  • Can't open an archived address book group after emailed

The only way i know to email a group in the address book is to archive it. How do you open it after you receive it thru email.

You don't need to archive it. For one thing, an archive will replace the entire contents of your address book when you double-click on it.
You only have to drag the group to an open email message or onto the Mail icon in the dock. You can also drag it to a folder on the mac to create a vCard of the group.

  • How can i get my previous address book into my current email?

I use to use road runner as my email but always so slow so I started using Hotmail, had lots of problems with Hotmail so I went back to using rr but I can't get my old address book, I access rr via Mozilla and I didn't before. I can open my previous rr and all the addresses are there but can't figure out how to get them into my new account.
    Thanks

Export them from where ever they are, either as CSV or LDIF format.
Import them to Thunderbirds address book. Tools (Alt_T) > import > address books

  • The address book in a new email shows only names, no addresses

I recently added new names with their email addresses in "Address Book" - picked the Group I wanted and then clicked the + sign under Names and entered the info in the space to the right.  I had already created a mailbox for each name and had gone through Mailbox-Preferences-Rules to have emails from or to routed to the correct boxes [which it did when I clicked on "Apply" at the end of this process].  All this to show what I did prior to choosing "New Message" in Email.  When I got the blank email page, I clicked on the Address Book icon above to retrieve the address I wanted and only the names of the people I had entered were displayed, NOT their email addresses.   I then restarted the computer - still the same.  How do I get the addresses to show up???

Solved the problem.  Guess it helps sometimes to write down problems.

Why do my recent emails have attachments a 'Acrobat' and I can't open them without buying software when the same emails on my iPhone have the attachment as a PDF and open?  Thanks

  • I'm trying to import contacts from Outlook to mac address book. I've exported as a CSV but when i try to open with the Address book import tool, the file is greyed out and can't be imported

I'm trying to import contacts from Outlook to Mac address book. I've exported as a CSV but when I try to open with the Address book import tool, the file is greyed out and can't be imported. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ian

If you can't get the exported .csv file to work you might consider using Migration Assistant: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2518, particular if you need to move more than just your contacts.  There is some granularity in the options on what to transfer but I'm not sure if you can choose to just your migrate contacts.

  • For everyone who can't sync your iPhone with Yahoo Address Book

    Hello all,
I was having trouble syncing my Yahoo address book with my iphone. I kept getting the "iTunes could not sync with Yahoo! Address Book because an Internet connection is not available." window.
This is what I did to solve the problem, at least for me.
Add your Yahoo account to iPhone under “mail”. Make sure you use your full e-mail address, [email protected]
Launch iTunes first, then connect the iPhone.
Enter in your full e-mail address ([email protected]) and password in iTunes.
Allow the following applications to access the Internet (I’m using a firewall):
    iTunesHelper Module
    iTunes
    AppleMobileBackup.exe
    AppleMobileSync
iTunes then synced with Yahoo every time.
This was done on Windows XP. I do not think this problem occurs on a Mac.

    Hey playadelcarmen,
Make sure the Mac is updated, click the Apple> Software Updates.
Use the steps in this article to reinstall iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Service.

  • Desktop Manager fails to synch with Yahoo Address Book on my 8300

I have been synching both Yahoo Address Book and Yahoo Calendar successfully for months.  Suddenly, Address Book no longer synchs.  Yahoo calendar still works.  The problem occurs aftew Desktop reads all the contacts.  It halts while "Synchronization Progress...reading from Yahoo Address Book" displays.  That message has displayed for up to an hour with no progress.  I then disconnect and halt Desktop.  I can still synch Yahoo Calendar.  I have not updated desktop or device software.  Anybody have any suggestions?

No Sync with Yahoo Address Book Workaround:
Work Around for Blackberry to Yahoo Sync when Address Book Sync Gets Stuck:
I've had the Address Book on my Yahoo Sync hang on two different occasions.  The first time was late 2009 and the second was late Jan 2010.  The first time the problem fixed itself. This time, no such luck yet.  So if you are having the same problem, here's a work around that will allow you to update both your Yahoo and Blackberry Contacts and keep them in sync.
Step 1: From Yahoo, EXPORT your contacts to Windows Contacts (I did this in Vista and it also works for Windows 7 -- it should also work for XP, but the export may be a different expension).  You will want to export using the 'vCard, Zip of .VCF files'.  his will create a zip file of all your contacts with in the vcard format: (.VCF)
Step 2: Some manual labor in this step, but you will only have to do it once OR you can try a .vcf to .contact file converter program like:
http://www.vcardconverter.com/ that will cost you 19.95. Open each contact in the zip file. It will show you the contact data and there will be a button that you can click to ADD TO MY CONTACTS.  Do this for each contact in the exported zip file. Or but the program.
You now have your Yahoo Address Book converted over to Window Contacts.
Step 3: In the Blackberry Desktop Manager change your synchronization setting for your address book from Yahoo to 'Window Address Book/Mail'.  Leave the Calendar, MenoPad, and Task to sync with Yahoo.  So you should have:
    Calendar sync to Yahoo
    MemoPad sync to Yahoo
Address Book sync to Windows Address Book/Mail
    Task sync to Yahoo
Step 4: You now can perform a sync to you Blackberry Device. (But read the notes below first)
    SOME IMPORTANT NOTES:
This allows you to get your contacts into your Blackberry and to sync them with your Windows Contacts.  You can make this a three way sync where you also keep your Windows Contacts and Yahoo Address Book in sync.  It just adds an extra sync.  NOTE: If you are going to do this then pay the 20 bucks and buy the program above or find a program to convert .contact files to vcf (vcard) files. I've decided to buy the program above because it allows me to import and export all the contacts at one time, which is what you will need to use the import / export tools in Yahoo Contacts
I did the sync of the address book in steps.  I was lucky / unlucky because I tried to do a Blackberry software upgrade that failed and it wiped out all of my contacts, calendar, tasks, and memos; so when I did my first sync, I when only from the Blackberry Desktop Manager to my Blackberry.  I then changed my sync to be a two way sync.  I only mention this because I don't know if going from Windows Contact to Blackberry would create duplicate entries in your Blackberry and Windows Contact Manager.  Maybe someone can check this out and post. Anyway, I would suggest trying the sync with only a few contacts to check it out.
You don't need to worry about the folder that the Blackberry Desktop Manager will store the contacts.  It assumes the 'Contacts' folder on you machine.  As far as I could tell, there was no way to change this destination anyway.
    ALTERNATIVE APPROACH:
If I was to do this all over, and I had my contacts still on my blackberry, I would most likely do the following (in theory):
    Step 1.
Change the sync for contacts to be with Windows Address Book, not Yahoo.
    Step 2.
Sync the contacts so they would appear in the Windows Contacts.
Step 3. Then worry about syncing Windows Contacts with Yahoo (see above)
    Good luck,

