ITunes 1607 error... can't open iTunes or update iPod.
I tried to load the newest version of iTunes at home and the installation process got caught up in validating stage and I had to reboot my computer because it was hung up. Now, when I try to open iTunes, I get an error and I can't reinstall or uninstall iTunes. I get a 1607 error. Is there a quick fix that is specifically for Win 2000 OS or is this a standard Windows fix of wipe the hard drive and re-install everything?
Try this page and see if it helps sort it out:
Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Run Time -
? I can't open iTunes at all. When I hit the icon, it lights up but doesn't engage to open the program. The past few days I'd been experiencing frequent freezes when using the iTunes Store. Any ideas for how to open iTunes?
I would copy over the entire thing if you have room. With iTunes 10.4 though, you can download any previous iTunes purchases you have made in the past with your current iTunes account. While in iTunes, look at the left hand side of your screen and select "Purchases" and look at the bottom right corner of the screen and select "Download Previous Purchases". If you have an iPhone, iPod and/or iPad...you can do the same thing from each device. Nice new feature...just remember that those ripped CDs need a back-up!!! Enjoy...

Using Macbook(2008),Lion10.7.4,itunes 10.6.3,the latest version.Since i accept system upgrade last week(the upgrade package includs related itunes upgrade), Itunes goes dead every time! I suppose it's the auto podcast update that kills it... how can i open itunes to close the auto download and Genius function...Or except reinstall itunes, other options? cuz uninstalling itunes is really a pain in the... arse... So, could anyone help me ??? I tried changing my memory bar from 3G to 4G, and holding opt+Cmd+P+R to reset PMV(not sure remember it...)something but all in vain... Itunes still stuck in the first place as the following shows.... What shall i do???!!! i'm really frustrated.

Just upgraded to vista and now can't open itunes
I just upgraded to vista (what a pain) I have uninstalled itunes and then reinstalled itunes but I still can't open it. This is what happens. When I click on the itunes icon I get the licence agareement which I check agree and when it goes away I get an error message which says: "The folder Itunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder." I have tried clicking on the Itunes icon and have gone to itunes properties control panel and clicked on security and tried to get permission many times. After reading post's on this fourm I went to the itunes folder on my c drive and went to the same control panel and tried again but to no avail. I had no trouble with itunes on XP and have used it for years. Btw I can open Quicktime player but it will not play my video files (I don't care because quicktime is not my default player). but I can open it.
I have an Ipod nano and I want to use it to listen to audio books but I can't load them onto it without itunes.
Thanks for any help in advances
tiger8384Yes I still have a problem. This is what it is in a nutshell. With User Account Control on in vista I can't open itunes. I am not sure what happens when I try but here goes. First I have installed itunes into my computer and have an icon on my desktop. When I click on that icon the first thing that happens is that I get a licenses agreement which I accept. As soon as I accept the agreement it goes away and I get an error message that says “The folder Itunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder." The only option that the error message gives me is to say “OK”. When I click on the OK button on the error message it goes away and nothing else happens. Because of this problem I have uninstalled and installed itunes at least 5 times.
I have tried to read as many post in this forum as I can trying to find a solutions to this problem but to no avail. I have also gone to the vista forum and have read as many posts as I can about itunes problems that are there but to no avail. I have tried many fixes that have not work except one. And that was “to turn off the User Account Control.” When I turned off this control I was able to open itunes for the first times. Since then I have opened itunes many times and use it to load my ipod. But when I turn on User Account Control I have the same problem and I can’t open itune. I am open to suggestions on how to fix this problem and at this time I am not sure what is wrong. I have tried my things trying to fix this problem but for all I know I might have does something wrong. So at point I will try anything that you suggest. -
Can't open itunes or quicktime
About a month ago I tried to copy a dvd on my computer, turned out the dvd was in very bad shape and I couldn't do it. A few days later, I tried to open my iTunes and I got the message, "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." I can't remember how I discovered that my Quicktime was having problems, but when I tried to open Quicktime to see what was going on, it absolutely would not open. I've tried re-installing both. I've tried deleating both and re-installing, nothing works. I've actually only been able to delete Quicktime once. I keep getting an error message when I try to delete Quicktime. I'm not sure why I was able to once. I'm very frusterated and can't find my issue anywhere on the support site. Can some one help? I can't even find a phone number to call for help. Please help.

