I can't open iTunes all of a sudden... no problem before!

I tried to open iTunes the other day and the message "iTunes requires Mac OSX 10.4.7 or later". My OS is 10.4.6 but I never had a problem before- why now all of a sudden it wont let me in? What can I do to resolve this? Within the past few weeks I got an iPod nano and hooked it in- could this have anything to do with it?

thanks for the link ... i did do this (more than once) but ...?!? so i am currently doing the update again .... i will see what happens .... i noticed though that the downloading is occurring (like before)and it shows the bar on the bottom of the box the # of MB (...right now "241 MB out of 304 MB--about 8 minutes to go").
... but i did notice that the previous time there was no indication of it being finished with another box saying..."update complete".... so we will see in a few minutes...
...by the way, i appreciate your help....

Somebody help. I can't open iTunes. all i get its a message that it says : this application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the app may fix this problem.
I re-instaled the app but i receive the same message.
    help please.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Can't open pdfs all of a sudden

    Have Windows XP.
    Have Adobe Reader 10.1.3
Have never had any issues with .pdfs
TODAY I can't open one sent in an email. So I sent it to another worker (same server) who opened it with no problem.
I get an error message when I try to open anything (just saying Adobe failed to open)
Can't open it if I save it to desktop.
Can't open it if I save it to the network.
Then I checked older pdfs and can't open them either.
Uninstalled and reinstalled from adobe website.
Can't open up from within the program either.
The actual program will open if I click on it - but that's it.
    Any ideas?

  • Can't open PhotoshopCS4Extended all of a sudden

Suddenly it won't open when I click on any button or link; and I can't find the exe. file in my program files.  So here's my question:  I have the install disc I bought a couple of years ago.  If I take the scary step of uninstalling CS4 from my computer will I be able to reinstall from my disc or is it only good for one initial install?  Or, will I have to have an authorization # or something?
Thanks so much for your invaluable help!

File loss isn't something to be glossed over...
Have you been doing things in Windows Explorer near the C:\Program Files\Adobe... area?  Sometimes subfolders get dragged to folders next door accidentally.  Usually the recovery from this is just to drag them back to the right place.
You really do need to explain why files would suddenly go missing on your computer before trying to recover from the failure, or you just chance losing more.
Once you understand what happened, your best bet would be to recover the files directly if at all possible.  Do you have backups?
In answer to your question, if you do have to reinstall you may well be able to activate again without trouble on the same computer, but you will have to call Adobe if you can't.  Usually they'll fix you right up.  There's no limitation to the number of times you can reinstall from the same disc.

  • My itunes crashes and I can't open it all. HELP

My itunes crashes and I can't open it all. Just installed the latest version 10.5.1. I can't even get it to open to try and figure out what is wrong. Can I uninstall it and reinstall the less recent version which was working? Help!!
I am not a computer guru, the reason that I love my MacBook Pro is that I don't have to worry about it, now I am worrying, because I can't get into my itunes at all. I would trash the new version of itunes and find an older version (I did try reinstalling 10.5.1) as long as I was reassured that I wouldn't lose all my music.
    Thanks all.

    Sorry to hear.
Wow, first iPad crisis with vs 5 & 501, now this?
I see the update waiting right now for my MBP, and is why I'm here to see what's up.
On the software update panel, it's all about cloud service.
Looks like 10.5 is the end of the road for me.
I can see having gaming on cloud, but with the work I put into my tunes, no way.
We'll see how people react as time goes, and the next crisis.

  • HT1926 Latest iTunes software wont completely download and now I can't open iTunes at all?

