Could be an adobe issue. Is it up to date? Within Adobe in the Help menu, try repair adobe installation. In the mean time, right click on any pdf and Get Info. Under open with, change it to preview.

  • Can't open PDFs from website. Use OS X 6.8 & Firefox 24

When I click on the link, I get a blank screen. If I switch to Safari I can open PDFs, but not with Firefox. Can you help?

Can you check your PDF viewer setting? This article describes how to switch it: [[View PDF files in Firefox without downloading them]] (skip to the section "Using a PDF reader plugin"). If your current setting doesn't work, does another one of the options work?

  • Opening PDFs from gMail account in iBooks

I've previously opened PDFs from gMail messages using iBooks but today, for some unknown reason, I cannot open any new PDF file attachment larger than 200k.
iPod Touch 8GB (2nd generation) using iOS4.1- Still have 5.7GB available so I'm not sure why certain size files won't open.
I've even tried using Safari w/ gMail account - In both cases, as soon as I try to open the PDF attachments w/ iBooks, the display drops out without transferring to Ibooks as it used to do.

    Tried resetting - No joy.
When I tried to open the attachment w/ "iBooks", the iPod switched to iBooks and an "Untitled" file showed on the bookshelf momentarily then the display dropped out and returned to the "Home" screen. No joy there.
Even tried opening w/ "Quick Look" - Again, no joy. Just a dropout and back to the "Home" screen.
Looks like I may have to do a total reset - Now iBooks loads w/ "Untitled" file displaying and then the display drops w/ a return to the home screen - In the process of total reset as I write this - Will update after I do a restore. - Its going to take at least 2 hours for reset/restore operation.

  • TS2015 Can't open hotmail from my iPad using safari

Can't open hotmail from my iPad using safari

I've just spent two weeks trying to resolve this problem.   Is it only hotmail or other pages ?    I was having problem with other pages as well. I found a thread on here which said change the DNS number in your wi fi connection.
Tap blue arrow next to your wi fi connection and change DNS settings to 208.68.222.222.  I changed mine and yippee it worked. Can sign in and out of hotmail. No problem   Hope this helps.

  • Can't open PDFs from Outlook Access denied

We are trying to open PDFs from Outlook in Reader XI.  Even after disabling protected mode, continue to receive the message "There was an error opening this document.  Access denied.".  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    A. Fix One PC
    Launch Adobe Acrobat Reader X
    Go to: Edit > Preferences...
Click on "General" in the left pane.
Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
You will prompted with a dialog box to remind you to close the application for the change to go into effect. Click Yes.
Click OK to save your change.
    Exit Adobe Reader
    B. Fix Several PCs in Your Organization
Following the above steps aren't practical if you have Adobe Acrobat installed on 1,000+ computers in 30 regional offices! Push this registry setting using your standard software deployment software.

  • Can't open PDF e-mail attachments

Windows 7, MS Outlook, Reader XI
If someone sends me an e-mail with PDF attachments, I can only open them one at a time.
If I double-click one attachment, it opens in Adobe Reader (XI). If I double-click another, there's a flicker and then nothing.  I have to close not only the first file, but close down Reader too, before the next file will open.  Very tedious.  Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?
Occasionally, some time later (>5mins), when I'm doing something entirely unrelated one of these files will suddenly open up.  It's as though the request to open a PDF is being backed up somewhere.  Mostly though, they just don't open unless I go through the process above.  With Reader closed down, the first PDF I try to open comes right up with no delay at all.

  • Can't open PDF from single source sender

I am on a Mac platform and have no trouble opening PDF documents with the exception of those that come through email from a particular sender.   The error I receive when I try to open the documents from the original sender is
Adobe Reader could not open 'Order_Ack-820.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
When this same file is sent to a different person and then forwarded to me, I can open it.
Any thoughts on why this is happening.

  • Can't open pdf from single source & 9.3 won't install

I receive a weekly update from a source.  Until Jan.22 had no trouble
accessing it.  Now when I click the link it goes to the link's site but no pdf appea
rs, just a a normal site page
w/o the acrobat background  I am on Vista platform, and IE8..  I can access this link from my laptop Also tried to upgrade from 9.0 to 9.3.  Download finished  but installation could not be completed. Said there were files open that were being used.  I had no other files open.  I am very frustrated and
I am not experienced enough to know what to do.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Grey screen, after opening pdf from mail

    Hello,
My mail program shows only a "grey screen" after opening a pdf file,
Now i can not open or see other recieved mails...
Has somebody the same probleme, or ideas?
    Please help me:)

The PDF file may be damaged and is giving the PDF reader problems.
To get around this terminate and restart the Mail App.
    To do this:
    1. Press Home button
    2. Double-click Home button to bring up the "Recent Apps" tray at the bottom
    3. Touch and hold on the Mail icon until a "-" appears.
    4. Touch the "-" on the Mail icon to terminate Mail
    5. Restart Mail (do not attempt to reopen the PDF)

  • Can't open PDFs from Skydrive

I started using Windows Skydrive and really like the convenience but when I send myself a link to another email address to check a link before I send the link to a group of parents or students, if the document the link should open is a PDF then I get a message telling me that I need to download Adobe Reader add-in.
I have a new laptop which is running Windows 7 (64bit) and Office 2010 Professional Educational Suite (if it matters.
I have all the latest Adobe software installed, including Adobe Reader X... and have No Problems with reading PDFs otherwise.
When I check if my IE is set to 64bit or 32bit, it states that 64bit is not allowed to be set as the default, so the solution that someone else had in the forum must not be the same issue as mine.
Really need a professional solution here so I can be assured my students can also open their documents!

Not quite sure from your description what the problem is.
Note that Adobe Reader is a 32-bit application, as is the browser add-on.  It can therefore only run on 32-bit browsers.
When I try to open a PDF from a 64-bit browser, the document will open outside of the browser, in the standalone Adobe Reader.

  • Can't open attachments from Mail since downloading Lion...

I have recently updated to Lion and since then I'm unable to open attachments in my email - either attachments received or documents I've attached to an email I'm composing. The app - Pages, Numbers, etc. - will open, but nothing happens after that.
When trying to open email attachments the document will open in Preview, but if I select "Open in Pages/Numbers" it gets stalled, as described above.
My only option seems to be to save the document and then open through the app or Finder, extra steps I'd rather not always have to take.
    Help?

I'm having the same problem.  I know there's an attachment.  I can see the paper clip in the listing of e-mails, but when I open the e-mail, there's nothing to launch to see the attachment!

  • Can't open PDFs in mail

I am unable to open attachment is email... Is there any fix for this?

Thank you for you reply however the attachment appeas as an image only. All I can do is copy the image.
The document does not appear as an icon but a picture. All I can do is save it to my pictures...
Word docs seem fine but I have not tried any other formats.
This is a significant problem to me as I recieve many PDF's.
I tried your solution however it does not work.
