I can't open my files. Pages asks me to save them in 09. How ?
My iMac crashed and I have a new one with the last version of Page, Numbers and Keynote. But I cant open my files.
Page says me that they are too old and I have to save them in 09 format. But how can I do that because I cant open that files !!!

when i want to see a web based pdf file i have to save it before opening it instead of it just opening in a pdf window.You can't.
Those PDFs are only accessible on the Mac.

Can't open old files in Pages. Don't want to upgrade. Help please
I am happy with my old Pages program ... some files I created on the old Pages open fine, as normal. However, some files I created on the
old Pages (created in Dec. 2013) will not open. I get a pop up from Apple saying that I have to upgrade.
I would be delighted to upgrade and pay the $20 but I read horrible reviews about the new Pages upgrade. So I would like to stick with my old
Pages but how can I open these files that are closed to me unless I purchase the new upgrade. Inexplicably, I can open some files that I created this month on the old pages. But some will not open.

Then I dragged it from Application to the dock where it now sits next to my old Pages. I tried to open up my file but still could not. How can I export it back to Word 09 (my old Pages) if I cannot open it. And this file will not open now, even when I have my new Pages in the dock. Or should I just give up on opening this file.
Also, I think I prefer the old Pages (Word 09) ... how can I make sure that I am creating documents in this program. I assume that I can keep it and continue to work with that. I guess the only way to prevent this from happening again is to check if I am using the old Pages before I start a document ??

Sorry! Something went wrong - I can't open my icloud pages file anymore
I can't open my icloud pages file anymore. We are two collaborators working on it and she told me the file was freezing. I have said she can reload the file but it didn't work. Then it was my turn. I have tried from desktop but also from Ipad. The Pages app now crash when I want to open this same file. When I load my icloud page, I see the file, it is here, with the last layout, but can't open. I need to recover that document, it's important to me. Is there any assistance @apple to do so?

You mentioned you tried some steps but I'm not sure what they are, you may try my suggestion to resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Click Start, right-click Computer, click
Properties, and then click Advanced system settings.
On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.
Locate and select the __COMPAT_LAYER variable, and then click Edit.
Set the value of the __COMPAT_LAYER variable to EnableThemes. Or, delete the __COMPAT_LAYER variable.
If the issue persists, we can troubleshoot this problem in Clean Boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with PowerPoint:

Pages is not saving document correctly. After saving the changes either do not appear or you can not open the file. The error is "not a valid format" I am in Pages '09 4.1 (923). I also use Parallels. Anyone having similar issues?
I'm not sure that Lion AutoSave feature apply to network servers.
I'm just sure that the Versions feature doesn't.

I can't open a file I just created a week ago and it says pages needs to be updated to open the file but its up to date, what do I do?
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 110 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

You can add the icon of the missing Pages on your Dock or open Pages from the Apple menu > Recent Items list.
Or you can archive Pages 5 so that it doesn't automatically open.
If you are unhappy about this review/rate Pages 5 in the App Store.

I am having the same problem. In my hotel when I connect my laptop a screen will pop up and you have to hit the button "I Accept Terms". However I can't do that with the ATV. I called the internet provider and they said they could not help me. Any ideas? Do you think the guy just doesn't know what he can do for me? I am thinking I will call later and hope to get a different technician who might know how to help connect me.

Does anyone else think this is a problem not only with Adobe? I would think Apple would have something to do with this? Wouldn't they get some idea from the developer versions that no browser can open PDFs while running Lion!? Can't open pmd files using InDesign

