I can't open a project I have worked on.

It's an "iMovie Project" file (273MB), I managed to save it to my desktop, but can't seem to open it on
iMovie.
(I never exported it and would like to do that now).
Any help would be much appreciated!

If you go to this forum's Content tab and type "ticktime.cpp-207" in the "Type to filter by text" box, you'll get a few hits.
FYI, at least one issue that could lead to this problem was fixed in CC7.0.

how can I open a project made in late 2000 on Final Cut Pro to migrate it to a new version to finish editing it? files, timeline and unfinished edit are all stored on hard drive since early 2001, with all the original miniDV tapes still in hand

Do you still have legacy FCP? If you not you need to find someone who will open the project in FCP6.0.6 or later. Export an XML file of the project. Use 7toX to convert it to an XML format that works with FCPX. Import the converted XML file to FCP.

  • Old Logic + a new Mac = can't open old projects anymore. De/re-install?

    Hi everybody,
maybe someone can advise me with this problem:
I bought a new Mac recently, did install a fresh OSX 10.5 and then used migration assistant to transfer my old user account from my old Mac (10.4), incl. all files. It did take a night, but it worked - or so I thought. Actually all applications work as they should, except for Logic. I had to re-authorize a few plug-ins, but then all seemed to be cool. I can open a new project, record audio, midi, add plug-ins, all cool. But I ended up with 3 problems, which are really annoying:
    1) EXS24 couldn't find most of the samples anymore. Most, not all. I have 4 internal HDs, one for the system, one for audio recordings, one for samples, one for "other stuff". 2 of these disks came from the old Mac, 2 new ones, content copied from old Mac. In the EXS prefs I set "search for samples" to "all volumes", but it still didn't work perfectly. Finally I bought EXSManager Pro and now it seems to work again. I didn't try ALL samples yet, but the +/- 20 EXS instruments I tried, did load all samples.
    2) Space Designer doesn't load impulse responses for the presets anymore. They're there and at the right place. I can load SD and import an existing impulse file, no problem. But the presets don't find the required files anymore.
    3) Now - and this is the worst one - I can't open old projects anymore. I just can't. It starts loading, I see the rainbow thing (don't know the right word), it turns black & white and that's it. You can watch this forever and nothing happens.
    Regarding all 3 issues:
I don't get any error messages. Logic doesn't crash, I can't click 'apple-.' to stop loading/searching. It just doesn't open the file. I had a coffee, a pizza, I let it try for 2 hrs+, but neither did it load a SD preset or an old song file. All I can do is manually quit Logic.
But when I open Logic with the CTRL-button down and click "no" to core audio I can open all songs. Of course I can not hear a tone then, but it's all there. Opening a song takes 3 secs then. I tried to safe a song then with a different name, re-started Logic with core audio but same result. It get's "stuck".
Of course I checked user permissions and all the usual trouble shooting clicks, but still Logic has a mind of it's own. I installed a 2nd user with admin rights, though still the same, plus all the 3rd party plug-ins refusing to work.
Now I was thinking, should I de-install Logic and re-install from the original CDs maybe. And if so, is there anything special I have to take care of? Like manually removing any prefs or cache files?
Or completely re-install the whole Mac? (pleeease no....)...
If anybody has any idea, it'd be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance and for the energy to read my little novel here,
    cheers,
    Joern

Ok, either my question was too long or nobody seems to have an answer. Sad, either way
Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
Two questions, every idea would be great!
    - Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
    - Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?
    Thank you again,
    Joern

  • Can I Open RH5 project file in RH10?

I don't like registration of all kinds until I took an RH arrow in the knee. XDD
    Here's my scenario:
My colleague created a project in RH5 long time ago and now she's handing over the project to me.
I copied the whole robo source files folder to my local disk and tried to open it in RH10. Then error saying .cpd file might be corrupt so that RH cannot load the data from the database. I know .cpd file is the cache file for a RH project, right? It's created/overwritten every time you open the RH project. Then I figured, maybe I should delete the .cpd file(as it might be created in RH5 in her machine) before I open it in RH10?
Also, I've tried to open the same project file in RH5(I have RH5 and RH10 installed in the same OS:Win 7). It worked for the first time, with lots of errors of broken links and reference links but failed for the second time, right after I opened that project in RH10. (You might will want to doubt if RH5 is executable in Win 7, I thought it should be but it turned out it is, which is amazing...)
    So..here're the questions:
    1. Do RH5 and RH10 coexist in Win 7?  Some said they don't..
    2. Should I delete the .cpd file created in lower version of RH before I open the project created in RH of lower version(say, RH5) in RH of higher version(in this case, RH10)?
    3. Can RH10 open the project created in RH5? I know the project created in RH of lower version will be converted in some way when it's opened in RH of higher version. Anyone practiced this successfully?
    Thank you!

