I can't open Firefox. It says I am working offline but i cannot figure out how to change to on online. IE works just fine
I had firefox for a while and it worked fine. One day when I clicked to open it it said "You are currently offline, change status to online". I am paraphrasing. Internet Explorer has no problems with me being offline, it is working.
We uninstalled and reinstalled the program with the same result. We gave up for a few months and went back to Int Exp.
I got a pop up from Yahoo saying to try FF #4. I was shocked to see the exact same message as before.
Did you check the File > Work Offline setting?
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account. It's assigned when the account is created. But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password. Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't. Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it. If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you. -
I cannot figure out how to change the photo size on my iPhone 5s. The first time I took a pic it asked if I wanted smalll, medium or large and listed the pixels. I chose small but am now finding that is too small. Can anyone help me set it to medium now? I can't find any setting for that. I'm a newby to iPhones and have no idea what I'm doing. Thanks for any help you can offer.
By "sending" do you mean sending email?
If so, what app are you using to take the photos on your iPhone 5? Or are the photos from a different source (saved to your Camera Roll from somewhere else, like a web page or Messages)?
My guess is that Mail gives you the option to send different file sizes when it detects you are trying to Mail a really large photo file. The size of photos on the iPhone 5 is really big and some email providers may stop your mail from being delivered if attachments are too large. Thus, Mail tries to help you by offering to resize the photo.
I suspect that if you are sending smaller files, Mail does not bother giving you options to save a smaller version. In fact, I have seen this behavior. So, if the photo is already "small enough", it gets sent as-is.
To my knowledge, there is no global iOS setting for this. Some apps may have different rules, of course. -
Does anyone know of an e-reader app for the iphone that has text to speech capability? I have a Kindle 3G that can read whole pdf documents and books but I cannot figure out how to do it on my iphone 4.
All of the apps I have found on the App store either do not have the text to speech capability or if they have it they will only read a page at a time or simply read the text you paste into their window. I really do not understand what is so difficult about having this feature as Kindle provides it--though Amazon does not make the feature available on its iPhone 4 app.
Please help.thanks. yes i am aware of the VoiceOver feature but it is NOT the solution to my problem. as you said, it is a solution to a different set of issues. i want the text to speech ability because i there are books i need to read but do not have the time to sit down and read them and have become used to listening to them read to me either by a professional human reader or with the text to speech software on the Kindle.
I think Apple makes the best audio devices but i am really disappointed in this inexplainable shortcoming. if apple can give us siri they ought to be able to design a nice little button that i can push to turn on text to speech while i am in a document, book, magazine or webpage. clearly it is possible as apple has added the "reader" button in safari to have web pages dropped into the reader format.

I like the mail feature with one exception; I cannot figure out how to change the font size of incoming mail permanently. And, when answering an email I have to highlight the first few words and zoom it so I can see what I am writing. what am I missing?
You can type the email using what you set in preferences and then highlight the text and use command - minus sign (or command - + for larger) to reduce the size of the text.
You can also type command - T and a window will appear allowing you to select fonts/sizes/color/ background highlight.
The above works in Notes also. I haven't tried to do this in any other Apple application.
For incoming emails, you can use the above to reduce font size, but I don't know of a way to permanently set the incoming font size to a default. -
I've been having problems with Firefox 4.0 locking up pretty much since I installed it. I did add a few add-ons and all I can think of to do is to remove them. I can't figure out how to get rid of them.
Well, When I click on Add-ons I don't get a list of add-ons. AN Add-ons tab opens which shows lots of other great add-ons but I can't get a list os ones that I've installed and have no option to remove. I'm on version 4.0. Maybe the "remove" as described is for an earlier version?

Am using numbers on iPad. was able to change categories on budget page but am not having luck with finding way to modify on transaction page. have looked at other responses to similar question and they say to use data format for pop up menu. i do not have this option (or can't find) on my iPad. any guidance greatly appreciated

Click your cell, click the paintbrush icon. Tap Format and scroll down to Popup Menu. You can edit your popup there. When you are done don't forget to fill it down.

Once that is changed Firefox should hold that setting until the next time you print something thru Firefox, unless you would be using a different printer. -
My email address in the imessage part of my ipad is incorrect. How can I change the email address to conform with the email address on the rest of my apple products? I can get messages on my iphone, mac but not on my ipad because of the incorrect address.
Go on to settings> Messages > send and receive

Looks to me like Apple's iTunes update isn't applying newer versions of:
Apple Application Support
Apple Mobile Device Support
These are built-in to the setup.exe. The consumer way of fixing them is a total uninstall of iTunes and the above packages. You can include Bonjour but I don't think that's causing the problem. Now when you install iTunes it gets the latest version of these.
More advanced users can extract the applemobiledevicesupport64.msi and appleapplicationsupport.msi files and run these if already at iTunes 11.1.4. Include the itunes.msi/itunes64.msi if it's an older version of iTunes that's broken. Doing this has repaired my clients without the messy/lengthy process described by Apple on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376 -
Across the top very top of the screen I somehow loaded a seasonal picture of pumpkins. I can not find where I got them from and can't figure out how to change it to another picture.

My email recently changed and so I updated my Apple ID to reflect my new email, but my Icloud account still shows the old email as the username on both my Iphone and Ipad and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change or delete it. My password doesn't work with the old email address. When I look for my old email address in the Apple ID support area it says that the ID doesn't exist. Help!!!
You have to go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated credentials. This deletes the account and your synced data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing to a different account, your data will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.
