I can't open my address book, any ideas on what I should do?
I am not able to open my address book on my iMac. Any ideas on why it won't open or what I can try to get it to open?
Then I'd try re-installing the 'combo' updater. Which version of OS X are you running - 10.5, 10.6 or 10.7?

It would be a good idea to Repair Disk Permissions before and after updating: Utilities>Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD on the left and click on 'repair disk permissions'. Don't be concerned if it comes up with a long list of repairs, it's normal.

When I download word docs my MacBook is adding the flv extension onto the doc extension and I can't open the doc. Any ideas?
Go to the main Library folder and look for a folder called Application Support / Microsoft.
There are a few folders in there, and you may have to do some digging. In one of them (mine is called MAU2.0), there should be a file called Microsoft Autoupdate. Open it.
It looks like this:
check the button for manual updates.
That should let you open the apps without triggering an automatic update. -

Can't open my address book anymore
Good morning,
For about a week now, I haven't been able to access/open or edit my address book on my laptop, click on it, shows open but can't see anything. I can still search for addresses on my initial page. My Iphone 5's address book is working fine though thank goodness.
How can I resolve this, it's very annoying.

Try resetting your iPad:
Hold both the power button and the home button down for 10 seconds until the apple logo appears. Let go promptly when the logo appears. Wait 20 - 30 seconds more for the iPad to restart itself.
No settings or data will be lost. -
Itunes wont open like at all, any idea with whats wrong with it?
my itunes is not opening its been like this for a few weeks you could just sit there and keep clicking it but it wont open, and i have no idea if its itunes or my laptop thats causing this problem. sigh. anyone know anything about this kind of thing to help me with a solution?
This hint is addressed to all thoose of you who got the problem that ITunes does not start at all when launching.
For a short time (about 2-3 seconds) it pops up in the task manager, then it closes again.
I got this problem yesterday after upgrading to ITunes 10.5 and I have noticed that many others have experineced the same problem.
Here a solution that did work perfectly on my PC:
Search for the ITunes.exe file in the programm files.
Right klick and choose properties (oder Eigenschaften).
Go to tab compatibility and select to run ITunes in compatibility mode for Windows 2000 and further below, select the feature to run at 640x480 resolution.
Click on apply and close.
Now ITunes will start, but do not get scared because it opens at the very low resultution of 640x480.
In any case, once ITunes is running, you can change your resolution back to your normal setting and ITunes keeps running.
My conclusion is that unfortionately the new ITunes version was uncorrectly programmed, so that is has problems to launch with certain screen resolutions.
On my system the resolution is usually adjusted to 1920X1080 (Full HD).
I hope there will be an update available soon. -
I keep getting error 0xE8000068 ipod error, any ideas of what i should do?
i keep getting this error everytime i sync my ipod touch 3g to my computer. i have windows vista and i keep turning the ipod on/off, let it charge fully and used different usb ports. idk what else to do. any ideas?
Yep, i did reinstall iTunes (I don't have any other Apple software) and I keep everything (except BIOS) updated religiously. It didn't help.
To add to my previous post - when I was able to connect to iTunes that one time, iTunes started downloading 750 Mb update. About 20% into download, iPod disconnected and went into the same old spiral of death with 0xE8000068 error in iTunes. I kept it connected and tried to reconnect again, without success. I was afraid to close iTunes, so I waited until iTunes downloaded all of 750Mb, and voila - by morning, iPod was restored.. Albeit a little weird, it wasn't restored to factory settings, it just managed to boot correctly and now works. It seems to be missing some files (e.g. iTuneU won't show any subscriptions, but I can still listen and watch the lectures from iTunesU through "Music"->"iTunesU" menu).
So far so good. I'll just restore it when I listen through my 6Gb of lectures and podcasts - I'm in Hawaii on vacation now, using hotel's WiFi and I don't know how kindly the hosts will look upon 6Gb download within a day, maybe they pay per gigabyte here. Besides I ain't fixing what works. -

When I connect my iPad2 to my tv using the AV adapter I can hear sound for everything else except movies. I can hear tv episodes, music, YouTube videos, etc. anyone have an idea of how to fix this issue? Thank you for your help in advance.
Just connect the new iPod to your computer and setup the iPod via iTunes (instead of via wifi).

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.

Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that this Internet criminal has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

Everytime I try to use firefox I get a message saying Firefox cannot connect to the internet. It was working fine yesterday. I can connect without any problems using Internet Explorer, so I know it is not my internet connection?

I did a hard reset of the linksys router. I changed the name of the wireless network. I did this using the PC that is wired to the router. The PC continues to work just fine.
The G4 continues to be able to log-in in the wireless network, but there is no internet connection with the G4. Under Network Status, the G4 says "Airport is connected to the network. Airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet" Is this something I should try to fix?

I accepted the push to update my iphone to iOS6....now it will not ring. It blocks calls from my landline. Help! I've tried resetting, etc.
It has been caused in an OTA glitch. You need to hook it up to your computer, restore and update off of iTunes. Good Luck.