It proves that X5 can be opened. It does not prove it will work properly in all respects. Also webhelp will likely have issues with some browsers. In other words and to answer your question, both can be on the same machine but that does not mean both will work as designed.
Rh8 could be used with Windows 7 when Rh8 was released, except bits broke until it was patched so the chances of X5 are rather low.
MS Access is not needed on your machine as the CPD is a runtime database. There's no point messing with it, leave Rh to recreate it.

This appears when I'm copying a file to the drive and then I wasn't able to edit to my drive.
Then this morning I can't open my project file.  I get this message: The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened.

I  have moved my project onto 2 different external hard-drives now.

    Hi There,
After looking around for this error, it seems to be related to OS, we would recommend you to contact Apple support for this.

  • Can't open a project who has a merged clip in it

I have 2 Macs using Premiere Pro CC, same version. On one of my 2 Mac, i can't open any project who has merged clips in it. It shows this error message. : "this project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with thi sequence type". It shows this even if there is no sequence in the project. It happens only if i have a merged clip. it could even be a merged audio clip. What can i do?

    Hello Spadrille,
It sounds like your application is not activated. Try this: Open a new project in Premiere Pro. Choose Help > Decativate > Restart Premiere Pro. Then choose Help > Activate. See if that solves your problem.
    Thanks,

  • How can I open other projects?

I want to open projects, which ı download in planetsourcecode.com in netbeans or in Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8.1.
The problem is that open dialog of JSE or netbeans looks for a directory. And if I try to open the directory which I have downloaded, it doesnt open the project. I tried to do same with my project (made in netbeans) and there was a small sign bottom of the directory icon. And it opened project succesfully. How can I open other projects?

Probably best to firstly copy the media folder - you could Option/drag it to the desktop. Then open a new project and go File/Import that desktop folder.
Let us know if that works out for you.

  • Premier Element 8 can't open any project on Windows 7

Once again my Premier Element 8 can't open any project on Windows  7 (64-bit).  This  is same problem that happened to me 6 months ago.  I reported it to the online  Adobe support, but got no help.  Eventually I worked around it on my  own.  Now the problem is back and I can not open any project, even after  rebooting.  The behavour that I see is that I can open a new or old  project, but the Premier window shows-up as having zero size.  The bug  has something to do with the Premier program thinking that the window  size should be zero.  The program shows-up in the active task list, and  the Alt-Tab key shows Premier window has only a window title bar (where  as other active programs show-up as a thumbnail image of their window  contents), and the system taskbar also shows the Premier program as active but only as a window title bar (see attached image below)
When  I reported to the online Adobe support forum 6 months ago that I had worked around  the problem, the answer was something like "good that you fix it", BUT Adobe  did not seem to be interested in understanding and fixing the problem.  They just seem relieved when customers can figure-out work-around on  their own.  I see that another peron just reported this same problem on the Adobe forums, and got the same treatment.  He also found a work-around, and the support person replied when "that's nice".  This really bites me where it hurts.  I'm burning  non-productive hours because of their bugs, and they don't care enough  about the bugs to get engineering to fix them.  It's things like this  that make me look for another software vendor.
But today I really do need to work on my video project.  If there is a document work-around for the "Premier show a zero-sized window" bug, PLEASE let me know about it.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,
    -- Ole Pa