I have a few pmd files created back in 1996 using Mac at the time, can someone help me to open the files or convert it so I can see them in Indesign please?
ThanksI think there are two main reasons to reopen old PMD files. (1) Make new PDFs or ePUBS for tablets or (2) republish the publication, new edition etc. What I found is that we never know if a PMD will open whit In Design or not. If you did the right thing when you worked with Page Maker you should have saved your publications "packaged" ie, with pics, arts and fonts, using an option at PM "save" dialog. If you did so MAY BE your are half the way. As I noticed in other posts and forums, In Design needs that PMD, pics and fonts to be in the same directory. When you closed the files in PM, your disc contains PM, in root but pics and fonts each in their own directory, so, ID will not open and probably loop and stall without giving you any tip of what you are doing wrong. Create a correct directory at you computer and don't try to open from CDs or worst: old zip discs an even 3 1/4 rigid discs. Install all the fonts used at your PMD work. As Adobe's faqs say, In Design will open PM 6.5 up only.
If you did the wrong things some years ago, o-ho... I are something lost. Is you do not know the what fonts to install and have no 1990s and 2000s font discs you have nothing to try with In Design.
PM has the "conflict font" dialog, ever opening the files closed without proper fonts save too. ID has not (for PMD files) and crashes. I have CS5 installed. I found that some times I do what I said above and the file opens, other times, not.
But there is 100% fail safe thing to do. Perhaps you have at the bottom of an old box your Page Maker installation disc. I found mine 6.5 and 7.0. Ok they where developed for Windows 3.1 (anyone remember?) and Intel 386 and 486 CPUs. But SURPRISE! At least Page Maker 7.0 installs and works perfect in a i7 (fast one with 8 gb), two screens, fast graphic cards and amazingly, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits without need of any reverse compatibility trick or system.
So, I installed 7.0, installed the fonts, and opened PMDs at PM, not at IN. It works! It's the ONLY SOLUTION I FOUND for unable to open PMD files in In Design.
But about the goals? You will be really amazed how fast PM 7.0 works in a modern machine. I prepared a 360 pages book with some 60 pics to be printed as PDF. The i& took an impressive low 2.8 seconds to close the file and another 15 seconds to create the PDF with Nitro Pdf Creator (freeware), and this is the very point.
As you remember, during PM era, you have to export for PDF via Adobe Acrobat Distiller that was very slow at the machines at the time. I did not tried to reinstall early 2000s Distiller because we know the amount of incompatibilities of Acrobats, and Readers, and Distillers. Old Distiller possibly will crash your actual Acrobat Reader. Then use PRINT, not EXPORT TO PDF, installing a freeware pdf printer as Primo PDF or it's big sister Nitro PDF. The Page Maker printing dialog permits to choose your PDF settings as exact size of the paper and color separation to bureaus print. Very simple and fast.
So I am printing old books an articles as PDFs with PM 7.0 an then converting to ePUB using another great freeware called Calibre.
I hope this can save a lot of time for someone and make people able reuse their old PMD files ever.
If you did not work wiht this stuff pre In Design an have no PM installation disks, ok, you could blame the market that do not offers old "used" software, that sometimes can save the day. Ask for friends is they have a copy of PM 7. -
Can't open .bin files downloaded from Belkin's site
I can't get firmware updates from Belkin's website to open. Supposedly they're in .bin archives including instructions and the firmware. I even updated my Stuffit Expander to version 10. No luck.
If I drag the bin file onto expander it pops up a dialog box (that goes by too fast to read in less than 7 or 8 tries ) but there's never anything expanded to the desktop (the folder where the .bin file is).

I actually read the instructions elsewhere on that site. I don't ask for help without trying to find the answers on my own. For example, before posting, I did both a Google search on "can't open .bin files" and also did a search on the discussion boards too. Or was that a rhetorical question?

You don't open the .bin file with Stuffit. It's not an archive. It's actually a binary file.
Stuffit Expander was listed as the default application when using CMD-I AND elsewhere on that site it said it was a Mac archive .bin file. The fact that it's NOT a .bin archive file is news to me. Thanks.

I wasn't asking for support with a Belkin product. I was asking for help getting what I thought was a Mac formatted .bin archive open using my Mac. I provided a link to the file because I thought perhaps it was corrupt.

I'm using DW 8, and I have installed the 8.0.2 update. I'm
having trouble inserting certain JPG images into a site. I get an
error message pop-up that states "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg
files". It will allow me to insert some jpg files, but not all of

The files are not large at all. Doesn't appear to be any problem

most people suggest 72 because it was an old standard with
the early
macintosh DTP programs. For web use it's easier to
standardize on it because
when you make an image, you have to put ~some~ number in the
resolution box
and it might as well be 72 as any other number. It simplifies
moving image
files around in different applications if they are all the
same resolution.
For display in a browser, these will all have the same file
size and display
size in a web page:
600x600 pixels at 1dpi
600x600 pixels at 72dpi
600x600 pixels at 6000dpi
It's when they are used in other applications or when a
direct url like
/photos/1.jpg is printed out that they may display in the
resolution, not
the pixel dimension.
I came across a page once where the designer always saved his
images with a
resolution of 6000 dpi or some other odd number because he
thought that if
people dragged the image off the page to save it- most of
them wouldn't be
able to resize it. or some other idiot reason maybe.
