Before trying to answer, I wish to check if you are really running under 10.4.11 and in this case, which is the exact application's version in use.

After installing AdBlock Plus I can't quit Firefox without force quitting - help!
I installed Adblock plus and immediately noticed several issues.
It took forever to bypass the NY Times opening ad and get to the real front page - troublesome, and time-consuming but at least I avoided the ad.
More importantly, I couldn't quit Firefox without force quitting. If I used Command Q or selected Quit Firefox from the menu, I got the spinning beachball of death.
When I disabled Adblock, the problem persisted. When I uninstalled Adblock Plus the problem was resolved and I could quit Ff in my usual manner.
Any solutions here or do I just forget about Adblock Plus - too bad, it seems like a great idea even though it slowed down NYT (it was faster just hitting the skip ad button after I uninstalled Adblock Plus)Problem solved.
Trashed folder for Adblock Plus and reinstalled.
Disabled Status-4-Evar and Adblock Plus works and I don't have to force quit to get out of Firefox. -
S.O.S. PLEASE!!!! I can't open my FCP X project after done a force quit!
I've been working for 10 days in a project I must deliver tomorrow to a broadcast TV and I had to force quit the FCP X.
Then...now, when I tried to open my project it simply the program doesn't open,
When I remove this project from the FCPro project's folder the final cut opens well...but when I put the project back into the projects folder FCPro X doesn't open
I need heplp!!!!Not sure this will make a difference, but give it a go.
1. Try trashing the preferences.
2. Making sure FCPX is closed, move the project from the projects folder in finder, restart FCPX and while it's still running, try dragging the project back to the projects folder.
Like I said not sure it will make any difference, but worth trying anything at times lime this. -
Can't Open Another File; Can't Exit
Since installing CS6 I'm unable to open a second Premiere Pro project. When I try nothing happens. I.e., I already have one project open and then I go to File -> Open Recent Project and then select one of my recent projects. The same thing happens if I use File -> Open and then pick a project in the Project Open dialog. When this happens I also am unable to close the current project or even exit from Premiere Pro. The only way to exit the app is to kill it with Windows Task Manager.
If I then try to open the recent project that I previously was unable to open then it works fine. But I'm stuck again as far as opening any other projects or even quitting the app. Curiously, if I want to continue working on the same file Premiere Pro seems to continue working OK.
What's going on here? Is there a fix?

lots of free disk space on every driveI found a workaround in case anyone else encounters this problem: simply run Premiere Pro as Administrator. In the Start menu right-click on Premiere Pro and do Run as Administrator. (This is for Windows.) Unfortunately, this causes a UAC dialog every time you run PPro but at least it works.
To simplify the process for the future right-click and do Pin to Start Menu. Then, right-click on Premiere Pro in the Start Menu and do Properties --> Compatibility --> Run this program as administrator. Finally, to simplify even more, after doing the previous step, right-click on PPro and do Pin to Taskbar. -
Can't open master templates in FCP
I have FCP-2 version 2. When I open master templates in FCP all I get are empty frames and nothing in the viewer. Even after rendering everything is black. If I go into motion and create there and click "Save as template" the same problem. So far all I can do is save my creation as a quicktime movie...is there another way?

Indeed. We've been trying to use an HD-Connect SI box in conjunction with a Decklink HD Extream card to import 720/50p but it's been a nightmare. So when FCP 6.0.2 was released (As they promised back in October at the IBC) we were over the moon that it supported 720/50p. But as I mentioned, now Motion, Compressor and FCP are all playing up. I haven't even looked at DVD Studio yet.
I'm doing a complete reinstall of FCS 2 as I've got to get on. Incidentally I have been searching for a comprehensive way to uninstall FCP?
Anyway, with FCS 2 back to it's original version at least I can keep working, the 720/50p footage will have to wait, unless there's a fix for the bugs?

My iTunes won't update on my computer. I have windows vista. I can open up itunes and when I click on "check for updates" it asks if I want to download iTunes version 11.1.5 and I click "Download iTunes" but then nothing happens. Sometimes uptop the loading bar will appear but for only a split second. I have tried restarting, shutting down, I cannot figure out why it won't download. What's happening and how do I fix it?
Try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

When opening the version of Iphoto i have an error message appears that says; You can't open your current iphoto library using this version of Iphoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iphoto. What? If I can't open the current library using the latest version of iphoto, and I am asked to make changes the the newest version!!! I'm asked to run in circles chasing my tail...I had a new hard drive installed about 6 weeks ago. I am running MAC OS 10.5.8
What version of iPhoto do you have? If you're on 10.5 then you're not running the latest iPhoto
Any chance that the library was opened with another version?
Simplest solution will be to just restore from your back up. -

Opening iphoto I get an error message that says "you can't open your current photo library using this version of iphoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iphoto." I wouldn't have a clue as to how to change to a new version of iphoto even if I wanted to.
If you don't have a backup you can resort to give this a try:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 110 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

You can add the icon of the missing Pages on your Dock or open Pages from the Apple menu > Recent Items list.
Or you can archive Pages 5 so that it doesn't automatically open.

I can't open PDF files, can't open, update, or download Adobe Reader. (I had it until recently.) None of the "helps" seem to help. I can't even open Adobe Reader now.
Ignore the instructions about "edit options", to install Adobe Reader download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and run the installer. Alternatively, a direct link for the latest version of Adobe Reader is:

Try to Reset your device:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first). -
Camera Raw will not install on my mac,os 10.7.5. When I click on the install package the main install screen opens and that is as far as I can proceed with the down load. I have to force quit the software and try again. I have deleted and downloaded the software several times to no avail. I need some help.
Appreciate your help Ian and others. I have since uninstalled FCS and reinstalled FCXP only to get the same thing. Loading FCXP stalls at "Looking for Compressor Support". When I first downloaded FCXP from the App store I didn't notice that FCS was being placed in it's own folder. It's not something I did manually. Although moved into it's own folder with FCXP on the same drive. I was not able to open FCS apps. They would load and then "quit unexpectantly". They opened just fine before I downloaded FCXP. Do I need to purchase Compressor so that FCXP recognizes it? It seems this is where it stalls. It doesn't explain however why my computer "FREEZES" while doing this. I am in the process of re-installing Lion to see if this helps, otherwise I am at a complete loss.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