An exception occurred while trying to run

It's looking for the QuickTime.cpl in the right
place, so that rules out certain complications
involved with installing a Codec Pack or another
program containing non-standard "QuickTime"
componentry.
So let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp
utility. then use it to clear any existing
QuickTime installation configuration
information from your PC (Launch CleanUp, find the
QuickTime entry in the list of programs shown in
CleanUp, select the QuickTime entry and click
remove):

tion of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files
and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or
double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click
Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and
QuicktimeVR.qtx.
7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into
your PC by doing a repair install of
itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications
prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change"
and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the
PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch
properly now?
I tried your suggestion. I'm not very computer knowledgable, but I tried my best. I was able to install the Installer CleanUp Utility, which is where I thought I would have problems. So, I accomplished all that, I was able to make it all the way through deleting the QuickTime folder. When it came to navigating to the C:\Windows\system321. and remove the QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx. I had problems. I don't know if I was in the right area, but I went to the Local Disc and opened it, then opened the Windows folder, clicked on System32 and deleted anything pretaining to QuickTime. I re-started the computer, repaired the itunes file, with my antivirus off and re-started my computer again, but I still can't open itunes, I get the same message. I forgot to mention on my post that I don't know that much about computers, I just know the basics. But I do try to figure things out.

ITunes empty! is there anyway that i can sync my itunes to my ipod?
I opened up my itunes today to find that it was completely empty. nobody else has access to my comp so i know that it wasn't that someone erased all my music, playlists, videos, podcasts.... is there anyway that i can sync my itunes to my ipod, so that way i dont have to re-rate all my music? ~or~ is there anything else i can do?
You can use Explorer to search your computer for missing songs.
On the Start menu, click "Search".
Select "All Files and folders".
In the "All or part of the file name" field, type the song name and then click "Search".
If you see the file you are looking for in the Search Results window, you can add it back into your iTunes library.
See: How to add songs from your hard drive to iTunes.
If you've done that and can't find the music, you can get it back from your iPod.
First of all try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here. -
I can't open Itunes store anymore
Hi,
At first, excuse my french !
I can't open Itunes Store.
I Updated my Iphone with the latest IOS 7 and now when I want to start Itunes I can't.
I touch the Icon but nothing happens.
Would you please help me ?
Best regardsHello Calapachaeu,
Thank you for providing so much detail about the issue you are experiencing with the iTunes Store after upgrading to iOS 7.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching the applications on your iPhone:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting and relaunching the iTunes Store app, I recommend restarting your phone and then resetting if it's still not working:
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPhone:

iTunes: Restoring iOS software

I can't open Itunes due to error -45075. What do I do?
I can't open Itunes due to error -45075. What do I do?
I Had this problem along with the error message that it's missing the driver GNSDK_DSP.DLL. I am Windows XP and fixed the error by going to Start>My Computer>Add or Remove Programs
When the Add or Remove programs list is "populated", Find iTunes on it. Click the link that says "For more information" and the iTunes box will expand. You will see a button that says "Repair" and it says to reinstall the program if it is not working correctly, use the "Repair" button. I clicked the Repair button and it automatically started the reinstall. When all the progress bars disappear (it doesn't really give you any other indication that its done) click the "close" button and try to open iTunes again. It worked first time for me. I also saw another forum where someone said it worked for the other Windows versions by following the same route, just that in other windows versions it might be "Computer" instead of "My Computer" and the Add or Remove Programs function is also called something else. Hope this helps somebody having this problem. It drove me crazy finding the answer, but the fix was super simple once I found out what to do. -
