I can't open a pdf (that was created with Adobe Acrobat Pro) using Reader 11. However, the file will open with an older version of Reader (10.1.4) on another workstation. Is there any way to resolve the problem?

Reader 11 is not available for general release. If you participated in the beta program, there is a place for this discussion which you have been provided. If you did not participate in the beta program, then you should not yet have access to Reader 11. I have just checked the Adobe website and it is not available to download from there.

sorry i searched it online and here but couldn't find anything. All of the sudden i can no longer open photos (jpeg, jpg) and pdf files on my mac. I have ver 10.9.4
"It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
i tried opening it directly from safari or chrome but no luck. I have so many pictures and pdf.

Can't open Skype at all on Macbook Pro

I have been struggling with Skype for a long time on my Macbook Pro and wondered if anyone has any advice. When I try to open the application, it crashes immediately before I can even log in. This has been the behaviour for several versions of Skype now, so I am starting to think there is something on my machine which conflicts with it and the problem will not be solved by waiting for a future release of Skype.
Currently it is failing with version 6.0.60.2496 of Skype (downloaded today) on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.8.2. The machine is a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM, purchased in 2009. Exactly the same problem occurred in Lion, before I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
I have tried a number of steps to solve the problem, including:
* Removing the /skype folder from /Library/Application Support and the preference file from Preferences, uninstalling Skype, restarting in Safe Mode, downloading it again, installing and trying to open it
* Changing the settings in Text to Speech to a different voice
* Downloading an older version of Skype and trying to run that
Everything crashes instantly every time and I am unable to use Skype at all.
Skype support have told me there's nothing further they can suggest and they think it may be a conflict with my System fonts, but I am desperate for any advice from someone who has encountered (and hopefully solved!) a similar problem.

You'll need to save it to a different format to use it on a Mac. If you can still open them on the HP, that would probably be the easiest. Save them as a Mac compatible format such as .mpg. If that doesn't work, here is a converter you can try: http://www.squared5.com/

I recently moved several videos from my camcorder to my desktop. The file extension is .MOD and I can't figure out how to open them on my laptop. I had no problem opening and viewing them on my HP desktop but am having no success on my Mac. I am fairly new to Macs so this could be a very basic fix that I'm not aware of. well, when I got home from school I always get on "Safari" first to check mail, youtube, facebook ... youknow but Last night what happen was like my Safari was crash and I click ok not a re-open one but when I click on Safari again it's starting crash again then I reboot it and when it start boot up I feel that It's getting slower than before on boot up it took about 5 minutes to get on which is actually less than 20 secounds.. now when it's fully start up it show my desktop then I click on Safari or anyprogram it's not even pop up or bouncing and when I click on "Finder Icon" it's said "can't open Applications - 10810" then I tried to reserch on google and they said to reboot it and I tried over and over again it won't work..

Hard to say what's going on here. Open Disk Utility and check to see if SMART is verified. Also verify the disk. If problems are found, boot from your install disc and repair your boot disk.
One possibility is that your hard drive might be starting to fail. If you don't already have a good backup of your data, be sure and make one just in case. If the hard drive is failing, it will need to be replaced.
Another possibility is that the OS has become corrupted. If so, you will need to reinstall it. However, check out the hard drive first--if it's failing, it won't do any good to reinstall the OS, and you may not even be able to. Better to rescue your data first.

Depending on which version of Firefox you're using, it no longer currently supports the plug-in provided with Adobe Reader. You have to use PDF Plugin 2.4.4. Just disable the Adobe plugin and use the Schubert plugin.

What exactly are you trying to do?
You do not "open" projects. You have to place them in the right place so FCP X can work on them.
The right course to use a project on more than one mac is simple: use an external drive. Use FCP to move your project and all the relevant events to the external. Then just move the external to the other mac, start FCP X and continue working.

Are you using Office 2004 on a Mac running Lion or later? If so, see:
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.

Can't open iPhoto after Yosemite upgrade MacBook Pro

THe wheel just spins and eventually I have to force quit. I tried resetting the Pram. It's a 2011 15". Need to get into my photos! I know I can access them in Pictures but I'd like to use iPhoto.

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Are you able to create a new library or still get the SWOD (spinning wheel of death)? If you still get the SWOD try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
