I can't not link my mac to my iPad or iPhone with iCloud.

I can't seem to have my mac linked via icloud to my ios devices. When I buy a song on my ipad, it will imediately show up on my iphone and vice versa. However, nothing shows up on my mac itunes. As well, if I buy a song through itunes on my mac, nothing shows up on either of the ios devices. I have icloud turned on on my mac. I've check and triple checked all the settings and all seem to be correct. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Launch iTunes on your Mac.
From the menu bar click iTunes > Preferences then select the Store icon.
Select Music, Apps, or Books, then click OK.

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over. See if there are duplicates, should be one for Incoming & one for Outgoing.

If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.

I think iCloud isn't coming until this fall and not until iOS 5 is publicly available. Right now there is confusion because all this stuff is still in beta and things are under NDA and may still change.
I'd just set the 3GS up the same as currently. When iOS 5 is available in the fall (and I don't think Apple has specified beyond "fall"), before you update, there should be any number of guides to setting things up and how it will all work. http://macworld.com is a good place to look for such information.

Syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with an iCloud account has nothing to do with syncing with iTunes.
On your iPhone go to Settings > iCloud.
If Contacts is turned on for over the air syncing, turn it off. A warning message and prompt will be provided asking about what to do with the previously synced contacts with iCloud. Select Delete from iPhone. After all contacts are deleted from your iPhone, turn Contacts back on for over the air syncing. After all contacts are downloaded, confirm the contacts on your iPhone match your online contacts with iCloud.
If so, repeat this with your iPad.

If you were using iCloud or MobileMe they should be in the Mail application on your Mac.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your best method would be to connect via USB and transfer that way, since videos are not transferred using photostream.
However you can stop photos on your mac being added to photostream in the iPhoto preferences > photostream by unchecking the automatic upload box.

Sorry, no. Different operating systems. You'll need to look in the app store to find an office program. If you already have a mac, then you may want to look for Pages, or I have a PC and use office and like Documents to go.

If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