Hi!   I really hope someone can help me with this-
iTunes just had a popup that there was new software to install, so I chose the update to iTunes.  The download was almost finished, but then it stopped and said there was a problem with the download (obviously) and to try to install it from within the program.  Fine by me.  Only, I can't open iTunes now??  It tells me that, "The item refered to by this shortcut cannot be accessed.  You may not have the appropriate permissions."
I'm not even going to try and pretend that I know what that means, lol.  I searched my entire computer for iTunes and every shortcut/folder/etc with 'iTunes' in it gives me an error message of some sorts.  D:
I even tried to re-download iTunes from this site, but it gets halfway and then gives me error message 2324.
What do I do from here?  I really don't want to uninstall iTunes (if it even still exists on my computer) because I'm afraid I'll all the modified song information that I just spent literately hours updating last week.  >_<

Similar problem here.  iTunes11 notified me it was available.  However, auto-update failed.  So, I downloaded for manual update.  That failed with "permission" message.  I am administrator on this machine (WIN7).  I tried uninstalling old version, but it failed with same permission issue.  I now can't start iTunes... throws permission message.  So, I'm completely dead in the water.  Does this stuff get tested before it's shipped?

You supply little pertinent about the MBP and the iPhone.
First... on the MBP... Click on the Apple icon.. Top left in Finder...
 > About this Mac > Version...what does it say?
Which iPhone and what is its' iOS Version.

Can't open iTunes on my computer. All collapsed, rebouting doesn't help.

Try removing iTunes, Apple Application Support, and the related Apple software using Control Panel. For a walkthough on the process, check out this Apple document -> Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Then try downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes from here -> Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

  • I tried to download the latest itunes update, but received an error and now can't open itunes at all. Help?

i tried to download the latest itunes update, but received an error and now can't open itunes at all. Help?

    Hello bajura007,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
When you get to the step to uninstall iTunes, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

  • Can't Open ITunes Program at All

Two days ago, the program was fine. Today, I can't open at all, not even to sync. Running OS Vista. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Well I had my father strip all Apple products from the PC using the utility and install the standalone Quicktime.
At that point we tried to simply open Quicktime to see if we would get ANY error.
Oh we got one. We got the mother of all errors: The Dreaded Buffer Overrun.
For anyone following this thread...this seems to be the heart and soul of all iTunes not opening problems. This is something that has been going on since this past spring; but is now a huge problem with all the headaches going on this Christmas morning/afternoon.
A lot of iPods/iPhones will be getting returned if Apple doesn't do something quickly.
Repeat...this is not a new issue. And at present, it is an issue that has not been addressed. I've told my dad to return the iPhone & I certainly will not be buying one till Apple does something. I've never seen the buffer overrun on my PC, but the fact that has existed this long is irresponsible.

  • I can not open iTunes at all, Warning: (13010). Any idea?

I can not open iTunes at all. Amy idea?? best, elmo

    Hi, zazaza626.
I can't open it through the the shortcut or anything! Not just the store, but it all, like my library or anything!
Let's try to get an idea of what might be going on with some preliminary questions from b noir's "smack" for iTunes launch failures:
Is there an error message associated with the launch failure?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
If there's not an error mesage, let's check your QuickTime (its well-being is a prerequisite to a functioning iTunes).
Go to the XP Start menu > All Programs and try running QuickTime.
    Does it start?
If not, then the same question as for iTunes - is there an error message?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
Do you notice any other peculiar behavior with QuickTime?

  • Failed iTunes update - now I can't open iTunes at all

iTunes update on Windows 7 failed - laptop was accidentally shut down.  Now I can't open iTunes - I get these messages:
    Runtime Error!
    Program:C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
and when I OK that there is a following message:
iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.
    Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
Unfortunately, for some reason my laptop will not allow me to uninstall iTunes (erroneously says I don't have administrative authority).
I've tried restoring the system to a date prior to the iTunes update but that hasn't worked either.
I'm not particularly computer savvy so is there anyone out there who can offer some advice please?

    Hi there,
Earlier iTunes (and supporting applications) need to be completely uninstalled before you can install the new version. Here's the complete Apple info on this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Mobile device application will most likely fail to uninstall, so you would need to visit its location(s) and manually delete the files THEN folder(s). The location of the folders is documented in this link from Apple.
