I can't open Captivate 8 (64x)

i install captivate8 (64x) and i can't open it
it running in Splash Screen and don't have anything
freeze Splash Screen with word " Loading "

Welcome to Adobe Forums !
This issue could be because of corrupt fonts .
Please go to C:\Windows\Fonts and select all of the fonts and move the selected fonts to a temporary folder on the desktop.
After taking the backup go back to that location again and try removing all third party fonts from your machine and keeping only the Fonts used by your OS.
After this try Captivate again and see if it works for you.

Can't open Captivate 6.0 subscription and can't upgrade to Captivate 7.0

I just tried to open Captivate 6.0 and it is asking me to license the software, per usual. I'm on subscription. Normally clicking the License This Software button logs me in with my user account. Because of the upgrade to 7.0, it now stops at a page requiring a serial number.
I can't upgrade to 7.0 because I am on 10.6.8 (Mac) and that's as high as I can get on OS because of my MacBook version.
WTF Adobe??? I have a deadline of tomorrow and need to use your software -- which I have paid for!!!
Have been on hold waiting for Adobe Captivate product team for 55 minutes (and going) now.
You guys had better sort this out. This is ridiculous!
Also... backwards compatability is kind of essential. i.e., saving a Captivate file to a previous version so that co-worker, client, etc can open it if they have a previous version (even InDesign has this... not as easy as Photoshop or Illustrator, but you can still do it at least). Can you please make that a high priority??? Thank you.

Can't open Captivate file!

Oh my gosh! You won't believe it! I made all kinds of cool changes, but now I can't open the file. HELP! I have a back-up of the file, but not with the cool changes. Here is the error I get when I try to open it:
Adobe Captivate could not open "the file name". Ensure that:
- The file is not open already (it isn't)
- The file is not damaged. For example, if the file was an email attachment (it wasn't), ensure that you have decoded the file correctly.
- The hard disk has sufficient available space. (probably does, it opened before)
- The system has sufficient resources. To optimize the resources, close all the other open applications (I have)
What now? I'd hate to think that the last 8 hours of work has been wasted. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

the last time you worked on it, did captivate exit the file strangely? Crash? End Task in the Task Manager (Windows)?
When Cp opens a project file it creates a hidden file that 'locks' the file so no one else can open it. When you close the project, it removes the file. The message you're describing can come up when that file doesn't get removed when Captivate closes. It can also be all those scary things mentioned there.
If you go to the folder options you can 'show hidden files' and remove it manually IF that is really the problem. Make sure you're not running two isntances of captivate and that no one else is working on the file (if it's in a network location) before doing anything.
That message can also come up when a file is created in say Cp 5.5 and you try to open it with Cp5. They're not backwards compatible.

Can't open captivate 3 project in Captivate 4

Installed Captivate 4. Captivate 3 still installed (don't
want to delte it until I know Captivate 4 works). I open Captivate
4 and browse to open a project created in Captivate 3. I get a
'Can't open file' message with the error code -2147286928.

Silly question for you. The project you are attempting to
open in C4 isn't by chance still open in C3 is it?
I know there are issues adding a Captivate output to Robohelp
if the project is still open in Captivate which is what prompted me
to ask.

Can't open Captivate 6 project

I have a Captivate 6 project that when I try to open it, it get's to about 80% load and then the load box disappears and nothing opens. No error message. I have been developing the project on a network drive (I know.....not recommended).
Here's what I've tried so far in terms of solutions that haven't worked:
1. Rename the backup file and try loading that file
2. Move the project file and backup file to the C: drive and try loading from there
3. Clear the cache
I was able to restore to a previous night's file and that file opens ok but I lose 1 day work. Any ideas as to why I can't open my project? Thanks!

Thanks for your response Rod. Yes, I know, I'm a shameless developer who should have never done the lazy network route, but here I stand, begging for mercy from the e-learning Gods!
I now realize that clearing the cache is not the desired solution in this case but unfortunately I read that solution post after already committing the crime, so again, guilty I stand.
I may be pooched in this situation, but I am going to move my project to the C: drive and begin manually backing up. I'm just surprised that the native Adobe backup file solution wasn't helpful in my case.

Can't Open Captivate 3 Project in Captivate 2

I created a Captivate 3 movie and now I need to open and edit
it in Captivate 2 on a separate PC. When I try to open it I'm asked
if I want to Save As or Overwrite the file, odd for a file >
opening process. Regardless, I get a message back that the file is
unsupported or damaged. This occurs with two separate movies, so I
doubt that's the case.
Help!

