I can't open my Photoshop CS4 anymore- why?

I have been unable to open my Photoshop for some time now and I get this error message when I try:
Licensing for this product has stopped working.
This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your compute before it can be launched.
I you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shah own at the bottom of this screen.

The 150:30 error is a common problem which, most often, occurs when you recover Photoshop CS4 from a backup or transfer to another computer. The simplest way to clear it up is to re-install CS4. Here is a link to the installers: Download CS4 products

To open "Adobe Photoshop CS4" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

I have updated my system to Yosemite and when I try to open Adobe CS$ i get this message. To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. I have followed the links and installed Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.
When I again try to open CS4 I get the same message To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
Can anyone assist please?

you may need to uninstall CS then reboot, try to see if it allows you to update your JAVA

technically CS4 is not supported by Adobe and reported to be problematic with Yosemite.

Yes, you are right. The web-based online help is available only for the current version of Photoshop. I also discovered how to access the online help that originally came on my CS4 disk. You turn on the offline option (Windows>Extensions>Connections). With the online help from the disk and the PDFs you pointed out, I am happy. Thank you very much. Well CS5's ship has sailed.
CS6 can still be purchased on Perpetual License but it's not going to have all the bells & whistles that the current versions have. Just as long as you understand what you're getting.

I have rerun the applications install dvd, but it has not corrected the fault. When I try to open iphoto's I have an error message that says You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto.

the version you installed from the DVD is probably older than the version you used last with your library, so you need to update to the last version you used.
I have tried to update to the latest iphoto 11 but it wont download. Any answers please.
Where are you trying to download from? When you upgrade a version that is installed from the DVD, you need to update from the Software Update menu entry in the Apple-menu.
Also, iPhoto has to be called simply "iPhoto", not iPhoto '11 or something similar and to be installed in the Applications folder. Otherwise it will not be recognised by the updater.

Canon CR2 Raw files won't open in Photoshop CS4

I'm using a Canon EOS 600D (aka EOS Kiss X5), Photoshop CS4 (ver 11.0.1) with Camera Raw 5.7.0.213.
CR2 Raw files won't open in Photoshop, though the thumbnails are clearly visible and open in Windows Explorer.
Any suggestions?

Yes, absolutely all of the quality and dynamic range is retained in the DNG, because it is still raw data.
Outside of upgrading to Photoshop CS5, which can open your files directly with Camera Raw 6.4.1, your only choice is the extra step of converting the .CR2 files to .DNG with the free DNG converter.
While you'll get all the quality your Camera Raw 5.x converter can deliver, you should keep in mind the Camera Raw 6.x converter has an entirely new, additional "2010 process" for converting raw images, which (depending on your settings) can actually deliver a higher quality conversion than the one you're getting with Photoshop CS4. I think it's worth the cost of the Photoshop upgrade, personally.

.CR2 files won't open in Photoshop CS4

I recently got CS4 Extended version of Photoshop and need to work on my RAW files, but they won't open. I can see the thumbnails in Bridge and when I try to open them Photoshop says they're "not the right type of document"...so...not sure what to do. I've done a ton of research and cannot figure out why these files are unable to open. I need help!

I've had the same problem recently and worked on the solution this morning. I havn't read the full info stream here, but can tell you what finally worked for me today.
I also have CS4, and recently bought a Canon 7D. My .CR2 files would not open, due to proprietay issues with the new camera.
I first had to buy a download of WinZip, since I wasn't able to open any download from Adobe. The WinZip was about $30. Next, I went back to Adobe/downloads/updates and used Find Product Updates menu. I found the compatable update of RAW plug in was 5.7 for our CS4 version. I clicked the link to this download, and began the process by clicking Save. I then went to the Download folder and found the file from Adobe in the WinZip folder. At this point I went back to the Adobe download site and printed out the download instructions concerning where to find the old plug in, what to do with it, and how to install the newer downloaded plug in.
After all this, I opened CS4, Bridge, located my first .CR2 file, and it worked just fine. I was also able to convert these .CR2 files, once opened, to DNG files.

I have been using Photoshop ever since version 7 (having switched over from Corel's software, used previously for about 10 years) and had success with it.
I upgraded to ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE when it became available through the Adobe upgrade option and used that with equal pleasure.
In 2010 I upgraded to ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4, again by means of an upgrade version with no trouble.
I have switched to a newer, faster computer last week, but I have been unable to re-install my Photoshop CS4 on my new computer because I am not able to activate the program.
When I tried to install the program it refused to activate based on the serial number of my Creative Suite, stating that it was not a valid serial number for this product.
I have successfully installed this product in the past, more than once, using that same CS serial number with no problem arising until now.
I am requesting your assistance to get back to being able to use ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4, which after all I did purchase in good faith.
I am now retired and living on a fixed income which does not allow me the flexibility to purchase replacement software indiscriminately and I really need your help to solve this problem.
Please advise me of a solution or a workaround so that I can still use my software.

it's not clear in your post, but it appears you may own a stand-alone ps version (cs4) and some creative suite version.
if your ps cs4 is part of a suite, you need to use the suite installation files and suite serial number. if your ps cs4 is a stand-alone, you need to use the stand-alone ps cs4 installation files and stand-alone serial number.

Can´t open images in cs4

I´ve just installed CS4 on my computer. There´s no problem starting the program but when I try to open an image it first appear but in a second I get a shut down message that say Adobe Photoshop CS4 has encounted a problem and has to be terminated.
I´ve tried to reinstall three times but the same problem reoccur. I can open a picture in Camera Raw and Bridge but as soon as a export in to CS4 for it terminates.
Any clues?