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for looking at this on Saturday, and for your question.  What I mean by a "zero sized window" is that Premier's window has been created and the program is running, but when I give Premier focus nothing is shown on the screen.  I know the program is running because I can see it on the Windows taskbar, in the Alt-Tab list, and in the task manager's list of running programs.  When I use the Windows taskbar to alternately show and hide the window, it behaves normally, except when I show it nothing shows on the screen.  Also, when Premier starts up, I do see it loading the project, but when the project loads the window disappears. Premier has this annoying design of starting with its window maximized, and then automatically resizing the window to what it thinks is the size that I want.  When the bug is active, the size seems to be zero, or minimized, or off the screen, or who knows what.  Just not anything that I can see.  The little thumbnail that Windows 7 shows of running programs on the taskbar makes be think the window has been resized so that it is zero pixels wide and zero pixels high.
In my earlier report of this bug, I described it as "minimizing to the taskbar" because that is what it appeared to doing at that time.  Here is a link to my earlier report:
       http://forums.adobe.com/thread/704857
That thread has screen snapshots that show the visual atrifacts of the bug on Windows 7.  I experienced the same bug again this morning.  The workaround that I had done last year did not work this morning.  Here is what I did to recover this time:
Uninstalled Premier Elements 8.  Deleted my personal setting, and also "smart sound".
    Rebooted my PC.
Installed Premier Element 8 from the CD.
    Rebooted my PC
Things were still not quite right.  In fact the bug appeared to still be there, but all of a sudden it started showing me the window after the project was loaded.  Sigh.  I will never launch that little startup program again (the one behind the desktop icon), and only open ".prel" files directly.  Not sure if that will help or not, but at least it takes one variable out of the startup procedure.
I wish that I could tell you how to reproduce the bug, but in fact I do not know what I do to provoke it.  My PC is
    - Dell XPS9000 (Intel i7, 3.33GHz, 12GB ram, 4.5 TB disk)
    - Windows 7 Ultimate
    - Two 24 inch LCD displays
    - Runs several Adobe programs (like PS, LR, Acrobat).
Don't get me wrong:  I love Adobe software.  You are the best in the graphic arts industry.  That's why I buy and run your stuff.  But when I have a deadline hanging over my head, and I have to spend 1/2 day getting the software to just come up, I get crazy and want to herd feed animals for a living!  Maybe I'll have to do that if the economy does not improve in 2011...
    Thanks, Ole Pa

  • Premiere Elements 8 can't open any project

    Hello,
I am running Premiere Elements 8 (fully-paid version) and trying to open a project which I created last night.  But I'm finding I can't open any project.  On the welcome screen, when I click on "Open Project", I get a pull-down menu (as expected):
But no matter what option I select (even "Open..."), I get the same result:  The "Open Project" button turns into a wait-bar for a minute or two:
...and then "Open Project" simply reappears without anything else happening.
I also tried a different approach, going to the .prel file in Windows and double-clicking it.  But again, nothing happened.
My PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium.  The hardware is a 64-bit, HP p6310y with an AMD Athlon II X4 630 processor, 2.8 GHz, with 6 GB of RAM.
    Any suggestions?

  • Can't open my project, after Animate crashed

    Hi!
After Animate crashed with error, I can't open my project. I have the following error message, when trying to open it:
"Loading Failed, please check your page for JavaScript errors".
    I'm using Animate v.2014.1 under Win7.
Does anybody knows, how to deal with it, and restore my files?
    Thanks!

As far as I can see, EA doesn't allow the user to create items with the same name. If you try to create an identical name, for instance in renaming, it reverts to the previous name.
So how in the world can this even happen?
And so how can I correctly comb the code to fix it?

I have a MacBook pro version 10.6.7 with snow leopard. After an scheduled software upgrade I could not open Quicken (It said it could not open the files). Now I can only open it if I have my external drive on. Can you help?
All the information that I had input on Quicken is gone. I have to have the external hard drive that I use to back up to be able to use quicken now. It is as if it was erased from the laptop hardrive

Try repairing permissions. My favorite way is with a utility called AppleJack. Info and download here. It's free. It only works when you boot in Single User Mode. When restarting or booting, hold down the Command key and S keys.
You will get a very different startup screen that looks like the Terminal app has hijacked the screen. Just let the lines of text scroll by. When that happens you will get a text entry prompt. Type in "AppleJack" without the quotation marks.
A DOS looking menu will appear. Choose 1 or d to run Disk Repair. If you get a message that Disk Repair found and corrected errors, run it again. Repeat until you get the "your disk appears to be ok" message. This rarely happens with my experience, though. This does the same thing as as booting from an external drive and running Disk Utility's repair. Only, no external drive is required!
Next, choose 2 or p to repair disk permissions. This will take a little while. AppleJack warns that it will take up to an half hour to run repair permissions. It'n never taken more than about ten minutes for my MacBook Pro.
As permissions are repaired, you will see each repair scroll on the screen. When done, the menu returns, choose q to quit. Then at the prompt, enter "exit" without the quotes. Your MacBook Pro should restart into Mac OS normally after this.
    Hope this helps.
