In Windows 8, you should make sure you can find your iTunes library files, and you may want to backup to a different location. After that, reinstalling should fix the problem.

HI, there is no error message when I try to open iTunes, it just hangs.
In regards to the location of the media folder it was located on the network however I changed it to a local directory. Should I try unistall and install with the correct media library?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:

(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?

Suddenly can't open iTunes on my computer

I can't open Itunes on my computer. When I try a window pops up and says:
"The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."
Any help? I've tried removing iTunes completely then redownloading it and I still get the same message. I've been able to use iTunes before this all this started. If anyone has any way to help please let me know, I would really like to be able to use iTunes again. Thanks

Hey there,
Set your pemissiont to allow you Read/Write permissions to the iTunes folder (\Music\iTunes\)and everything in that folder. Hope this helps.

I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. Me too - running iTunes 10.5.3 on Windows 7. Will allow me to sign in to iTunes, download app updates and then if I either close iTunes or try to sign out of my iTunes account it all freezes. So frustrating, because my understanding is that iTunes saves the library file when exiting. So, everytime I update apps I lose all the downloads.

When I connect either device to iTunes I get the message "you need to uninstall and reinstall itunes". I've done this multiple times with the same results. This is very frustrating, HELP!!!

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

I want my old iTunes back, I am sick of uninstalling and reinstalling this new version. I just need my apps for my new iPhone6

how can I just get my old itunes back. I am not going to continue uninstalling and reinstalling the new version. I had it on my computer, and for some reason it crashed and I started this commotion. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the help of Fix It and advice from many people. Every time I get a new error. Sick to death of it. I only need it to sync my apps to my phone and to use iCloud.
If anyone can get me back to some other version that I can use, I would really appreciate it.

If you really want to roll back to 11.4 uninstall all iTunes/Apple components, restore the pre-upgrade version of the library as described inEmpty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash, then download and install from one of these direct links:

iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-09-09)
