I can´t open iTunes - error AVFoundationCF.dll

I can't open iTunes on my PC. What should I do? - error AVFoundationCF.dll

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
Does iTunes launch properly now?
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

This happened to me too. The secret was: it's already opened. But the application is not responding. I right-mouse clicked the icon on my dock and Force Quit it. Reopened it and done.

  • Can't open iTunes - Error 7

Hello, for some reason i can't open itunes since the last update. each time it says: "The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing from your computer." and afterwards - "iTunes was not installed correctly. please reinstall itunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)".
I have seen some older discussions regarding this issue, but none of them helped me.
    I tried installing Microsoft.NET frameworks 4
    I tried downloading AVFoundationCF.dll
I tried re-installing itunes and all apple software.
after some re-installing the error message changed to "The procedure entry point kFigFormatReaderLoaderParameter_ChapterCount could not be located in the dynamic library MediaToolbox.dll." and then the same error message.
it just never ends... please help! (i'm using windows 7)
Oh, and will installing an older version of itunes help? if so, where can i get it?

hey guys... was having the same issue. i did what this site said, went to the unistall part on windows 7, right clicked on Apple Application Support, clicked Repair, and my itunes is working again! Hope this helps

  • Can't open iTunes - error messages

    Hi,
It's impossible to open iTunes. There are 2 error messages.
Can't find the open point ?fastFree@***@@YAXPAX@Z in JavaScriptCore.dll
    AND
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (windows error 127).
I deleted all Apple applications, earase program folders and reinstalled iTunes. Always impossible to open iTunes.
    Same error messages.
    Last 64 bits iTunes version
    Windows 7 Pro 64 bits
    Thanks for your help.

I am having the same problem.  Here are the multiple things I have tried (from searching through multiple ASC threads and Apple's own website):
I reinstalled iTunes over the old files.
I completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
I completely uninstalled all of iTunes components - iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile, Bonjour, and Apple Application Support - individually and in that order and then reinstalled iTunes.
    I deleted and reinstalled Java.
I deleted two different SC Info.dll files located within the Apple Computer program files.
I created a new user and tried to open it.
Ran two different antivirus programs which are up-to-date and they didn't flag anything.
Does anyone know of another solution?!
By the way, the specfic file actally has W T F as the ***... I'm not sure if Serge didn't write those characters so that his thread wouldn't get flagged? ?fastFree@***@@YAXPAX@Z

  • I can't open itunes - error message - created by earlier version of itunes

    Hi,
My sister used my itunes to set up her new ipod nano but now when I click on the itunes icon on my laptop I get an error message that says it can't open because it was created by an earlier version of itunes. I think she upgraded itunes when she registered her ipod. Any idea how I can now get itunes to open?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Can't open itunes because pthreadVC2.dll was not found?

I have enjoyed itunes for a long time on my Sony Vaio, but now everytime I try to open it I get this message:
"This application has failed to start because pthreadVC2.dll was not found".
I have followed the instructions of previous posts, repeatedly deletin itunes and reinstalling it again. I have the latest versions of everything. We have spent countless hours in frustration but nothing has worked. I can't even fine a number to call or a place to email to get an answer regarding itunes support. Any ideas?

AFAICT, pthreadvc2.dll is part of Safari, not iTunes. Do you have Safari installed?
If so, I would try uninstalling it, then trying to run iTunes. If you need Safari for some reason, re-install it.

  • Can't open Itunes Error (-50)

No idea why it started doing it.. Running windows 7 64bit.  When I launch Itunes it says "The iTunes applicaiton could not be opened. An unknown error occured (-50)."  I've tried several thigns I've found on the internet where you clear the entire temp directory and remove the programs then reinstall and I keep getting it.  Any ideas?
    -Brendan

By way of experiment, let's try launching iTunes as an administrator.
In Computer, open Local Disk C: or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
Open the "Program files (x86)" folder.
    Open the "iTunes" folder.
Right-click on the iTunes.exe file and select "run as administrator".
Does it launch without the -50 now?

  • I can not open iTunes. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get this message when I try to open itunes. can not find MSVCR80.dll     Then I get ERROR 7 (windows error 126)   I tried reinstalling iTunes but that did not help. Please Help Me!

I can not open itunes on my computer. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get a message that states This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried to reinsall the application but it did not help. I also get a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes   Error 7 (Windows error 126)   Please Help me!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

You supply little pertinent about the MBP and the iPhone.
First... on the MBP... Click on the Apple icon.. Top left in Finder...
 > About this Mac > Version...what does it say?
Which iPhone and what is its' iOS Version.

  • TS1717 I can't open Itunes, I have an error that says says MSVCR80.dll is not found. I have tried twice to uninstall and reinstall but keep getting the same error message. Can anyone help?

I can't open ITunes, I have an error message that says MSVCR80.dll is not found. Is anyone able to help solve this issue for me. I have tried to unistall and reinstall ITunes twice but continue to get the same error message.

A msi file is short for microsoft installer.  It normally is for installation, removal, and maintenance for a program. So iTunes.msi would be used for the updating of the program.  For some reason it isnt finding this so we can't update, install, or remove it.
From what I have seen windows installer cleanup utility solved related problems before.
I found this forum about removing and installing a new iTunes.  It was about someone who was trying to isntall iTunes, and was looking for msi file and asked for help.   Using this should allow you to be able to install iTunes.  It won't give you the msi file but will allow you to isntall iTunes over again.
    This was what was said.
Another option in case you can't get an msi. (Or even if you can ... the msi's mentioned in the messages may be damaged rather than missing.)
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
