I can't open itunes with finder to get to the download part
I have a macbook and I downloaded the itunes 9, and it says that its itunes.9.0.2
I know that I need to open it in finder to get to the setup or whatever, but when I click on it, it opens with diskimage mounter, and I don't know how to open it with finder.
Go to your Downloads folder and find it - it should end with .dmg.
That is a disk image file. Double click it to open the disk image and you should get a finder window with the iTunes pkg.
Double click that to install iTunes.
Regards,
Colin R.

After updating to Mavericks, I can't open iTunes. I keep getting a pop up telling me iTunes needs to run in 64-bit mode. After following directions several times to go to Finder, iTunes, Get info and "unclick 32-bit mode" it still won't work and i keep getting the smae pop up window. I've rebooted several times also.
What version of iTunes do you have? The current version of iTunes for Mavericks is 11.1.5 and the default mode is 64 bit. If "Open in 32 bit mode" is checked and you cannot uncheck it are you logged on using an account with administrative priveleges?

I need help, I was asked to update Itunes to the lastest version. But now I can't open or install.
I get this message:
The installer has insufficient priviledges to access this directory C:/program data/ applecomputer / installer cache/ itunes 9.0.2...... The installation cannot continue log on as administrator or contact your system administator.
I am logged on as the administrator!
Please help I'm getting frustrated.
Thank you!Good-O. That makes the next thing we'll try slightly easier.
Go "Start > Computer"
In Computer, open your C drive.
Open "Program Data"
Open "Apple Computer"
Open "Installer cache"
Right-click on the iTunes folder and select "Properties". Click the "Security" tab.
Select the name in the list corresponding to your user account.
Does that entry have full control over the folder? If not, give yourself full control. Then try another iTunes install.
Any better luck that time? -
Hey Everybody
So I installed the new lion OS X, and just got an ipod, but when i tried to open itunes it showed following message (linked).
I tried to unistall itunes and then install it again, but it doesn't work.
Can anybody please help me?
Kind regards Kathrine NorskOK, so if all your music, etc is safe, and your feeling brave, Uninstall iTunes in this way. Keep in mind you'll lose any backups for an iPhone if you have one.
Move to Trash
Applications/iTunes
/Library/iTunes
~/Library/iTunes
~/Library/Preferences/Any file that is associated with com.apple.iTunes.plist (there may be a few or many)
If your Library is not visible in your Home Folder then Finder Menu/ Option Click Go/Library
Remember to be careful to delete only those files in the Library
Then download/install iTunes 10.4 and hopefully that will work -
Can't open iTunes with XP!
I just got my son's iPod working after one year of problems! Now, I can't use iTunes. I have a one year old HP dv6000 laptop running XP. iTunes 7.0 worked fine, but 7.1.1 gives me an error message "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration". Can someone help me with this? If not, how can I re-install an earlier version of iTunes? Thanks for your help!
Victhat message is typically caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (itunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)

Can't open iTunes 'cause it won't recognize the library
Hi,
Today I got a new Macbook Pro; I restored my information from a Time Machine disk, just as I did before a year ago when I got my iMac. In that ocasion everything went right. But today when I try to open iTunes it says that the iTunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created with a more recent version of iTunes, and asks me if I want to download the new version. I agree to download it but then it says my software is up to date. What would be wrong? How can I get to my music again? (almost 100GB of music!)Here is a direct link for iTunes 10.6.3. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1426
Download it and install over your current installation. No need to delete anything. -
I can't open itunes message says you dont have the appropiate permission to acces the item
i update itunes to the new update an appear a message saying windows cannot acces the specified ,device, path or file you may not have the appropiate permission to acces the iten how can a fix it y desinstall itunes and install it two times and still not working
Make sure that you have closed all programs that might be using the iTunes library.itl file. I would hit CTRL + ALT + DEL buttons and enter the Task Manager - from there end any unnecessary program running in the background.
Next try to start iTunes again. If it fails, restart PC, do the same with Task Manager and try to open iTunes again. -
yes itunes will not open it gives me an error that the file itunes library.itl is locked or on a locked disk or i don't have write permission for it.

How Do I fix this? My mac desktop is less than one year old. I have no idea what the problem is. I was using itunes fine importing disks for the last hour. I force quit it b/c it froze for so long.
If someone thought that renaming a Word .doc/x document to .pages would convert the document, it doesn't. Pages ’09 expects a index.xml file in its document, and there isn't one in .doc/x files. Simply rename that foo.pages document back to foo.doc, and open with Pages ’09.

After upgrading my iphone 5 to IOS 7.0.2, itunes does open properly. The app appear almost blank as it is hang up condition. Does anyone have a suggestion to solve this?
Hi,
Close the App Store app and the iTunes app by pressing the Home button twice, and swiping them up.
Then go to Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data
Open the apps again.
I'd recommend as well to sign out and in using Settings > iTunes & App Store
Hope that helps. -
I can't open itunes when I click onn the icon the message I get is "error new itunes library"
I can't open itunes..when I click on the icon on my desk top I get the message" error new itunes library". I have windows 7.
Hi beachy85!
When you remove iTunes, your music on your computer (and your iPod, too) will be saved.
Let's try this:
Go to "Add or remove programs" in Control Panel.
Find iTunes and QuickTime from this list, and remove them both.
Then, download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the remainging installation files.
For information on the WICU, see this:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Then, go to this page, and QuickTime (get the Standalone version, not the one that includes iTunes in the pack):
QuickTime download
Then, install iTunes from this page here:
Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5
After you've done that, restart your computer.
Now, try opening iTunes again. Do you still get that error message, or not?
