my other runs.
Well, I'll leave this stuff to someone who knows more
    than I. Glad you're here.
For jackt123, the longer is answer to your question
is that certain things that are not doable now may be
doable in the future. Stay tuned.
I just got the dragon today. "Your workout data could not be sent to Nikeplus because iTunes received an unexpected response from the server. Please try again later." Did you ever find out why this happened to you? I went on nikeplus and it did in fact upload my latest run. Now my goals are blank on nikeplus.

  • Why can't I add songs to my iPod Touch 8GB 4th Gen?

I had an issue with songs being present on my iPod, yet the artists would not appear under "Artists". So I turned off "Group by Album Artist" in Settings and the problem was solved. However, and I don't know of that's the cause of the issue, I can no longer add song to my iPod. I add them manually, and when I do, I see them in gray under "Music" on iTunes with the sync logo next to then as if they're still being updated to the iPod. Yet they never do.

What happens when you try to sync tracks to it via iTunes? Any error messages?  Does the iPod still appear under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes when you connect it via USB?
How is your iPod configured to sync with your library? In other words, what options and settings do you have in place from under the iPod's Summary and Music configuration tabs in iTunes?

  • Why I can't continue add photos into my iPod ???

I don't know why I can't continue add photos into my iPod. For example, I already had some photos in my iPod and I can see the folder that contains all the photos in my iPod with a mark on it. But one think that I don't know is when I want to add more photos into my iPod, iTune will sync my iPod for a very long moment and there's no processing indication, it's like there was a message 'Syncing iPod' that show in the top of the iTune screen, but there was no 'processing bar' under it. I don't know why this happen. Do I have to erase all the photos that were currently in my iPod and the iPod Photo Cache located in My Photos to re-upload the new photos into my iPod? But in this situation, I couldn't leave the 'old photos'in my iPod. I just want to make a hudge photos library, COULD ANY GENIUS HELP ME ?

i don't know if this will help but this is how i manage my photos:
    1. create a folder (mine is called 'ipod photos')
    2. put all the photos you want on your ipod in that folder
    3. open itunes, plug in your ipod.
    4. on the overview screen, click the photos tab
    5. check the, 'sync photos from' box.
    6. browse to the folder you want to sync with
    7. hit sync
then when i want to add new photos, i just add them to that folder and hit sync again.

  • Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?

I have an Apple, IPOD, NANO, purchased in 2009:
Problem: I would like to have a Podcast Playlist sort podcast episodes from oldest to newest broadcast date; I have done so on my P.C. based ITunes player and have synced same to my IPOD NANO; however, when I do so the podcasts on my IPOD NANO are not sorted from oldest to newest; rather, from newest to oldest.
Question Summary: Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?
    Thanks / Ed

You can try changing the the password for your iCloud account that may work.
Otherwise you will have to get him to sign out of Messages by go to Settings>Messages>Send and receive and tap your Apple ID and then tap signout.

I can't transfer old podcasts from my ipod to my iTunes library

What happens when you try to transfer them from the iPod back to your iTunes library?  Are these podcasts you originally downloaded from the iTunes Store or were they imported from outside of iTunes?
