I can't open firefox - I've tried restarting the computer several times - I'm using Microsoft Essentials and this has happened since the last virus scan.

The last virus scan brought up no problems. I can't find anything in Essentials that suggests Firefox is being blocked but I've tried opening it by clicking and right clicking but no luck. I found a suggestion on Firefox support that said I should create a new profile but I can't find the relevant exe -p program despite doing a full Search. This problem is on my desktop which is using XP (I'm sending this from my laptop where there is no problem - and I'm also using Essentials on this.) Hope someone can help as all my links are now gone.

Try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that that there are no longer Firefox or plugin-container processes left on the Processes tab in the Task Manager. Otherwise session restore will reopen the page(s) from the previous session.

I forgot to include in my post that I had downloaded the new flash after the "no audio" began and it did not help. The problerm began some time after I installed OS 10.7.4.

Did the trick! Not sure what I did to cause the screen to go numb, but this worked perfectly!!! I cleaned the screen and must have inadvertently selected something that locked the screen. This perfect solution kept me from having to run to the Apple Store. Many thanks.

Firefox just changed out of nowhere. I can only open firefox once... I used to have atleast 2 browsers up using them both on different sites, but now I can't have but one firefox browser up (not tabs, but firefox pages) Also when I am trying to upload images on ebay or any other site nothing happens... nothing pops up. I click it over and over and nothing even pops up. This is exactly what happens with the firefox browser in my first question... I can click the firefox icon a million times and nothing comes up. My tabs are all gone and it doesn't show anything like I had before this all changed? Did I reset everything some how? I do not recall clicking anything to go back... I have Windows OS. I downloaded Firefox yesterday. Every time I open the Firefox browser, it starts in safe mode. I have restarted my machine several times -- Firefox still starts in Safe Mode. My favorites from IE copied to Firefox fine, and Firefox is now my default browser...it just keeps opening in Safe Mode.

I downloaded the toolbar. When I was done using the computer, I put it to "sleep." The next time I "woke" the computer and went to Firefox, the toolbar was gone. When I downloaded the toolbar again, I got a box in the upper left hand corner of the screen stating Firefox BLOCKED the toolbar, and did I want to allow it. There was NO option to allow always-it's just a one time deal. When I shut down for the day, I expected it to remain, but no-next time I fired up firefox, NO TOOLBAR. I pulled up Inbox dollars again, clicked on download toolbar, got the box stating it's blocking the toolbar, etc, etc, etc. Unless Firefox upgrades daily, or in some cases, several times in one day, I'm going to stick with my description that the toolbar magically disappears EVERY TIME I OPEN

One of the suggestions probably was to try starting Firefox in its Safe Mode by holding down the shift key when starting Firefox. (This doesn't work if Firefox is still running hidden in memory.)
In the small dialog that should appear, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)

I get the "Well, this is embarrasing" message every time I try to open Firefox. I've tried restarting my computer, nothing helps. I use MacBook Pro.

This happens when my home page is loading, or sometimes when I am trying to open another game, and sometimes for no reason at all. It happens usually about 10-20 times an hour and is a real pain. I use Foxfire because it supports the Zinga game bar. What can I do to help get rid of this nuisance.

Thanks for the workaround. However what's missing here is some acknowledgement of a new problem? This error message on start-up is affecting every laptop and Mac in our house. It wasn't happening before the last upgrade so what's been broken and what else is damaged? Downloads don't open when I right click on each (I'm not even given the option of clicking on "OPEN") OR when I double click on each download.

If Open and Open Containing Folder in the right-click context menu in the Download Manager window are grayed then that means that the file is no longer in the original download location. 
It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox. 
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

When I open a new page, Firefox won't let me close it without closing altogether the website I am exploring. This has happened since the "update" and happened on multiple website. What happened to "close tab?"

TS3297 Every time I open iTunes to listen to music, not access the iTunes Store, I get the password sign in box, over and over again. When I try to access the iTunes Store it does not except my password. This has happened since the last update.

Everytime I open iTunes to play music, NOT to access the iTunes Store, I get the password sign in box for the iTunes Store. If I click cansel the box pops up a second time.

one feature of windows 8 is the refresh that saves libraries,
because you are using windows 7, you will need to backup all files to another storage device
