I can't open Spotify in Ubuntu

Since the last update I have a problem. I run Spotify but nothing happens. Do not know how to fix it. Can anybody help me please?

Hi, I am having the same problem here, but I have Linuxmint 13 Xfce since I have an not-so-old-but-a-bit-older computer. I have read and followed I don't know how many blogs and posts about installing Spotify. I have installed, uninstalled, added keys, checked and edited the source.list and source.list.d file/folder... there is no human way for me to run spotify. I even tried typing "spotify" on a terminal, then pressing TAB... nothing, not even 1 miserable binary appears, and I can see the Spotify icon in my menu, under Multimedia. But! When I typed "spotify" on the terminal without pressing TAB, I got some signs of life from my computer: spotify: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory So! after a bit of research on internet, I tried this:sudo apt-get install libudev1:i386 And I got the following answer from my computer:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libudev1:i386 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another sourceE: Package 'libudev1:i386' has no installation candidate In other words: Computer says NO! Is there any way, anything that I can do to get Spotify running on this computer?Everything else works perfectly fine. Thank you very much in advance!

Can't open catalog- Lightroom in Virtualbox, Ubuntu host, Vista Guest

Hey, I'm running Ubuntu as my primary OS, w/ Vista running in Virtual box. My LR catalog exists on my external drive with all my photos. When I open Lightroom and browse for my catalog, it tells me it can't open a catalog from that location because it can't write there (or something to that affect). Anyway, I created the shared folder with full access, and if I browse to that location from Vista (running in vbox) I can create/delete filese there, so I do have write access, but Lightroom doesn't think so.
Is there any simple way to fix this?

oooOOOOOoooohhhh.....
That makes a lot of sense to me now. I know next to nothing about networks, except that you have to map drives to give them a letter... And in my layman's understanding, shared folders from the host to hte guest are treated as network folders.
Ok... Thanks. So, even though I'm not really any closer to a solution (maybe a bit further off??), at least I know why it's acting the way it is...
This is a funny problem- in that it's kind of on the border between a linux, adobe, and virtual box question. I've got threads started on all the forums, you are the first to reply (it's been a couple of days now...).
I also have my computer in a dual boot so I'm not locked out of LR altogether, and for big jobs I'd rather be in a native os than cripple myself with a virtual machine, but for day to day quickie stuff, it'd be nice to not have to reboot to jump into lightroom for a 10min job.

I can't open PRE 9! HELP PLEASE!!!!

I don't know what to do anymore, my PRE 9 won't open any project files, any new files. And now and then it pops up a message saying it can¨t open the file so now it has to force close.
I've tried to system restore to a day where it worked, uninstalled it 6 times now and updated it to 9.01 but non of these has worked so I don't know what to do now.

I tried to reopen the file and then start a brand new one. When those didn’t work i uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but that did work for like a day and then it stopped working.

It worked to uninstall the program and reinstall it for sometime but now it won’t work. I’ve tried the BadDriver solution but it didn’t work

Y400 can't open any programs (Urgent!!!)

So I was using powerpoint and went into slideshow mode. After I exited it, all of my desktop shortcuts are missing. I tried restarting it but it was still the same. My screen just shows my wallpaper and the taskbar at the bottom with the short cuts on the desktop all missing. The programs that I pinned on the taskbar before are still there and I can open them but it doesn't show on my screen. I am able to play music thanks to the back, play/pause, forward buttons that come up when you hover the cursor over the spotify program at the taskbar but I can't bring up the spotify window. Also, I realised that the time, wifi, batt etc. on the right side of the taskbar is gone. I can't open taskmanager as it is the same with the other programs (Shows that it is open at the taskbar but can't bring them up). But, the windows apps (From the windows start menu) are all working normally. Can someone please tell me how to solve this problem? Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums.
That's weird. If you boot in Safe Mode, are you able to see and open desktop apps?
If yes, can you consider doing a clean boot and observe the functionality in normal mode (this is to isolate any apps running in the background that's possibly causing the issue).

My Macbook pro keeps freezing everytime I open Spotify or Steam. Has never done this before, help?

So every time I try to open Spotify or Steam (a video game application) my computer becomes unresponsive to everything but the mouse. I can move the mouse around but nothing is clickable. It just started doing this yesterday and those are two applications I use very frequently so if someone could please help that'd be great! I've already tried the command alt P R thing and safe mode with no luck.

Can not open, view inbox in godaddy web mail

I have been using godaddy webmail for awhile - one day I tried to view my emails and I could not. I can't open them or reply to them or even highlight "inbox". I have avg - they disabled the firewall and viris protection but the problem prosisted. I called godaddy, the ran a check of their system and said it's working properly and it was a problem with my browser. I am able to compose and send emails if I type in a address.

That worked fine in Firefox after Comcast instituted that Xfinity interface last spring, then they fixed something else and broke that for some Firefox users. Connect Lite still works fine.
Using IE, once you're in the full email page open Preferences -> General in the Xfinity menu header and select Xfinity Connect Lite. Then try it in Firefox.
Or, click on the first new email on the preview page, and when you're done with it click on the Inbox link in the Nav Menu in the left column to get your complete Inbox.

It appears that you are launching the old version, probably using an icon in your Dock. That icon is an alias & is not updated. You will need to go to your Applications folder & find the new Pages 5 icon & double-click it. Once it is launched, you can right-click on the icon & choose Options > keep in Dock from the contextual menu.

Can't open pages from iCloud

Pages 5.2 OSX 10.9.2.
It's the 2 time I have this problem. Trying to open a pages document from iCloud. Message; can't open file "filename.pages". If i download pages can open the document. If i load it on iCloud it can't be opened. Some pollution in the cloud?I can open all documents in iCloud pages.

Vi error on nfs mount; E212: Can't open file for writing

I've setup a umask of 0 for testing on both NFS client (Centos 5.2) and NFS server (OSX 10.5.5 server).
I can create files as one user and edit/save out as another user w/o issue when directly logged into the server via ARD.
However, when I attempt the same from an NFS mount on a client machine, even as root I get the following error using vi;
"file" E212: Can't open file for writing
Looking at the system.log file on the server, I see;
kernel[0]: add_fsevent: no name hard-link! dropping the event. (event 2 vp == 0xa5db510 (-UNKNOWN-FILE)).
This baffles me. My umask is 0 meaning files I create and attempt to edit as other users are 777, but I cannot save out edits unless I do a wq! in vi. At that point, the owner of the file changes to whomever did the vi.
This isn't just a vi issue as it happens using any editor, but I like to use vi.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Hey, beer is on me!

I've narrowed it down to a Centos client issue.
Everything works fine using other Linux based OS's as clients.
Since we have such a huge investment in Centos, I must figure out a workaround. Apple support wasn't much help as usual however they were very nice.
There usual response is "its unsupported".
If Apple really wants to play in the enterprise of business space, they really need to change there philosophy. I mean telling me that I shouldn't mount home directories via NFS is completely rediculus.
What am I supposed to use then, Samba of AFP? No, I don't think so. No offense to Microsoft but why would I use a Windows based file sharing protocol to mount network shares in a Nix env???

the problem: if the path or file name has space in it, even it exist, winword still can not open it.