  • Yahoo Address Book Sync Just Hangs...

So I've somewhat recently discovered the Yahoo sync feature in Address Book. "Cool," I thought, "even though I don't use Yahoo that much, it would be nice to have a copy of my contacts in the cloud just in case something happens to my computer (like its graphics chip melts... but that's a different issue)." Thus, I gleefully checked the box and started my journey towards Yahoo synchronization. However, that's about as far as I got.
After I agreed to the fine print and put in my yahoo ID and password, I clicked OK, and that's as far as I got. The OK button is greyed out, seemingly indicating that something is going on, but nothing happens. I've left it like that overnight, and when I got up the next morning, it was still just sitting there. The Cancel button still works, and it closes the yahoo panel as soon as I click it, but other than that, nothing happens.
I've tried logging out of Yahoo, as I've seen suggested, and I've done it on a fresh reboot, when no other applications (besides Finder of course) were open. I also tried just typing random garbage into the login details, and I noticed that it does the same thing.
Anyway, that's my issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Finch42
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I do just the opposite, I use Yahoo mail for handling all my mail and not Mac mail.
It looks to me like you can only sync one way, from the Yahoo address book to the Mac address book and not the other.

Yahoo also has something called Intellisync, but it's not compatible with Mac OS.

However it might not hurt to contact Yahoo Help and see what they have to say.

  • Retirive Hotmail / Yahoo Address book

    Dear Friends,
Hope you have checked out hi5.com, birthdayalarm.com, ringo.com. In these sites they have kept a new process of inviting people by letting uset to type their username and password, and within 1 sec it retrives list of email address which was saved in their address book or messenger list. And they send mail to all as mailing list.
All the thing i wanna know is how this is possible, can we also do this same thing ?
I tried so much on net to know about it but unable to get it.
Somewhere its said that it uses curl, but if the page design gets change code need to be re-write again.
Some places its says that its agreement between both the site and they are paying for it.
    Many place many different reasons.
If this thing can be done from us then please let me know the steps for it ? It will help me to complete my college assignment.
    Waiting.......

  • I can no longer select multiple addresses from my Mail address book when forwarding emails

Since updating to Mavericks I cannot select multiple addresses from my address book when forwarding emails.
I can select them individually using the + sign in the address bar but cannot select any when I open my Contact list as I have done with previous systems.
Additionly, the full address appears in the "To" window instead of just the name and without the email address. I have selected "Smart Address" from the Preferences menu, View section.
    Help!

Why are you using a Hotmail or Live Mail SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account?
This is likely the cause of the problem. Use Gmail's authenticated SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account.

  • Crash in YahooSync when trying syncing with Yahoo Address Book

My iPhone (fw 1.1.1) works fine. I tried to syn with my contacts on the Yahoo address book. When I click on "syn contacts with Yahoo! Address Book" in iTunes (latest vesion 7.4.3.1) it pops up the login dialog.
Then it crashes (login on the website works fine).
    iTunes says: "unknown error (6)".
Any idea how to solve this?!

While researching I found the following doc on Apple called
"iPhone: Exception error when syncing with Yahoo! Address Book" at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305851
Currently I just have telephone numbers in my contacts, no e-mail addresses. So that can't be the problem. I also replaced special characters like ö, ä and so on.
When I retried now I got the same error

  • How to search contacts using Yahoo Address Book

I'm sure this is nothing new to many of you, but it was a great discovery for me today. I struggle with not having a contact search on my iPhone -- often remembering the company name but not the person's name. With my Treo, I could search the entire device including contacts, emails, etc. and find what I needed but we're not there yet with the iPhone.
One way I found around this is to sync your contacts in iTunes with Yahoo Address Book. I then went to address.yahoo.com on the iPhone, logged in and up comes my contacts with a search field at the top of the page. The search engine always found what I wanted and when I go back to the bookmarked site, I don't have to re-login. I also can click on a phone number in a contact on the web page and dial the number.
So effectively this is a one click for safari, one click for bookmarks and one click for Yahoo Address book and you have a contact search engine. This will be a good workaround for me until Apple hopefully does an update to include contact search.

Unfortunately I do not believe this will work for me.
But it is still a "Rube Goldberg" approach to a function that should be included with the contact list.
I sometimes remember the last name, sometimes the first name, and sometimes I remember the company, when I do not remember the name, and...
sometimes I remember what town the company is in if I can't remember anything else.
