I can't open PowerPC Applications on this Powerbook G4,
If I click on Transmission 2.2 or uTorrent for PowerPC, these Applications only shut down and dissapear before completley starting up, and I don't know what to do. This Laptop, I just bought it so that I can play educatiional games through Classic mode. Why isn't this functioning? I remember I used to have the choice to look for Rosetta in S.L. but on this Laptop I can't really alter anything. What should I do?
Torrent and peer2peer applications are strongly advised against. If you need older applications, you should be looking at places such as http://www.lowendmac.com/ or http://www.macupdate.com/ or http://www.oldmacapps.com/ or http://download.cnet.com/mac/?tag=vtredir
Do not download MacKeeper, or other system utilities. FTP download software such as RBrowser, Fetch, or Cyberduck may be needed to download from some old links. Anybody who offers a torrent may only have the beta, spyware, or a buggy release version of the said software.
Classic offers Mac OS 9 compatibility with with driverless Mac OS 9 applications. Games that required a specific GPU will not function well under Classic if at all, and require booting into Mac OS 9. Except for the Firewire 800 lacking PowerMac G4 models, DVD drive less eMacs early in 2003, DVD burner iMac 800 Mhz, and iBook G3s, booting into Mac OS 9 is not possible for newer Mac models, and only Classic was supported. July 2002 and newer Macs required system specific restore discs to install Mac OS 9. Powerbook G4s with side USB ports could not boot into Mac OS 9, but rear USB ports could. Earlier Macs that shipped with 9.2.1 or later, could only use their system specific Mac OS 9 disc to install Mac OS 9 for Classic or booting. Before then at least the 9.2.1 retail installer worked.
Classic is not available in Mac OS X 10.5 and higher or Intel Macs.
Rosetta allows PowerPC Mac OS X applications to run on Intel Macs in 10.4.4 to 10.6.8 natively that didn't require specific drivers to PowerPC, and with virtualization of 10.6 Server on Mac OS X 10.7 and later.

I installed Lion 10.7.4. Went to use Photoshop Cs and got a popup window. You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop CS because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Is there a way of getting this to work or do I have to get newest version of all of my Power PC apps?
Welcome to Apple Communities
PowerPC applications are unsupported in newer versions. You can upgrade Photoshop or you can install Snow Leopard in a partition.
1. Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) and select your drive
2. Go to Partitions tab, press + button, create a new partition and press Apply
3. Insert the Snow Leopard install DVD and reboot pressing C key
4. Install it in the new partition
5. If you want to change boot, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and select 10.7 -
I just upgraded to OS X Lion and now I can't open the application Adobe ImageReady CS because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
There is no fix. It simply means that the software is outdated. Adobe would need to release a newer non-PPC version that supports Lion. They may have done that already, I don't know.

Just upgraded to Mac Lion... can't access Appleworks6...get this message... "You can't open the application AppleWorks 6 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported".... I've got dozens of documents saved that I can't access?!!!!!
Rosetta is not included Lion, if you are not familiar with Rosetta it was an application included in Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard that allowed PPC based apps to run on Intel based machines. That was over 5 years ago so it's time to move on. As has been suggested you can read those documents in Pages which is available on the App Store. Pages is part of the iWorks suite that replaced AppleWorks years ago. Currently iWorks is on iWorks 09 , and includes Pages, Numbers and Keynote. You can find each on the App store.

Hi, I just tried to open Word and this message appeared - 'You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.' I just recently loaded OS X Lion does this mean my software for MS Office is now out of date? Do I have to purchase a new package? Any help appreciated.
Hello:
Office 2004 was written for the PowerPC chip only. There is no emulation in OS X 10.7.
I encountered the same issue sometime ago when I updated to OS X 10.7.
There is one option that I might mention (other than buy Office 2011). I switched to Apple's iWork. Pages (the word processing package) is completely compatible with Word. If you export Pages documents, you can export them in formats compatible with Microsoft programs. iWork also contains programs that are compatible with Office presentation and spreadsheet packages.
The reason I mention this is that the cost is about 1/2 of the cost of Office.

I just download mountain lion to my mac, now microsoft office suite doesn't work....it says 'you can't open the application 'microsoft word' because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What does this mean and what do I have to do to fix it?? HELP!!
Install Snow Leopard on another boot partition, or upgrade Microsoft Office to a newer version, or use any number of better alternatives. Some of them are free.
Consider
LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10)
OpenOffice (completely free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft. -
trying to load efax from new hp emachine. you get this
;You can’t open the application “eFax Messenger” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
when is hp, efax, or apple getting their act together to fix the issue?Hi,
The eFax service provided with the HP device is a remote cloud feature and have nothing to do with installing any software on your computer.
Any software named eFax you may trying to install is not affilated with HP in any way, as well I doubt if it is affilated with the eFax service in any manner.
In order to enable and use the eFax feature please follow the steps below:

Please help with the message I am receving on startup ""You can't open the application NovamediaDiskSupressor because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
I have read some of the replies in the Apple Support Communities, but as I am no techie, I would have no idea how I would implement that solution.
Please help with what I need to type, how, where, etc.
Many thanks
AppleSueIn HunterCreekI am afraid there is no solution.
PowerPC refers to the processing chip used by Apple before they transferred to Intel chips. They are very different, and applications written only for PPC Macs cannot work on a Mac running Lion.
You could contact the developers to see if they have an updated version in the pipeline. -
Why am I getting the following error message? "You can’t open the application “Microsoft Word” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I never used to have a proble!
Only Office for Mac 2008 and 2011 will run on Mavericks. Microsoft support for the former package ended in April 2013. If you do not want to spend the money, you might download and try the donation-ware (free) LibreOffice Suite. No ribbon bar crap. Supports about any document created on Windows.