Hi Mill Creek Guy and welcome to our community
Unfortunately, you cannot open Captivate projects from a
newer version in an older. The only path that works is when moving
from older to newer.
One possible way around this is by creating a totally fresh
blank project in Captivate 2 that is sized identically to the one
you created in 3. Then you open both Captivate 2 and Captivate 3 on
the same PC. Copy slides from the newer to the older. Of course, if
you used features of Captivate 3 that Captivate 2 doesn't know
about, you may see some odd behavior.

Can not open Captivate files in Dreamweaver

All files are in one folder - code attached

When the Captivate file was published, I selected the "Export
HTML" check box. I put both .swf files, the .cp file, and the .htm
file in the same folder. I can open the name_skin.swf file, but
it's just the skin. If I put the href file as the name.swf file, I
don't get the skin. If I use the name.htm file, I get a blank
screen.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you may be neglecting to include a very important
file. Its name?
standard.js
Try adding that one to the mix and see if you don't fare
better.

Can't open Captivate 6

I cannot get my Captivate 6 to load/open on my computer any more. It just stalls out and I have to use the tast manager to get out of it. This program was previously working. Can anyone help? Attempts have been made to uninstall and reinstall the program but they have not helped.

Thank you very much.
You might have installed any application that has fonts in other language with it or any other application on your system was updated or few fonts might have corrupted.
But do not worry as you still have Windows default fonts.
If you still want to find out which particular font or fonts are corrupted,then you can copy 4-5 fonts at a time from that folder which you saved to desktop and paste them to C:\Windows \ Fonts.
Then launch Captivate, if it launches fine, it means moved fonts are O.K.
Now, close captivate.
Then again go to Dektop > Fonts, copy other 4-5 fonts and move them to C:Windows\Fonts.
after a point where captivate will not launch, and will give you same splash screen, it means that recently copied 4-5 fonts or one of them is corrupted.

Can't open Captivate

I've been using Captivate 2 for a couple of months (off and
on) and suddenly this morning, Captivate won't open. I get a
message saying "Captivate has generated errors and must be closed
by windows. You must restart the program. An error log is being
created."
I uninstalled the program and reinstalled. Same problem. Any
ideas? Although I'm sure this is too complicated to do on here, I
thought I'd see if there was an easy answer to this first.

Thanks for all if your help. I was finally able to correct
the problem with the help of our IT department. We run from a
network here and apparently we use roaming profiles--I'm not techie
enough to know how this affects the program, but my profile got
messed up (that's what they think, anyway) and caused Captivate to
generate errors. After blowing away my profile completely and
starting from scratch, I was finally able to start up the program
again. I'm sorry I can't detail more about the program (due to my
lack of knowledge) but if you are working with networks and
experiencing this problem, check into your profile.

Can't open captivate 7 after installation

I just installed/unistall/reinstall Captivate 7 in my MacBook Pro (late 2013) and I am unable to open the app. What is going on? I need help.

Hi erpum,
Try right clicking on Captivate and select 'Run as Administrator' and check.
You might also want to reset the preferences and check
Close Captivate, delete or rename 'Captivate' folder, then restart Captivate.
Location : Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7
In case you still face issues then please follow the below mentioned basic troubleshooting steps :
> Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
> Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
> Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

Nope. But you might be lucky enough to find a download file for an earlier version and just install it as a 30 day trial to upgrade your older files. Captivate 5 through to 6 is what you'd need. A download or disc for any of those versions would get you by.

Forums 101: If you want us to actually see images, never Never NEVER attach them. Instead, use the camera icon to insert them.
As for the output files not opening on other PCs, were you certain that you copied ALL the files? Normally there are at least a SWF, HTM and JS file to copy. Depending on what you did with the project, there may be additional files to include.
As for the other machine, are you certain you are using the same Captivate version? You cannot open a CP4 file if you have CP3. Additionally, where is the project located? Local drive or network? If on the network, try moving the file to local drive.

It seems that you have only downloaded .exe file. You need to download two file .exe and .7z and put it in a same folder and then try to run .exe

Can't open Adobe Captivate 8 trial.

Can't open Adobe Captivate 8 trial. Error reads: The procedure entry point NormalizeString could not be located in the dynamic library link KERNEL32.dll. I'm into my trial and can't even get into the program.
Any thoughts or recommendations on how I can get through this and access the program. I've tried to download it a couple of different times and come up with the same error.

You need to launch Captivate as administrator. On Win this can be done by
right-clicking on the Captivate shortcut key, and either you choose 'Run as
Administrator' or you open Advanced dialog where you can set to launch
always as administrator.
